Thanksgiving is a few short weeks away, and before you slice into those turkeys, let’s take a look back at the new TV shows that are thriving and those that don’t have a Thanksgiving prayer. We’ll break it down by category.

Modest Hits

(We would have had a full-on “Hits” category, but there are certainly no runaways so far.) FOX’s ‘New Girl’ can be deemed a first-season success. Hank Azaria's New Show Canceled After Three Episodes

Hank Azaria
The Smurfs star Hank Azaria's new TV comedy has been cancelled after failing to win over viewers.

Free Agents has been axed after just three episodes.

In the show, Azaria played a recently divorced man trying to get back into the dating game with a colleague, played by Kathryn Hahn.

The show was based on a British series starring Stephen Mangan and Sharon Horgan.

Fall 2011 TV Premiere Dates

Labor Day is over, signaling the unofficial end of summer and the start of the new TV season. While television is somewhat entertaining during June, July, and August, it's the fall debuts that many TV addicts anticipate.

Next week the networks start rolling out new and returning series, kicking off with "90210" and "Ringer" on the CW on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

NBC Announces New Fall TV Shows, 2011-12 Schedule

NBC just introduced its 2011-12 primetime schedule, showcasing six new dramas and six new comedies from a roster of renowned hitmakers that includes Steven Spielberg, Lorne Michaels, Brian Grazer, Tom Werner, John Grisham and Peter Berg, among many others.

The season's new dramas are "Smash," "Prime Suspect," "The Playboy Club," "Awake," "Grimm" and "The Firm"; and the new comedies are "Up All Night," "Whitney," "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," "Free Agents," "Best Friends Forever" and "Bent."
