Alison Brie Jogged Naked Around Her College Campus

5/25/2012 8:14am EDT
Alison Brie
Community star Alison Brie tested her liberal college's optional clothing policy by jogging around campus wearing nothing but running shoes.

The actress attended California Institute of the Arts and was thrilled by the college's public nudity policy - and often tested it.

Brie says, "I would use it more for comedy purposes... Every now and then I would just throw on my tennies (tennis shoes) and, like, take a jaunt... to exercise my rights.

"If my roommate was having a bad day and I wanted to make her laugh to feel better, I would sort of pretend I was gonna take a shower and then I w...

'Two And A Half Men' Moving To Thursday Nights

5/17/2012 10:35am EDT
Two and a Half Men
CBS had announced that Two and a Half Men won't be returning to Monday nights this fall, and will instead be airing after The Big Bang Theory on Thursday nights to create a comedy block.

Big Bang Theory has mostly failed as a lead-in to other shows on the network (How to be a Gentlemen, Rules of Engagement and Rob all sputtered after the hit comedy). Surprise hit 2 Broke Girls will be moved to Monday to take up the vacated timeslot.

The move could possibly bring 2 and a Half Men higher ratings, as it will no longer compete with ESPN's Monday Night Football in the fall. However, it will ...

'30 Rock' To End After Next Season

5/11/2012 11:45am EDT
30 Rock
Tina Fey's hit comedy 30 Rock will come to an end after one more season.

The series has been a critical smash since it first aired in 2006, and has won a string of Emmys and Golden Globe awards.

It was reported Fey's co-star Alec Baldwin was leaving the hit show earlier this year, but bosses at NBC have confirmed the main cast will all return for a seventh and final run.

The move comes amid falling ratings for the show, which has attracted star cameos from Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Susan Sarandon, Matt Damon and environment campaigner Al Gore.

When asked by a fan on Twitter.c...

The stars of hit movie Bridesmaids were the toast of The Comedy Awards in New York City over the weekend as the film landed four of the night's top trophies.

Melissa McCarthy, who won an Oscar nomination for her part in the movie, scooped Best Performance by an Actress during the Comedy Central prize giving at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan on Saturday night.

The actress' co-star Kristen Wiig shared the Best Comedy Screenplay prize with her co-writer Annie Mumolo, and the pair drew laughs from the audience by pretending to wrestle for the trophy on stage.

Joel McHale Hopes Chevy Chase Drama Will Help Get 'Community' Renewed

4/13/2012 8:35am EDT
Community
"Community" star Joel McHale hopes the public war of words between his co-star Chevy Chase and show creator Dan Harmon will lead to a spike in ratings for the show because the series has yet to get picked up for a fourth season.

Chase famously lashed out against Harmon during a expletive-laden voicemail earlier this month, calling the scriptwriter an a**hole and an alcoholic. The message went viral after Harmon aired the clip at a Los Angeles comedy club.

The pair has continued to hurl insults at one another, with the writer confessing he should not have gone public with the audio.

Interview: Upbeat Joel McHale And Dan Harmon Talk 'Community'

3/16/2012 3:00pm EDT
community
“I don’t want to raise expectations, but this is going to be the greatest second half of any television show in the history of the world.” He may be joking, but Community star Joel McHale’s upbeat attitude perfectly echoes the feelings of the legions of fans who have been anxiously awaiting the return of TV’s most inventive and creative comedy. After being put on hiatus by NBC back in November (never a good sign for a show which has struggled to increase viewership), Community returned last night with a long-awaited new episode called “Urban Matrimony and the Sandwich Arts.”

Jim Rash Denies Mocking Angelina Jolie's Leggy Oscars Pose

Comedian Jim Rash insists he mimicked Angelina Jolie's striking, leggy Academy Awards pose as he collected the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay as a "loving tribute" to the Hollywood beauty.

The Community star and co-writers Alexander Payne and Nat Faxon picked up the award for their work on The Descendants at Sunday's big event, and Rash raised a laugh onstage by copying the strong pose Jolie had adopted while reading out the nominees minutes earlier.

Flaunting her long right leg through the slit of her black velvet Atelier Versace dress, Jolie wowed the audience and TV viewers, but i...

Will This Be The End Of 'Community' Or Can Greendale Be Saved?

12/12/2011 3:15pm EST
community
NBC’s “Community,” a show that is “streets ahead” of its contemporaries, is likely to suffer the same fate as another famous show that couldn’t be saved by its cult status: FOX’s “Arrested Development” which ran from 2003-2006 and arguably launched the TV-on-DVD phenomenon. Like “Development,” the brilliance of “Community” comes from the show’s unwillingness to pander to the audience or go for cheap laughs (unless they are intentional/ironic). The writers of the show are also keen on building up punch lines over the course of an entire season and even stretching jokes across seasons. Even t...

