'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'Change of Heart'

May 6th, 2014 1:27am EDT
'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'Change of Heart'
It’s the day after Cristina failed to win the Harper Avery Award and she’s nowhere to be found. She’s not on the flight back to Seattle with Meredith and Owen and she won’t pick up her phone, which has them both worried.

Back at the hospital, Shane and Arizona work with Dr. Russell, who takes over Cristina’s cases in her absence. After Arizona rounds with him, Alex approaches her with a compliment and she immediately knows something is up. Now that he’s been fully backed by the private practice doctors, he decides to tell her about his new job opportunity, since he has to give them a defin...

'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'Go It Alone'

May 5th, 2014 2:19pm EDT
Grey's Anatomy
During this week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, the honeymoon is officially over for Jackson and April, Derek takes on more than he can handle, and the winner of the Harper Avery Award is revealed. Check out the highlights from this episode below.

Jackson and April encounter a young deaf patient in the ER. Jackson believes that the girl is a perfect candidate for a cochlear implant, but the girl’s mother, who’s also deaf, doesn’t want her to get it. Later that night, Jackson criticizes the mother for not wanting her daughter to get the surgery, but April reprimands him for constantly judging...

'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'I'm Winning'

May 5th, 2014 11:56am EDT
'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'I'm Winning'
“The Harper Avery is one of the highest awards a surgeon can earn. They always make the calls to the nominees on the same Friday of the same month at 8 A.M. east coast time, 5 A.M. in Seattle,” Meredith states in the opening voiceover, just as an alarm goes off. Meredith and Cristina wake up at 5 A.M. sharp in Cristina’s bed, patiently waiting for some news. After a brief moment of hesitation, Cristina gets the call. She’s been nominated for the Harper Avery Award. She tries to downplay the nomination at work, but her coworkers are thrilled – including Shane, who feels like he received a no...

How Many Sharks Have Your Favorite Shows Jumped?

April 19th, 2014 10:00am EDT
In the fickle word of entertainment, it's rare when a television show makes it through its first season. For the lucky shows that do, they risk jumping the shark, Hollywood's term for a show's cringe-worthy decline due to over-the-top or nonsensical plotlines. Has your favorite long-running series like "Supernatural" or "The Good Wife" made the leap? Read on to find out...

It's a little baffling that the CW's sci-fi show is bringing in some of its best ratings yet in its ninth season. It's mind-boggling to realize that after nearly 200 episodes, "Supernatural" is s...

'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'You Be Illin''

April 17th, 2014 11:46am EDT
Grey's Anatomy
Doctors treat sick patients all the time, but what happens when the doctors of Grey's Anatomy become the patients? We found out in this week's episode after a nasty flu made its way around the hospital.

After a patient sneezes on Arizona, she immediately knows that she'll be sick later in the day. Apparently it's some sort of sixth sense she's developed, which Alex mocks her about. She's not the only one, though - the hospital becomes overrun with patients dealing with flu-like symptoms and the staff starts to (literally) fall down one by one.

Arizona’s intuition forces her to move up her...

'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: Season 10 Episode 19 I'm Winning

April 16th, 2014 4:57pm EDT
Grey's Anatomy
Okay. Jumping right in... Christina gets nominated for a Harper Avery award, and while everyone else makes a big deal, she tries to play it cool. Meredith is seething with jealousy, but she covers it well, going overboard in showing her support by planning a champagne toast. Bailey is also very jealous, and at first refuses to talk to Christina about the nomination. Bailey has been stuck on her genome mapping project, and is just waiting for a breakthrough, hopefully one that can save the life of the boy with no immune system, who still hasn't been able to come out of his isolation. While w...

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Recap: ‘Do You Know?’

March 30th, 2014 12:31pm EDT
Grey's Anatomy
As we all slowly prepare to say goodbye to Dr. Cristina Yang, it’s only fitting that this week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy revolved around her uncertain future and how life could be with Owen if things were just a little bit different.

Cristina begins to imagine different scenarios of her life after an encounter with a patient. The patient, Jason, was in a severe car accident. Cristina flawlessly operates with Shane to fix Jason’s heart, but he’s paralyzed from the neck down. After surgery, Cristina speaks to Jason’s wife about his condition and reiterates that he will never be able to bre...

