Be careful what you wish for. If you are a devoted "Arrowhead" like me, you may have been aggravated that the handsome and gigantic Diggle (David Ramsey) doesn't get to fight crime in a kickass costume. Sadly, that wish will be granted in upcoming episodes of "Arrow." With Oliver dead, Diggle will continue h...

Swept off her feet. "Castle" upped the intrigue factor this season with the titular character's bizarre disappearance. Last week, Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate (Stana Katic) promised to revisit the idea of getting married in a month. Well, polish your dancing shoes and/or rent a tuxedo because there will be a Beckett-Castle wedding ju...

Tamala Jones Previews 'Castle' Season 7: 'This Might Be My Favorite Season'

Tamala Jones Previews 'Castle' Season 7: 'This Might Be My Favor
Fan favorite Castle left audiences with a shocking ending last season, as Richard Castle never made it to his third wedding. But now we can finally get answers: tonight's season seven premiere, "Driven," picks up right where last season's finale left off.

Earlier this week, we sat down with Castle star Tamala Jones - who plays medical examiner Dr. Lanie Parish - to quiz her about the premiere episode and what else might be in store for season seven.

What was it like for Tamala to wait for resolution to the cliffhanger? "It was torture!" she laughed. "I say this all the time, I'm a huge Ca...

10 Best TV Bromances: Are Your Favorites On The List?

10 Best TV Bromances: Are Your Favorites On The List?
Diehard, co-dependent friendships have become the stuff TV legend, not the "Pick me, choose me, love me" romances of the past. If "Orange Is The New Black" then so is the bromance. In honor bromance-based "Hawaii Five-0's" season premiere (and fast appraching 100th episode, I am counting down the 10 best TV bromances in returning shows.

Start with Number 10...

10. Walter and Jesse on AMC's "Breaking Bad"

Technically the show ended in 2013, there's no denying the bizarre bromance between the cancer-stricken chemistry teacher Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and his meth-h...

Call 911: Cop Shows Have Officially Taken A Turn For The Absurd

August 3rd, 2014 12:25pm EDT
Call 911: Cop Shows Have Officially Taken A Turn For The Absurd
Who’s solving crime on television these days?

On one hand we’ve got “Detectives Olivia Benson” (Mariska Hargitay) and “Fin Tutuola” (Ice-T) careening up, siren blaring with the red light spinning on top of the car; the ubiquitous ‘Blue Bloods’ clan; the squads from ‘Rookie Blue’, ‘Major Crimes’, ‘Hawaii Five-0’, ‘Longmire’ and ‘Chicago PD’; plus those two from ‘Motive’, not to be confused with the other two from ‘The Bridge’ or ‘The Killing’ or ‘Murder In The First’.

What they all have in common is that, at least in these procedural dramas, all the characters are “on the job.” The down si...

Fall TV 2014: A Night By Night Comparison Of What May And May Not Work

May 15th, 2014 2:40pm EDT
Fall TV 2014: A Night By Night Comparison Of What May And May No
Now that all the big networks have revealed what they’ll be showing us this fall, let’s take a look at what may or may not work.

ABC is essentially playing it safe, and keeping Sunday Night intact. American Crime will swap for Resurrection at midseason. Resurrection was a buzzy drama that started seeing a ratings decline. Not waiting till midseason is probably a smart move. You don’t want to lose any more audience. It’s not a winning strategy, but ABC just doesn’t want to be in last place.

NBC has football, another super safe move. CBS is shaking things up, banishing Amazing Race...

'Castle' Star Penny Johnson Jerald Previews Tonight's Episode

March 24th, 2014 12:10pm EDT
'Castle' Star Penny Johnson Jerald Previews Tonight's Episode
Tonight's episode of Castle throws the spotlight on Penny Johnson Jerald. In her third season playing Captain Victoria 'Iron' Gates, we also know and have loved her as level-headed Beverly on The Larry Sanders Show and villainous Sherry Palmer on 24. Penny joined BFTV on Thursday to chat about tonight's episode, which involves Gates' estranged sister, played by Salli Richardson-Whitfield, and also includes Laurie Fortier.

How did the reveals about Gates' backstory match up with what Penny had considered for her character? "I think it jumped ahead of what I thought it might be," she told us...

'Castle' Recap: Disciple (6x09)

November 22nd, 2013 2:34am EST
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. It was creepy, it was intense, and it made me excited for the extended story line of the season for the first time since Beckett left her DC job. Let's go through the plot.

Our murder victim was found strung up by clear fishing line, her feet just above the ground. That gave the illusion that she was just standing on the ground, rather than actually hanged. That's not the only thing that makes this victim creepy: she looks just like Lanie. As the team starts to look into the case, we learn that the victim has gotten plastic surgery to make her look more l...

'Castle': Get a Clue (6x06)

November 2nd, 2013 12:01am EDT
This episode was basically National Treasure, and I don't mean that in a bad way. God, that movie is full of more stupidity than I could possibly enumerate for you here, but it's still ridiculously entertaining. And that's the same thing that's going on in this episode. The main case of the week is very silly, but very fun to watch.

