Courtney Love has publicly thanked former Friends star Lisa Kudrow for taking on TV rehab comedy The Comeback - because the show helped her through her own rehab experience.

The rocker once tried to thank Kudrow privately outside a Los Angeles store, but the actress thought Love was about to attack her. She says, "She started to cringe because she saw me, and I think she thought I was coming to beat her up. She was cowering and I was like, 'I just wanted to tell you, man, that f**king show is amazing.'"

Former Friends star Lisa Kudrow has been offered the chance to return to a surefire TV hit after failing to make waves as a struggling actress. The beloved star, who played Phoebe in the hit sitcom, has been slated to star alongside Kate Walsh in the new Grey's Anatomy spin-off.

Kudrow, whose first post-Friends show, The Comeback, was a flop, lasting only a season, will play a quirky doctor on the new TV drama, according to sources. Taye Diggs and Tim Daly are also signed to star in the new medical show.

Last night the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of the 58th Annual Emmy Awards. The Fox drama 24 was named Outstanding Drama Series for the first time after five nominations in the category, and in its first season, the NBC series The Office, a U.S. adaptation of the hit British series of the same name, was named Outstanding Comedy Series. Lisa Kudrow is developing comedy show ideas for network NBC. Kudrow starred as wacky Phoebe Buffay for 10 years until the smash hit show Friends finished in 2004. Working with the star is producer Dan Bucatinsky, the executive producer of Kudrow's first post-Friends project The Comeback, which ran for a season on HBO.

NBC comedy series vice-president Shelley McCrory says, "They are a great talent magnet, and they are very prolific. She (Kudrow) is a great performer and producer, and he is a terrific writer, so the two are a great team."

Former Friends star Lisa Kudrow has vowed to stay away from TV screens to give fans of the show more time to get over its dramatic end. The show came to an end two years ago, but Kudrow insists she is still too recognizable as zany Phoebe Buffay.

She says, "I think I will have to wait a while. I think, on network TV, I'm still Phoebe to people and it would be hard to convince them otherwise in the bright lights of a sitcom. It's fair. I'll accept being Phoebe to people for a while longer, given how much fun it was. That's totally fair."

Lisa Kudrow is still devastated at the failure of her sitcom follow-up The Comeback last year because she had never worked so hard in her life. The show starred Kudrow - who also wrote and developed the idea - as faded TV star Valerie Cherish. The series was axed after just one season when it failed to impress audiences.

'Friends' Is Not Making a Comeback

The cast of Friends are not reuniting. Rumors that the six stars of the sitcom had each signed a new $3 million dollar deal to return to the show swept the internet yesterday. However, a spokeswoman for Warner Brothers, who made the show, insists there are no plans for any new episodes. She said: "There is absolutely no truth in it."

It was reported the cast had signed up to make four one hour specials next year. 'Friends', which ran for ten years, made household names out of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Matthew Perry.
