Patsy Palmer to trade EastEnders for Hollywood

British TV actress Patsy Palmer has announced plans to quit BBC soap Eastenders after 30 years and start life in Los Angeles.

The 41 year old, who has played Bianca in the show on and off since 1993, will be leaving this autumn (14), but her character will not be killed off and producers plan to leave her departure open ended, so Palmer can return in the future.

Actor Robert Kazinsky was left penniless as he struggled to find work after leaving his native Britain and moving to Los Angeles.

The True Blood star, who found fame on long-running British TV soap EastEnders, found it hard to make ends meet as he tried to break into Hollywood.

He tells People magazine, "I didn't work for two years (after moving to Los Angeles). I had lost motivation and had $3 to my name. But just waking up to sunlight makes your struggle that much happier."

British actress Michelle Ryan has beaten out competition from some of Hollywood's leading ladies to land the title role in a TV update of 1970s television show The Bionic Woman.