Which Two Doctors Are Leaving 'Grey's Anatomy'?
The next season of "Grey's Anatomy" will include two fewer doctors. Tessa Ferrer and Gaius Charles, who play Shane Ross and Leah Murphy, won't be returning as season regulars, according to ABC has yet to confirm the news.

The pair joined the ABC drama in season nine and were bumped to series regulars with co-stars Camilla Luddington and Jerikka Hinton in season 10.

This season, Murphy had an affair with Dr. Arizona Robbins, while Ross had a brief relationship with Sandra Oh's character, Dr. Cristina Yang.

Oh is also leaving this season. She told the Hollywood Reporter last ...

'Grey's Anatomy': We Gotta Get Out Of This Place (10x16)

March 25th, 2014 1:58pm EDT
'Grey's Anatomy': We Gotta Get Out Of This Place (10x16)
I'm gonna complain again. These reviews take too long. Okay let's go go go.

It's Dr. Webber's birthday. He expects people to make a big deal, but nobody does. In fact, he gets paperwork from Owen that seems to be pushing him towards retirement! He is understandably upset by this, but there is one good thing about this birthday: Bailey has found a patient who had absorbed his twin in the womb! It's incredibly rare. At first, the patient doesn't want to remove the twin, because he knows it's rare and wants to keep it. Webber promises to give him the twin once it's removed. However, once it i...

Recap: 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 10 Episode 15: Throwing it All Away

March 18th, 2014 12:35pm EDT
Recap: 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 10 Episode 15: Throwing it All Aw
I'm actually going to have a bit of a hard time summarizing this plot for you. It was very intricate, and a lot of the story lines wove together. I'll do my best!

First of all, Alex has been suspended from surgery for three days because of his outburst with the board about his relationship with Jo. Meredith tries to help out by suggesting that Alex and Jo sign a relationship contract, but Alex is afraid that this will freak Jo out, so soon after the whole proposal fiasco. Jo, for her part of the story, is startled to find a baby in the dumpster. She and Stephanie bring the baby into the ho...

Isaiah Washington To Return To 'Grey's Anatomy' 7 Years After Getting Fired

March 7th, 2014 2:25pm EST
Isaiah Washington To Return To 'Grey's Anatomy' 7 Years After Ge
Seven years after being fired from "Grey's Anatomy," actor Isaiah Washington will be making a guest appearance on the medical drama.

Washington made headlines in 2006 over a gay slur he allegedly made about gay co-star T.R. Knight during an on-set argument. Even though he apologized for his "unfortunate use of words," producers decided not to renew his contract at the end of season three in 2007.

Washington made matters worse backstage at the Golden Globe Awards in 2012 when he reiterated the offensive word as he attempted to play down the incident. He struggled to find acting work for so...

'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'Two Against One'

December 27th, 2013 8:27am EST
Grey's Anatomy
During this episode of Grey’s Anatomy, Meredith’s new printer causes tension between doctors, Bailey struggles with Ben’s return, April and Matthew tackle a serious relationship issue and Cristina and Shane work together to save a patient. Check out some of the highlights below:

Very superstitious - Ben stumbles upon Bailey searching through Tuck's room in the middle of the night. She's convinced her son left a piece of food in the room and although she swears she smells something, Ben says he doesn't. Bailey's obsessive warning signs follow her to work. She initially panics when Owen move...

'Grey's Anatomy' Star Sarah Drew Talks Christmas Album

December 21st, 2013 2:03pm EST
Sarah Drew
You know Sarah Drew as Dr. April Kepner on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, but this holiday season she's showcasing her musical side. Sarah is a member of Reindeer Tribe, a collective of folks who get together every year to record an album of Christmas music. With their new release, Sand On Sand On Sand, you can not only enjoy the music but donate to some very worthy causes. Sarah chatted with BFTV on Friday about the album, the charities, and her Christmas plans.

"I've always been pretty musical," she told us. "I grew up with a home full of classical music. My dad had classical music playing all th...

'Grey's Anatomy': Man On The Moon (10x11)

December 12th, 2013 1:01am EST
Grey's Anatomy
Okay. Lots to talk about, as always with this show. Let's dive right in.

April's three sisters are in town for her bachelorette party and impending wedding. They are all condescending and call her "ducky," which April explains refers to "ugly duckling." After putting up with them for quite some time, she finally publicly explodes at them and tells them that she's not their awkward unfortunate sister anymore. She fires them from being bridesmaids and elects Christina, Meredith, and Arizona as her new bridesmaids. While this is all going on, Matthew and Jackson have their own drama. The two ...

