British Actress Kate O'Mara, Famous For Starring On ABC's 'Dynasty,' Dies At 74

Former Dynasty actress Kate O'Mara died over the weekend, succumbing to a brief illness in a nursing home in Sussex, England.

"A shining star has gone out and Kate will be dearly missed by all who knew and have worked with her," her agent, Phil Belfield, said in a statement.

O'Mara was best known for her work on the hit ABC series, one of the first 'prime time soap operas' on TV, which aired from 1981-89. She played Cassandra 'Caress' Morell, the sister of Alexis Colby (Joan Collins).

Veteran actress Joan Collins is marking her recent 80th birthday with a new role on U.K. sitcom Benidorm.

The Dynasty star celebrated the milestone last Thursday (23May13) but she is refusing to slow down and revealed to fans on Tuesday (28May13) that she is heading back to the small screen to play a character called Crystal - the same name as her former TV nemesis, played by Linda Evans.

In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Looking forward to going to Spain to be in Benidorm. And I'm playing Crystal yes I am!! But not the Dynasty one."

TV legend Joan Collins was taken to the hospital during the post-Oscars Vanity Fair party after her figure-hugging dress left her feeling faint.

The Dynasty star attended the magazine's bash at Hollywood's Sunset Tower Hotel in a tight-fitting lilac gown, but after mixing with A-listers for several hours, the 77 year old began to feel dizzy.

Dynasty star Robert Symonds has died of complications from prostate cancer. He was 80.

The actor, who played Dr. Jonas Edwards on the cult TV soap from 1982 to 1987, will also be remembered for movie roles in The Exorcist and Micki & Maude, in which he starred with his wife Priscilla Pointer.

But Symonds is perhaps best known to theatre fans in America after teaming up with Pointer in a series of hit plays that wowed critics in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
