'Torchwood' Episode Recap: Exit Wounds

4/21/2008 10:53am EDT
My dear sweet Torchwood, you've taken us all on quite a ride this season. You began with a handful of top-notch episodes, keeping us laughing and gripping the edge of our seats waiting for what happens next. Then things got a bit shaky for awhile, and some viewers were beginning to doubt you could hold our attentions until the end. Sure, there were fantastic episodes along the way, like Gwen's wedding, but there were also missteps such as the circus people. So were you able to restore our faith in this diamond in the rough, or did we click off halfway through a patented Jack-scowl?

What's The Best Show On TV Right Now? Starpulse Writers Weigh In

4/21/2008 8:33am EDT
Best TV Show?
What makes a TV show great? Is it the number of viewers or awards it has received? Not necessarily. In its last season, less than 3 million people tuned in to an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," but it is unarguably one of the best sci-fi/fantasy shows of all time. In seven seasons, the show won just one Emmy - in 1998 for outstanding makeup. Guess what other fan favorite won just one Emmy (also for outstanding makeup)? Gilmore Girls.

Despite both series' original and witty screenwriting, they never received the props they deserved. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Lauren Graham bo...

'Torchwood' Has Been A Rollercoaster Of Emotions & Quality

3/31/2008 9:03am EDT
Ever wonder what the Torchwood crew does on their night off? Well, Tosh continues to work because she has no life to speak of and Jack probably does things I can't repeat here, but as for the rest of the team, they go to the movies. Ianto takes Gwen and Owen to the Electro, an old time movie house where they think they're going to be treated to a history of Cardiff. Gwen and Owen are understandably prepared to be bored, but Ianto is all about the black and white silent films.

While preparing the film, the son of the Electro owners notices that there is some creepy footage of sideshow f...

Torchwood Episode Recap: A Day in the Death

3/17/2008 10:09am EDT
You know what happens when you die? Well I learned from this week's episode of Torchwood that you become quite chatty and look to help others. This is really ruining my hope for a zombie apocalypse when everyone comes back from the dead a philosopher. So when we left our heroes, Owen was given an undetermined amount of time to "live" while the rest of the gang decides what to do with him. Oh, and Martha Jones is there, but you probably didn't notice her in the background, you know, right to the left of all the actual action.

So this week we have two storylines going on, both involving ...

Death, Alien Larva & More On 'Torchwood'

3/3/2008 9:05am EST
After last week's disappointing episode, Torchwood makes a triumphant return to form in the episode "Reset," which may not be the funniest episode this season, but it sure was the best. Torchwood working as a team, an alien mystery to solve, and one hell of a cliffhanger. Oh, and a little guest star in the form of Ms. Martha Jones, or should I say, Doctor Jones? (Freema Ageyman).

So we open with a medical mystery where unrelated murders are taking place, only nobody knows how exactly the victims are getting murdered, as there are no murder weapons and no apparent cause of death. Torchw...

'Doctor Who's' Freema Agyeman & 'Ugly Betty's' Alan Dale Guest Star On 'Torchwood'

2/14/2008 8:05am EST
Alan Dale
BBC America's top-rated series, Torchwood, exploded into season two with guest star James Marsters (Buffy) and now episode six brings a highly anticipated cross-over with Doctor Who's Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) and a menacing guest role for Alan Dale (Ugly Betty, The O.C.).

Created by Russell T. Davies, lead writer on the current "Doctor Who," the high-octane second season has taken a stronger "Torchwood" team through dare-devil action, temptation, heartache - and now they face a life changing event.

"Torchwood" season two airs Saturdays, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

'Torchwood' Episode Recap: To the Last Man

2/11/2008 9:59am EST
Every year Torchwood brings Tommy, a British solider, out of cryogenic sleep. Apparently he's supposed to save the world. For the past 90 years he has not been needed. All that is about to change.

Ahh...stories about time paradoxes, if you think too hard about them your brain is likely to turn to oatmeal and force its way out of your ears. So let me try to explain it. The rift in Cardiff is pushing together two different time periods, 1918 and 2008. Since two times cannot exist at the same time all hell will break loose. The only way to close the time rift is to have Tommy, a soldier f...

An Exclusive Q&A With 'Torchwood' Star Burn Gorman

2/7/2008 11:00am EST
Burn Gorman
Sex, aliens, and shooting your boss - they're all just a typical day if you're Burn Gorman of BBC America's hit show Torchwood. Starpulse recently spoke with Gorman, who portrays Owen Harper the team's morally ambiguous doctor. From guest stars to script surprises, we learn just how much fun working for an alien hunting organization can be.

(Editor's note: In the UK, seasons of a television show are called series.)

First off, congratulations on the success of the show.

Thank you very much

Were you surprised with the strong positive reaction the show has received in America...

'Torchwood' Season 2 Premiere: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

1/28/2008 11:45am EST
When last we left our heroes at "Torchwood" the team had survived an attack by one giant ass alien from the rift. Everyone hugged and kissed and was happy, and then Captain Jack Harkness heard a familiar noise and disappeared from Torchwood headquarters.

What's going on now?

Gwen took on the role of the team leader and seems to be doing well with teammates Ianto, Toshiko, and Owen. They end up in a relatively polite car chase with a fish-headed alien that ends with a hostage situation and the return of Jack.

Wait, didn't I see Spike in the previews?

That's right, Buffy/...

Need Something To Watch? Check Out BBC America (They Have More Than Funny Accents)

1/4/2008 12:59pm EST
Oh these cold winter months. In years past we could warm ourselves with the knowledge that our favorite shows would return in the new year and provide us with solid entertainment until May. Unfortunately all that changed this year.

With the Writers Guild of America still on the picket lines, faithful television watchers must look elsewhere for new entertainment. This means venturing into the uncharted realm of expanded digital cable. Nestled within this wasteland of depravity and cooking shows lies BBC America. Is it a beacon of light in the darkness? We'd like to think that it is. So...