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Recap: ‘Thriller’

November 30th, 2013 11:38pm EST
Grey's Anatomy
“Halloween is not for the faint of heart. There’s a surprise around every corner. Some of the surprises are good. And some of the surprises are bad,” according to Meredith Grey.  And sure, there were some surprises during this episode! Check out some of the highlights from “Thriller” below:

Not so “easy-peasy” – Leah spends the night at Arizona’s place but slips out before breakfast, honoring Arizona’s wishes to keep things between them casual. Later at the hospital, Leah is bit by a “zombie” patient and freaks out at the thought of contracting HIV. Arizona walks in on Leah crying in the l...

'Grey's Anatomy': Somebody That I Used to Know (10x10)

November 25th, 2013 5:23pm EST
Grey's Anatomy
Let's dive right in, since we've got a bunch of different plot threads to get to.

Christina and Meredith are still fighting because of the printer. Christina and Shane's plans continue to get more complex, as they try to print a conduit for a dying child. This results in them needing to use the printer for longer, but Meredith is not having it. She tells Christina that it's over, and that she needs the printer back, but Shane then yells at Meredith, defending Christina. Christina, who had been looking for a "human sex toy," then kisses Shane. While all of this is going on, Meredith is plan...

'Grey's Anatomy': Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word (10x09)

November 16th, 2013 12:47pm EST
Grey's Anatomy
Sometimes these Grey's Anatomy posts really wear me out because there are so many plot lines to contend with, but this week was actually very different. The focus remained almost entirely on Callie Torres. I really, really liked this unusual format, because it gave a lot more time to focus on Callie and Arizona's characters, and the others were basically sidelined. I'd love to see some of the other characters given the same treatment in the future. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's take a look at this plot.

Callie is being sued for negligence in a case concerning a famous athlete. He ...

'Grey's Anatomy': Two Against One (10x08)

November 9th, 2013 6:44pm EST
Grey's Anatomy
This week, the plot is centered around Meredith's new 3-D printer and all the cool research she's going to do with it. There were, as always, a bajillion different plot threads going on. I'm going to keep the summary of each one very brief, and then list some pros and cons.

April and Matthew are struggling to decide whether or not to wait until marriage to have sex. Matthew wants to get it out of the way, because he's still hung up on the fact that April has already lost her virginity. In the end, April doesn't want him to break his promise to God, so they decide to wait.

Pros - This was ...

'Grey's Anatomy': Thriller (10x07)

November 3rd, 2013 8:12pm EST
Grey's Anatomy
Alright, we've got a Halloween themed episode this week, and it was actually quite a lot of fun. It always amazes me how much this show can fit into one episode without it feeling crowded, and this week is no exception. Let's jump right in and start going through these plots.

Webber has been teaching the (now second year) interns from his bedside, coaching them through his own case. When he wants one of the interns to perform the surgery, Bailey comes up with all sorts of reasons why it's not a good idea. In the end, however, Webber fires Bailey from his case and asks Meredith to take it o...

'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'Map of You'

November 3rd, 2013 6:58am EST
Grey's Anatomy
During this episode of Grey’s Anatomy, Derek and Callie team up for a project, Meredith dives into research, the interns struggle with their personal problems and Alex finds out more about his distant father. Check out some of the highlights below:

Map it out - Derek and Callie team up on a brain mapping project that was initially started by Callie for Arizona. Derek learns that his patient, a quadriplegic named Mickey, has a tumor so he has to take the sensors out of his brain. Mickey refuses to let him do so, unless Derek tries to take his life threatening tumor out at the same time. Aft...

'Grey's Anatomy' Review: I Bet It Stung (10x05)

October 20th, 2013 10:20pm EDT
Grey's Anatomy
Alright! A good episode that discussed a lot of different and important character dynamics. I really enjoyed this one.

Meredith is back at work, and excited to be scrubbing in on a heart/liver transplant with Christina (I know nothing about anything, but apparently this is a big deal sort of surgery, and it's very exciting to be involved with one). Bailey, who had initially been the surgeon dealing with the liver, is bitter about being replaced, but Meredith and Christina are just excited about doing groundbreaking surgery together.

