Kelsey Grammer Says Heart Attack And Divorce Led To New Show 'Boss' On Starz

October 10th, 2011 3:00pm EDT
Boss
Kelsey Grammer is returning to TV in a different role than you’re used to seeing him. Boss is a political drama in which Grammer plays a corrupt politician. The change of public image was inspired by Grammer’s publicized personal struggles, he admits.

“Honestly, I actually just took a break for a while,” Grammer said. “There were a lot of reasons I did but in the last couple of years I decided I needed to make a life change, honestly. You’re all familiar with what’s gone on in my personal life. Maybe not the details because I don’t talk about them, but I will say this.”

Grammer is now div...

Kelsey Grammer Wants To Bring Back 'Frasier'

August 31st, 2010 2:00pm EDT
Kelsey Grammer
Kelsey Grammer is making plans to revive his most famous character Dr. Frasier Crane for a new TV show.

The actor found fame playing the pompous psychiatrist in hit 1980s TV show Cheers, and he went on to star in hugely successful spin-off series Frasier. He spent 20 years playing the beloved character before Frasier came to an end in 2004 after more than a decade on the small screen.

Grammer has since failed to replicate his success and has seen a number of new shows flop including Back To You and Hank, and he's now considering bringing back the cast of Frasier for a "reunion show". T...

TV Year End Recap

December 26th, 2009 3:00pm EST
TV Year End Recap
Ah, the year has come to an end once more. Well, actually the decade has come to an end. But enough of all that end-of-the-decade nonsense. We still have a year in TV to discuss. A year that finally saw the networks once again deliver us some new shows worth watching, a year when several cable dramas took a massive step forward. A year when Paula Abdul wasn't the worst "Idol" Judge!

Yes, it was a strange year on the small screen, but a good one all the same. Here's the best, and some of the worst, of TV 2009.

Great Performances:

Jane Lynch in "Glee"

Sure, she's been hailed...

New Fall TV: Keep It Or Kill It

October 21st, 2009 10:41am EDT
fall tv keep or kill
It's that time of year. You've checked out the new shows and by now you know if you love them or hate them. Networks are either ordering additional episodes of their fledgling series or quietly letting them burn off until nobody notices they are gone. And some networks stayed cautiously conservative by looking back to previous television icons and failing miserably (we are talking to you, NBC).

Check out the crop of new series and whether we think they should stay on the air or be put out of their misery. Let us know if you agree!

Q&A: Kelsey Grammer Talks ABC's New Series 'Hank,' His Health And More

September 28th, 2009 10:00am EDT
Kelsey Grammer
Kelsey Grammer should mean gold for any TV series. His long run on Cheers and Frasier is legendary, and he keeps popping up as Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons. It didn't quite work out for Back to You, but that certainly wasn't his fault. His new show, Hank, could be the next winner in his stable.

Hank is a disgraced Fortune 500 honcho who has to adjust to small town sitcom life. Moving back home with his family provides a culture clash with Grammer clinging to the sort of highbrow luxuries familiar to Frasier Crane. Reality provides the humor.

Over the summer, Grammer presented the new...

Pre-Season 2009 TV Report Card: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

September 21st, 2009 12:30pm EDT
Desperate Housewives
Since CNN has such a blast creating a report card to track the Presidency, we decided to have some fun with television. Which networks come out strong and which ones need to do better homework?

MAJOR NETWORKS

ABC: B

The Good: The dramas are what keep us coming back to ABC. Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, FlashForward, and V are worth looking forward to. The one comedy that stands out and may hold itself against NBC's stellar comedies, Modern Family, is worth a few episodes past the pilot.

The Bad: Dancing With The Stars is extremely popular, however sometimes too much of a ...

Kelsey Grammer Is Feeling Fine And Ready For New Series 'Hank'

August 17th, 2009 11:30am EDT
Kelsey Grammer
Kelsey Grammer suffered a heart attack last year, but he's already back to work on a new Fall TV show. Hank will portray Grammer as a bankrupt businessman moving to a more modest lifestyle in his wife's home town. He feels fully recovered and ready to work.

"Listen, it was not a great year," Grammer said. "It was a tough year for everybody. Maybe it was my time to just get retooled a little bit. It ended up being probably a great thing in my life. I mean, I'm healthier, stronger, faster. Is this The Six Million Dollar Man? I'm somewhat bionic now. So things are really looking good. Th...
