While paying his first visit to the Banks' country club, Will (Will Smith) falls for attractive Mimi Mumford (Victoria Rowell), who happens to be the daughter of a snobbish--and rather menacing--physician (played by Richard Roundtree) of "Shaft" fame). Terrified of "Dr. No", Will turns to cousin Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro) for advice on how to win over the girl's dad.