There's only one problem - Meredith is too preoccupied w...

'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'I Bet It Stung'

October 18th, 2013 2:57pm EDT
Grey's Anatomy
During this week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, Meredith and Derek return to work, Callie tries to heal, Catherine Avery returns and Alex continues to ignore his father. Check out the highlights from last night’s episode:

“I shouldn’t have to choose” – When Meredith returns to work she’s surprised to see that Cristina will be operating on her former patient who needs a heart and liver transplant. Even though she’s just getting back into the swing of things, Meredith asks to scrub in on the complicated procedure. Cristina agrees to let her, as long as she prepares herself. Throughout the day ...

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Recap: ‘Puttin’ On the Ritz’

October 17th, 2013 8:42am EDT
Grey's Anatomy
Lights, camera, action!

Grey’s Anatomy celebrated its 200th episode in style as the doctors exchanged their scrubs for formal wear to raise money for the hospital. The party is cut short after a freak accident takes place in front of the guests but Jackson finds a way to save the night, as well as the hospital’s bank account. Check out some of the highlights from the episode:

Not so ‘ritzy’ – Jackson is horrified when he learns that the “tasteful, sophisticated, conservative” event he asked for turns into a spectacle of sorts, compliments of his party planner. The gala takes a turn for th...

Ellen Pompeo Gets Candid About Katherine Heigl's Exit From 'Grey's Anatomy'

Ellen Pompeo Gets Candid About Katherine Heigl's Exit From 'Grey
Ellen Pompeo has pulled no punches in an interview with the New York Post about Katherine Heigl's exit from "Grey's Anatomy" and the writer's desire to pair her character, Meredith Grey, with Isaiah Washington's Dr. Preston Burke.

Heigl left the series in 2010, and Pompeo explained: "You could understand why she wanted to go - when you're offered $12 million a movie and you're only 26. But Katie's problem is that she should not have renewed her contract. She re-upped, took a big raise and then tried to get off the show. And then her movie career did not take off."

Indeed, Heigl has strugg...

Grey's Anatomy
In this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy, Owen struggles to assemble the board together to talk about the storm ravaged hospital. His initial attempts are overlooked as the doctors try to deal with their own personal issues. Meredith and Derek start to adapt to life with their newborn, Arizona and Callie still aren't speaking to one another, Cristina and Owen have reached an awkward level in their on and off again relationship and Webber proves to be a difficult patient. Fall 2013 TV Report (So Far)

October 5th, 2013 2:06pm EDT
Sleepy Hollow
Here’s how the Fall TV season has been shaping up.

ABC doesn’t have a lot to celebrate about. Once Upon A Time and Revenge are both down season-to-season, yet up from last season’s finales. So, really, you could say they are even for the night. Their new drama, Betrayal, however is a disappointment. Low ratings. Does ABC have anything ready to replace Betrayal though? They’re already definitely going to cancel the much lower rated Lucky 7 (an almost certainty), can they afford to axe two shows?

CBS has a nice strong lineup of returning shows, all performing well. FOX’s shows are ...

'Grey's Anatomy' Recap: 'Seal Our Fate' And 'I Want You With Me'

October 2nd, 2013 12:03pm EDT
Grey’s Anatomy
The two-hour season premiere of Grey's Anatomy picks right back up in the midst of the storm the doctors were fighting through at the end of season nine. In typical Grey's Anatomy fashion, the cliffhangers that fans were left with last season were somewhat resolved - at least for now. The premiere brought highs, lows and a shocking death. Here are the highlights:

Seattle Grace Mercy Death - Although Webber's life was in jeopardy at the end of last season and for much of the premiere, he ends up making it out alive but there was another familiar casualty from the storm. Shane, out of jealou...

'Grey's Anatomy' : I Want You With Me (10x02)

September 28th, 2013 9:27pm EDT
Grey's Anatomy
And here we have Part Two of the premiere. Oh boy.

Heather doesn't make it. Shane feels responsible for her death, and the other interns are all stunned. The four of them are told to think of good Heather memories for when Heather's mom arrives, and as they try to think of something, they realize that none of them had been a very good friend to her. Throughout the course of the episode, they share secrets and bond like they never have before. I find myself really enjoying the intern characters, and I like the way this show is setting itself up to keep on going indefinitely. I would keep wa...
