Hayden Panettiere is set to show off her singing skills playing a country superstar in new TV soap Nashville.

The actress, who played a cheerleader in sci-fi show Heroes, will swap her pom-poms for a microphone for her lead role in the upcoming drama set in the Nashville, Tennessee music scene.

Panettiere's character Juliette Barnes will be forced to tour with a fading veteran singer in order to revive her flagging career.

The filmmaker, who was previously married to Dreamgirls actress Sharon Leal, has proposed to the X-Men: The Last Stand star after designing a special ring made out of rose gold and white diamonds.

Hollywood actress Hayden Panettiere has ended her romance with her boxer boyfriend Wladimir Klitschko.

The Heroes star, 21, has been dating the Russian sportsman, 35, since 2009 but they have now revealed the relationship is over.

Actress Ali Larter is a first-time mother after giving birth to a baby boy on Monday.

The Heroes star and her husband, writer/actor Hayes MacArthur, welcomed a son called Theodore Hayes MacArthur in Los Angeles.

MacArthur's father Bruce first confirmed the happy news to the Chicago Sun-Times, saying, "I can't wait to see him and say, 'Hey, baby! What's happening?'"

The couple later released a statement to Us Weekly, calling their new baby a "perfect Christmas present."

Larter married MacArthur in Maine in August last year.