So, basically this woman is found dead in a Crucifixion position, and while trying to solve the murder, Beckett and Castle get caught up in this giant Freemasons treasure hunt. Castle is of course very excited, and Beckett is rolling her eyes at all the conspir...

'Castle': Time Will Tell (6x05)

October 26th, 2013 2:31am EDT
Brief summary. Brief. I can do this.

Basically, the primary murder suspect in Beckett and Castle's case says he's from the future... Beckett thinks it's silly, Castle thinks it's amazingly interesting. Things get more and more complicated when another supposed time traveler enters the picture. Apparently, some big event from this time period will cause a ripple effect into the future and kill millions of people. Blah blah blah, the usual cliched time travel story.

I liked Ryan and Esposito in this one, because they thought the whole thing was as ridiculous as Beckett did, and they didn't ...

'Castle' Review: Number One Fan (6x04)

October 17th, 2013 7:27pm EDT
I liked this one. Unlike a few episodes back when Castle was dying from exposure to poisonous gas, the threat to Castle's life here was much more immediate, and thus more believable. I want to say that this was a stronger episode than the average fare on this show. However, when looking at how the episode fits into a larger whole, I see a lot of problems. Let's take a look.

Beckett is bored without her job, since the FBI firing thing is apparently sticking, and she can't get her job at the precinct again because of a hiring freeze. Then, Captain Gates calls Castle, asking for him to come i...

'Castle' Recap: Need to Know (6x03)

October 10th, 2013 8:38pm EDT
This was a fun episode. It knew exactly what it was trying to do, and it accomplished its goal by being really light hearted all the way through, but still touching on some more serious elements as well.

Basically, the premise is that a child star has died, and the Feds are assigned the case for some reason. Beckett and McCord come down and basically block Esposito and Ryan from investigating. Castle ends up mixed up in the case as well, since he's looking for something to get him out of the apartment and away from Pi and Alexis.
Part way through the case, a CIA agent also shows up and com...

2013 Fall TV Season: What Will Be The Second Cancellation?

October 8th, 2013 6:00pm EDT
NBC- The Voice is still doing good numbers on Monday/Tuesday. The Blacklist is winning its timeslot, and was the first show (technically) to be rewarded with a back-nine pickup. Chicago Fire is also doing solid numbers on Tuesday. Revolution needs to regain some audience members if it wants a second season. With the success of The Blacklist, and Chicago Fire doing OK, Revolution is looking to be one of NBC’s weaker points right now. I can’t see it not running the full second season, but it might not get a third. Also, Ironside is definitely going to get cancelled. The premiere was so low, a...

Fall 2013 TV Report (So Far)

October 5th, 2013 2:06pm EDT
Sleepy Hollow
Here’s how the Fall TV season has been shaping up.

ABC doesn’t have a lot to celebrate about. Once Upon A Time and Revenge are both down season-to-season, yet up from last season’s finales. So, really, you could say they are even for the night. Their new drama, Betrayal, however is a disappointment. Low ratings. Does ABC have anything ready to replace Betrayal though? They’re already definitely going to cancel the much lower rated Lucky 7 (an almost certainty), can they afford to axe two shows?

CBS has a nice strong lineup of returning shows, all performing well. FOX’s shows are ...

'Castle' Recap: Dreamworld (6x02)

October 3rd, 2013 7:22pm EDT
Yeah, this episode had all the problems I anticipated. The plot surrounding Castle's impending death was... well, it lacked heart. There was no real possibility of him dying, so it felt totally unnecessary to waste an episode with that hanging over it. It might have been worthwhile had it revealed something new about any of the characters, but that wasn't really the case.

The case itself kept up its momentum from the premiere. The intrigues continue to grow as important government members get drawn into the mix. In the end, it turns out that a US operative was killed in a bombing (her code...

'Castle' Season 6: 5 Spoilers You Need To Know

September 20th, 2013 1:30pm EDT
Last season of ABC's "Castle" was a cliffhanger worthy of a series about an eccentric crime novelist and the fiercely beautiful detective muse he shadows.  Beckett (Stana Katic) secretly pursued a fancy job in Washington D.C. and an unaware Castle proposed in the closing just before credits rolled.  On Sept. 23, "Castle" will begin its sixth season on ABC at 10pm EST, so here are five spoilers you need to know...

Beckett is moving on up.  All signs are pointing to Beckett accepting the job in our nation's capital.  The evidence: reports that the 12th will get a new ambitious...

2013 Fall TV Preview: The Returning Shows On ABC

September 3rd, 2013 11:46am EDT
Modern Family
Welcome to Week 2 of the 2013 Fall TV Preview. ABC kicks things off for the third year in a row. I wrote about the critics disdain for ABC president Paul Lee last week, but they acknowledge ABC's success with its veteran shows. Revenge and Once Upon A Time enter season three this month. Grey's Anatomy is entering its tenth season. Castle's on season six. The Neighbors and Nashville got a second season. ABC struggles to develop and maintain new shows. I don't know why. How futile is network analysis with the growth of streaming services such as Hulu and Netflix? Network analysis is interesti...

