11/16/2015 2:47pm EST
Trevor Noah
Trevor Noah, who replaced Jon Stewart as host of 'The Daily Show' on Comedy Central earlier this year, has spoken out on the stereotyping of Muslims following Friday's terrorist attacks in Paris, France.

Noah was a performer on Saturday during the sold-out New York Comedy Festival. Noah dedicated a section of his performance to the serious issue.

"We saw it with the attacks yesterday," Noah told the audience at the sold-out Town Hall theater. "Immediately people say 'it's Muslims. It's Islam. I hate that religion'. It's not the religion. Islam means peace. I'm not even Muslim, but I'm not...

Check Out Our Emmy Prediction & Wish List For Variety Series

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
The 2015 Emmy nominations will be announced Thursday, July 16. In the next few days, we will be offering our predictions and wish lists for the major categories.

For the predictions, our choices have naturally been limited to what shows and performers are actually on the ballot. But for the wish lists, no such limit was imposed. This is a “wish list” after all, and one can wish that someone who was left off the ballot had not been.

One of the biggest Emmy rule changes this year is that the Variety Series category has now been split into Variety Talk and Variety Sketch. With this field do...

'The Daily Show With Amy Poehler' Was Almost A Real Thing

6/22/2015 11:57am EDT
Amy Poehler
The Daily Show With Amy Poehler was almost a reality. Except for one thing: Amy Poehler had zero interest in becoming the next Jon Stewart. According to a piece in The New York Times, Comedy Central originally had two big celebs in their sights for filling Jon Stewart's Daily Show seat: Chris Rock and Amy Poehler.

And Amy Poehler couldn't have said "no" faster. According to the piece, Comedy Central called up Poehler to "gauge her interest." Her interest? Non-existent. “They were pretty much expecting her to say no, and it was the quickest no in history," says an source close to the networ...

'The Daily Show's' Police Assault Bikini

Jessica Williams' McKinney Bikini: 'Daily Show' Skewers Texas Po
Jessica Williams and "The Daily Show" just skewered the recent viral video out of McKinney, Texas- where a white police officer shoved a 14-year old girl to the ground and waved his gun at a group of unarmed black teenagers at a pool party.

Horrifying stuff. But as usual, "The Daily Show" flips the most upsetting stories of the day into some pretty terrific comedy.

For their McKinney bit, Williams appeared as the show's "Senior Texas Aquatics Correspondent" at a McKinney swimming pool (not really- she's just standing in front of a green screen). Williams wore a flowery pink bikini, a pair...

Do You Want Tina Fey To Host 'The Daily Show'?

3/13/2015 10:45am EDT
Poll: Fans Want Tina Fey To Host 'The Daily Show'
When Jon Stewart announced he was leaving The Daily Show after 16 years last month, speculation immediately began about who could replace him. Those are not exactly easy shoes to fill, as Stewart has single-handedly turned The Daily Show into an American instittuion that has great influence within the political landscape.

The hunt for his replacement has been further complicated by the fact that a number of top Daily Show correspondents, like Jason Jones and Samantha Bee, have announced that they will also leave the show soon for other projects.

But if a new poll conducted by Quinnipiac U...

Why Is Jon Stewart Leaving 'The Daily Show'?

2/11/2015 8:20am EST
Jon Stewart Leaving 'The Daily Show' This Year
After 17 years hosting "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Jon Stewart is retiring.

Stewart dropped that bombshell on an unsuspecting audience last night, revealing that 2015 would be his last year hosting "The Daily Show."

Stewart's contract will expire in September, but it's not clear if he'll ride the contract out until the end, or call it quits earlier.

Why is our nation's premiere newsman/comedian/wacky late night host stepping down from the show that made him a household name? It's not 100% clear- but it sounds like Stewart's getting a little bored with the job.

In announcing his d...

With viewers increasingly moving towards streaming programming, what does it even mean to be a TV network in the 21st century? Bill O'Reilly And Jon Stewart Have EPIC Fued Over 'White Privile
Bill O'Reilly may have come to Jon Stewart's "Daily Show" to promote his book "Killing Patton" but their polite conversation took a turn for the worse and escalated into a verbal shouting match.

Stewart revealed he hadn't read the book the political commentator was there to promote.

Instead, Stewart asked the conservative if there was such a thing as "white privilege" as O'Reilly had already expressed the idea as untrue.

Said O'Reilly to the question posed by Stewart, "Okay, look, if there's white privilege, then there has to be Asian privilege because Asians make more money than whites....

'The Daily Show' Uses Kristen Schaal To Explain GOP's 'Winning T
According to "The Daily Show's" Jon Stewart, in the 2014 midterm elections, women will have the swing vote. Republicans will be working harder than ever to grab the female vote from Democrats. To prove his point, Stewart asked Senior Women's Issues Correspondent Kristen Schaal to voice her opinion.

