Chips centered on two California Highway Patrol motorcycle cops whose beat was the freeway system in Los Angeles. Officer Jon Baker (Larry Wilcox) was the serious one while Frank "Ponch" Poncherello (Erik Estrada) was more off the cuff. The series aired from 1977 until 1983.
