Watch Sneak Peeks From The New Seasons Of 'Merlin' & 'Ghost Hunters'

In the first sneak peek, Merlin struggles with his magic and finds himself being attacked by a mysterious skeltal ghost though luckily, one of Arthurs men was able to ward it off by waving fire before him. Quickly, Arthur and his men come running behind and urges everyone to retreat to a safer place. Next, we see the mayhem back at the castle and we witness the ghost taking the life of a guard leaving Gwynervere fearful and terrified.

Tune-in to the season premiere of "Merlin" on Friday, Jan. 6, to find out of Merlin can regain his powers to destroy the evil demon.

While the cable networks still lag far behind the broadcast networks in the ratings department (well, four of them anyway), they have made great strides in terms of matching, and often times exceeding, the big dogs when it comes to quality original programming.

At no time of the year is this trend more evident than in the summer. While the broadcast networks are unsurprisingly going with a bevy of unscripted fare (including entirely too many reality competition shows), the cable networks are once again proving to be the place to turn for quality, original, SCRIPTED programming.

Gossip Girl (The CW, 8 p.m.) - OMG, it's back, finally! Judging from tonight's episode title - "The Blair Bitch Project" - Jenny is not going to be sitting pretty for long.

Greek (ABC Family, 8 p.m.) - A flashback episode sheds light on how the Casey/Cappie/Evan love triangle started during freshman year.

How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30 p.m.) - The 80s make a return in tonight's Robin Sparkles comeback episode, which features James van der Beek, Tiffany and Alan Thicke in a music video for Robin's break-up ballad, "Sandcastles in the Sand."

SCI FI Channel Unveils Summer Programming

SCI FI Channel is about to launch its biggest summer yet with a lineup featuring all-new originals and the return of some of last year's most popular shows. Last year's record-breaking hit dramedy Eureka returns as does an even bigger season of the competition series Who Wants to be A Superhero? with Stan Lee, all-new investigations with the Ghost Hunters, and season 3 of Doctor Who.

Summer will also introduce viewers to a contemporary re-imagined take on Flash Gordon, the investigative adventure reality series Destination Truth and the mind-twisting British mentalist Derren Brown.