Said Schaal, "Women don't see candidates as potential leaders, we see them as possible soul mates and Republicans are finally running ads to reflect that."

Stewart stated that women will be the deciding vote of which party is in control of the Senate.

"Usually women are a sure thing for Democ...

Jon Stewart
After taking the summer off, Jon Stewart returned to his "Daily Show" duties on Tuesday night. The comedian took a 12-week sabbatical in Jordan to work on the documentary "Rosewater" about Middle Eastern politics. His seat was filled by British comic John Oliver in his absence.

Stewart jokingly told the audience that he missed them: "You don't know what it's like out there in the real world. Nobody applauds every stupid little thing you do."

The late-night host showed up with a large beard and tan, and staff tried to Americanize him with a McDonald's Big Mac defribilator. Stephen Colbert ...

"Once again having to start under just horrific events," Jon Stewart said in his opening to The Daily Show, in reference to his shows following 9/11 and the school shootings in Newtown, "Here in this country I really hate the fact that I can cross-reference my thoughts to other events that occurred over the years of a similar ilk.

"So I'm not going to, I'm just going to say this to Boston: Thank you for showing once again, in the face of gro...

A Few Minutes With... 'The Daily Show' Correspondent Samantha Bee (sponsored)

Samantha Bee
As a correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show, it's Samantha Bee's job to satirize the news and make light of the often head-scratching truths out there in the world. Off-camera, she's now partnering with beauty giant Dove for their "Close the Case on Care" project, which is aimed at helping women find their best beauty products. The concept recently launched via Dove's Facebook page.

Samantha recently spoke with me to give me the rundown on the new campaign, a nifty little thing called "Truth Tuesdays," and if there are any non-satirical newscasters that pass muster with her.

Actress Jessica Chastain has revealed the CIA agent who inspired her character in Zero Dark Thirty was passed over for promotion after helping to track down terrorist leader Osama bin Laden - because she was so unpopular.

But, during an appearance on The Daily Show on Wednesday night, Chastain revealed her muse is not a CIA golden girl, despite the fact she is responsible fo...

Hugh Grant will never be a guest again on Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show." The host just revealed the British actor was his most unpleasant guest and isn't welcome back. But Grant isn't too upset by the declaration.

During an interview with fellow comedian Stephen Colbert at the Montclair Film Festival in New Jersey last week, Stewart opened up about his 2009 encounter with Grant, who was booked on the show to promote his film "Did You Hear About the Morgans?"

Stewart recalled, "He's giving everyone s**t the whole time, and he's a big pain in the a**."

Stewart was particularly irritated w...

The bald X-Men actor wore a black wig for the skit, during which he used Shakespearean language to report the latest news.

Stewart then revealed his true identity and joked he, "(Al) Pacino, (Meryl Streep) and Glenn Close and the incomparable Mandy Patinkin" had been drafted in as "replacement correspondents" afte...

"What have you been up to?" Jon Stewart asked Robert Pattinson on Monday when the "Twilight" actor joined the comedic news anchor to discuss his new film "Cosmopolis." That's the million dollar question.

It was Pattinson's first TV interview since the world found out his girlfriend Kristen Stewart cheated on him with her "Snow White And The Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders.

The animal-loving comedian admits he's happy to do everything in his power to raise awareness about the world's endangered species, but he thinks pandas could be doing more to help themselves.

Appearing on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Tuesday, Gervais joked, "We're all rushing around going, 'Let's save the panda, let's save the panda' - but they're not meeting us halfway. They're not having sex.

"When did they stop having sex? When did they (become) middle-class bohemians going, 'We...

Jordan Peele
Jordan Peele and his partner Keegan-Michael Key are out to bring a different brand of sketch comedy to television.

With their new series Key & Peele, which bows tonight on Comedy Central (10:30 ET/PT), they're aiming for many different targets. Last week they put a new spin on the State of the Union address and other sketches spoof Nazis and fraternities.

The former MadTV alums are entering a TV landscape where sketch comedy can be hit or miss. Some say Saturday Night Live is in decline. Other sketch shows have come and gone. What's going to make their show different? I sat down with Jord...

Stephen Colbert Hands Over PAC To Jon Stewart, Forms Presidential Exploratory Commitee

1/13/2012 11:00am EST
Stephen Colbert, The Colbert Report
After teasing a big announcement Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert used his time on the Colbert Report to close a loophole that would have kept him from running for President.

Current rules dictate that a candidate cannot also be the head of a Political Action Committee, nor can he or she tell the committee how to spend its money. Thanks to Citizens United, PACs can take infinite amounts of donations from corporations because they are now considered "people "in the eyes of American law, so having a PAC supporting you means big cash as a candidate.

So, Colbert simply tra...