'Community' Recap: Documentary Filmmaking: Redux

community
There is a very real chance that last night’s episode of “Community” will be one of the last episodes ever. NBC announced this week that it is putting “Community” on hiatus until spring 2012. The decision came as a result of wanting to inject mid-season programming into Thursday nights. For fans of the show, this decision was a punch to the stomach. The loyal Greendale followers who tune in every week are diehard supporters of “Community,” but their number is too small to ensure the show will have a future. “Community” has struggled from the beginning to find a large audience and this strug...

'Up All Night' Recap: 'Hiring and Firing'

Up All Night on NBC
Since the news broke that the Schmitties at NBC decided to handle the return of “30 Rock” by pulling “Community” (aka the best show on TV) from its mid-season lineup, a lot of anger has been directed (deservedly) at “Whitney,” which will get a move to Wednesday instead of a much-needed mercy killing, and (not-so-deservedly) "Up All Night," which will take the Thursday, 9:30 pm timeslot. Although I’m pretty irritated about the “Community” debacle, my fondness for “Up All Night” (and especially my fondness for Will Arnett) has led me to defend it to the many who hate it. So, I was really hopi...

'Community' Recap: Advanced Gay

11/4/2011 11:08am EDT
Community
This week, “Community” returned to the standard sitcom narrative style after the strange (but brilliant) digressions of “Remedial Chaos Theory” and “Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps.” In “Advanced Gay,” a terrifically tongue-in-cheek title, the “Community” crew somehow finds a way to jam several different storylines into one 22-minute episode.

The episode opens in the cafeteria with a continuation of the Troy-as-a-“Good-Will-Hunting”-like-plumbing-genius story that has been brewing since early last season. After helping one of the janitors with a problem pipe, he is told that he has a...

'Community' Recap: Horror Fiction In Seven Spooky Steps

This year’s Halloween episode of “Community” was slightly schizophrenic but not completely without entertainment value. This episode was especially fun for Alison Brie as Annie was able to get a little dark and disturbed while still teasing/flaunting her sexuality. Troy and Abed continue to grow closer and at one point (albeit in a fantasy) they reach a point a true happiness.

The episode opens with everyone gathered in the library “pre-partying” before that night’s actual campus Halloween party. Jeff comes dressed as a generic “The Fast and the Furious” character because he thinks girls ...

The big global news yesterday was the capture and death of Libyan Dictator Moammar Gadhafi at the hands of rebels. Of course, celebrities took to their Twitter accounts to react to the stunning news.

Head SNL writer Seth Meyers tweeted: "Gadhaffi's last words were 'How my hair look, Mike?' #Unconfirmed" and "And he was so close to making general #Gadhaffi."

Seth then pointed readers to comic Colin Quinn, who wrote a series of tweets on the situation as was receiving angry responses. Quinn wrote posts such as "Another great innovator who started in the 80's and regained popularity recently...

'Community' Recap: Competitive Ecology

10/10/2011 7:55am EDT
community 3
The most recent episode of NBC’s “Community” is, in some ways, one of its most meta and self-referential outings. Greendale Community College’s motley study group always seems to be spending more time arguing and screwing off then actually studying (a serious complaint from the show’s critics). In “Competitive Ecology,” the writers, in their unique way, address those who take issue with that aspect of the show.

The team’s Biology professor, Dr. Kane, tells the class that they’ll be partnering up to build a terrarium which will be due the next day. Instead of letting the students choose the...

Here's a pic of Betsy on the set. In case you missed it, you can also read my interview with her about this season of Breaking Bad, which airs its season finale this Sunday at 10 PM ET/PT on AMC.

'Community' Recap: Geography of Global Conflict

A delightful surprise in the second episode of this season was that the main storyline focuses on Annie and some of the demons she has left over from her high school days. Alison Brie is one of the most talented members of the cast and she is often sidelined as just a supporting player. It’s nice to see her stretch a little bit.

The episode opens in a World History class where our Annie is shocked to learn that another student, Annie Kim (Irene Choi), is just as smart, perky and tenacious as she was in high school. Other Annie gets special attention from Professor Cligoris (Martin Starr) w...

Interview: Joel McHale And Guest Star John Goodman Joke About Third Season Of 'Community'

“John [Goodman] is terribly disruptive. He parked his car on the stage and said ‘This is my parking space,’” Joel McHale says of the sitcom legend who is guest starring on this season of “Community.” Goodman clarifies, “I parked it on a stagehand.” The two are joking, obviously, but this back and forth banter is a perfect example of the hour-long “gush fest” the two actors engaged in when discussing the new season of “Community.”

McHale returns for Season Three as Jeff Winger, the cocky ex-lawyer who runs a small, ragtag study group at Greendale Community College. Goodman will appear as Vi...
