What Celebrities Would Be 'Horrible Bosses'?

July 8th, 2011 10:30am EDT
Horrible Bosses
“Horrible Bosses,” a black comedy starring funnymen Jason Bateman, Charlie Day (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) and Jason Sudeikis, is about three friends who conspire to kill each other’s torturous bosses. Although it doesn’t premiere in theaters until July 8, I have already heard buzz about the film’s epic hilarity from people who have attended early screenings. In honor of the movie's release (that also boasts the comedic stylings of Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey, a brunette Jennifer Aniston and a beer-bellied, balding Colin Farrell), I’m using my powers of imagination for good and ex...

Shia LaBeouf: 'My Father Was Never Around Because He Was Selling Drugs To Keep Us Alive'

September 29th, 2010 8:38am EDT
Shia LaBeouf
Shia Labeouf has credited his fame with maintaining his relationship with his dad - the actor insists without his glamorous career he "would have no father."

The Transformers actor was determined to succeed as a movie star so his dad Jeffrey would be able to stop selling cannabis to fund the family. And LaBeouf is thankful he broke into the industry as a youngster, because having his father on-set of TV show Even Stevens helped rebuild the pair's relationship.

He tells Britain's The Sun, "My father was never around because he was selling drugs to keep us alive. And my mother was never ar...

Shia LaBeouf: A Former Disney Star Who Is Bucking The Trend

June 23rd, 2009 10:12am EDT
Shia LaBeouf
Shia LaBeouf is an interesting young Hollywood star because unlike a variety of former Disney stars, he's managed to slide his way into the adult acting world with very few bad moves.

Born to an interesting family in California, his mother a ballerina/designer and his father a former mime, his name means "Gift from God" in Hebrew and is often mispronounced by fans and critics alike (it's SHY-uh). Shia started acting as a child, starting in "Caroline in the City," but he became famous for playing Louis Stevens in the Disney show "Even Stevens."

This success came rather quickly for Shi...

Today's Child Stars Struggle To Become Serious Entertainers

July 2nd, 2008 9:01am EDT
Cole and Dylan Sprouse
We saw it with Drew Barrymore and then again years later with Lindsay Lohan and most recently with Mary-Kate Olsen. Current "It" stars like the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus will undoubtedly follow suit in the next few years.

They are child stars that want to turn into more serious entertainers as they get older, hoping the fans that are also growing up will follow them into more adult ventures. They take on roles they perceive as "serious" or "artsy," they change their look to try to separate themselves from their younger image, and they often take behind-the-scenes hybrid titles...

Shia LaBeouf Was A Street Performer

May 13th, 2008 4:17pm EDT
Shia LaBeouf
Shia LaBeouf had an unusual preparation for his acting career - he spent his childhood working as a street performer with his father.

LaBeouf, whose father is a retired Vietnam War veteran, grew up selling snacks and entertaining strangers before he was spotted and landed a role in 2000 Disney series Even Stevens.

He remembers of his past, "It's pretty colorful. We grew up in Echo Park (California), a real Latin neighborhood. We used to sell hot dogs to get by, that was our thing. (My father) took an old (soap) cart and we painted it; we had these snow cone things and we would a...

'Even Stevens' Gave Shia LeBeouf 'A Father, Career & a Life'

April 26th, 2007 8:26am EDT
Shia LaBeouf
Shia LaBeouf repaired his relationship with his former drug addict father by paying him $800 a week to be his guardian on the set of TV series Even Stevens. LaBeouf was just 13 when he was required to work over 100 miles north of his native Los Angeles on the Disney television series.

At the time, his dad Jeffrey was recovering from a crippling heroin addiction and needed a job - so Shia decided to employ his own father as his legal guardian.

He says, "I didn't have a relationship with him beforehand. After the heroin thing, he went into the Veterans' Administration hospital to ...