ABC Postpones Bomb-Themed 'Castle' Episode

April 19th, 2013 10:32am EDT
Due to the recent bombings in Boston, Mass., producers of the ABC crime series "Castle" have postponed an upcoming bomb-themed episode.

On Monday, three people died and over 100 were injured after two bombs exploded during the Boston Marathon, prompting fears of a massive terrorist plot.

ABC executives decided to push up an episode that was scheduled to air on Monday, April 22, so as not to offend those still in mourning.

The episode, "Still," features Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) deactivating a bomb. It will air on April 29 instead.

Stanic wrote on Twitter: "ABC Pulls Monday's ...

Gail O'Grady is a 'Wife of Wall Street' on Tonight's 'Castle'

February 11th, 2013 11:20am EST
"It was a pretty easy yes," actress Gail O'Grady said of her guest-starring role in tonight's episode of Castle. "I actually did it without even seeing a script. The producers called and kind of pitched the show to me, because they were still writing it, and I thought it sounded like a great time."

The TV veteran, who most recently played Wanda Perkins on The CW's cheerleading comedy-drama Hellcats, appears on Castle as a reality TV star named Margo Cowan - one of the members of a Real Housewives-esque show called "Wives of Wall Street." When one of the other ladies is murdered, Beckett an...

Jack Coleman Teases 'Loaded' Confrontation on 'Castle'

February 4th, 2013 11:40am EST
Jack Coleman
Castle fans, you do not want to miss tonight's episode. In "Recoil," Detective Kate Beckett is going to throw down with the man ultimately responsible for her mother's murder - Senator William Bracken, played by Jack Coleman. The actor recently chatted with BFTV about what it's like to play the person behind one of Castle's biggest plotlines, and going head-to-head with his former Heroes co-star Stana Katic.

"Anytime you get a chance to play a mythological character it's always intriguing," said Coleman, who made his first appearance in the fifth-season premiere. "When they said 'You're th...

'Castle' Season 5: 5 Spoilers You Need To Know

August 14th, 2012 11:06am EDT

Thankfully, the London 2012 Olympics have provided an exhilarating and lengthy distraction during the arduous wait for our favorite fall TV shows to premiere. Autumn is just around the corner, and even more gold medal-worthy spoilers are leaping to light.

'Desperate Housewives' Goes Out On A (Relatively) High Note

May 17th, 2012 9:43am EDT
Desperate Housewives
One of the final weeks of the TV season was a mixed bag for the networks. CBS, FOX and ABC had a few things to croon about, while NBC had to settle for, well, just a couple.

‘NCIS’ continues to outperform its rivals, taking in over 18 million viewers to rank first for the week, which had to make CBS happy. FOX was in the game with both installments of ‘American Idol,’ which placed second and fourth, respectively. And ABC got good numbers from ‘Castle’ and, of course, ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ To boot, ‘Desperate Housewives’ went out on a high note on Sunday, attracting over 11 million view...

TV Ratings: CBS, FOX Dominate, PBS Impresses With 'Sherlock'

May 8th, 2012 8:36pm EDT
CBS dominated the ratings last week with 14 of the Top 25 programs. But FOX managed to tie it in the 18-49 demo with a 2.2 rating. ‘NCIS’ was tops again, while ‘American Idol’ performed quite strongly, particularly on Wednesday.

‘The Big Bang Theory’ performed well for CBS, making it the most-watched comedy and the third-most watched scripted program after both ‘NCIS’ shows. ‘Person of Interest’ and ‘The Mentalist’ also placed in the Top 10 for the network.

NBC had to settle for 20th place for ‘The Voice,’ its only program to crack the overall Top 20. ABC, meanwhile, found success with ‘M...

TV Ratings: Hoops Are Tops, 'Person Of Interest' Stays Strong

April 11th, 2012 10:08am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
Boy, this was a pretty uneventful Ratings week. The NCAA finale was tops, not surprisingly. In a sea of repeats, ‘American Idol’ fared well, while CBS’ ‘Person of Interest’ continues to climb, and was in fact the network’s top-rated scripted show last week.

On the reality side, ‘Dancing With the Stars’ continues to perform fairly well, and is obviously a boon to ABC. The network didn’t have much to cheer about, aside from ‘Castle’ riding the former show’s lead-in. And NBC has cause to be worried about ‘The Voice,’ which continues to fall. Once competitive with ‘American Idol,’ this week it...

TV Ratings: 'NCIS' Tops, 'Mad Men' Sets Record

March 29th, 2012 10:10am EDT
Mad Men
The return of fresh episodes of ‘NCIS’ vaulted CBS to the top of the ratings heap this week, but every network had something to cheer about. For the first time in who knows how long, each network had at least one show in the Top 7. You might guess that NBC’s top entry was ‘The Voice.’

FOX, of course, had two editions of ‘American Idol’ in the Top 5, and the return of ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ while down from the last installment, was the Number 2 program for the week. Its performance propelled ‘Castle’ into the Top 10. Likewise, FOX’s Kiefer Sutherland drama ‘Touch’ eked out a spot i...
