ABC Postpones Bomb-Themed 'Castle' Episode

April 19th, 2013 10:32am EDT
Castle
Due to the recent bombings in Boston, Mass., producers of the ABC crime series "Castle" have postponed an upcoming bomb-themed episode.

On Monday, three people died and over 100 were injured after two bombs exploded during the Boston Marathon, prompting fears of a massive terrorist plot.

ABC executives decided to push up an episode that was scheduled to air on Monday, April 22, so as not to offend those still in mourning.

The episode, "Still," features Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) deactivating a bomb. It will air on April 29 instead.

Stanic wrote on Twitter: "ABC Pulls Monday's ...

Gail O'Grady is a 'Wife of Wall Street' on Tonight's 'Castle'

February 11th, 2013 11:20am EST
Castle
"It was a pretty easy yes," actress Gail O'Grady said of her guest-starring role in tonight's episode of Castle. "I actually did it without even seeing a script. The producers called and kind of pitched the show to me, because they were still writing it, and I thought it sounded like a great time."

The TV veteran, who most recently played Wanda Perkins on The CW's cheerleading comedy-drama Hellcats, appears on Castle as a reality TV star named Margo Cowan - one of the members of a Real Housewives-esque show called "Wives of Wall Street." When one of the other ladies is murdered, Beckett an...

In "Recoil," Detective Kate Beckett is going to throw down with the man ultimately responsible for her mother's murder - Senator William Bracken, played by Jack Coleman. The actor recently chatted with BFTV about what it's like to play the person behind one of Castle's biggest plotlines, and going head-to-head with his former Heroes co-star Stana Katic.

"Anytime you get a chance to play a mythological character it's always intriguing," said Coleman, who made his first appearance in the fifth-season premiere. "When they said 'You're th...

Jon Huertas
Jon Huertas plays Detective Javier Esposito on ABC’s “Castle”. But many Castle fans may be surprised to learn Jon spends much of his free time creating and performing music. He's traveled the world singing in large auditoriums, small and sexy jazz clubs, even appearing in "The Wiz". It all stems from his first featured singing solo, at the ripe age of six, at his catholic school’s 2nd grade Christmas show.

Recently Jon has collaborated with Grammy nominated songwriter/producer Christian “Davis” Stalnecker and together they've produced Jon's new album "Grown and Sexy". Jon describes ...

'Desperate Housewives' Goes Out On A (Relatively) High Note

May 17th, 2012 9:43am EDT
Desperate Housewives
One of the final weeks of the TV season was a mixed bag for the networks. CBS, FOX and ABC had a few things to croon about, while NBC had to settle for, well, just a couple.

‘NCIS’ continues to outperform its rivals, taking in over 18 million viewers to rank first for the week, which had to make CBS happy. FOX was in the game with both installments of ‘American Idol,’ which placed second and fourth, respectively. And ABC got good numbers from ‘Castle’ and, of course, ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ To boot, ‘Desperate Housewives’ went out on a high note on Sunday, attracting over 11 million view...

TV Ratings: CBS, FOX Dominate, PBS Impresses With 'Sherlock'

May 8th, 2012 8:36pm EDT
Sherlock
CBS dominated the ratings last week with 14 of the Top 25 programs. But FOX managed to tie it in the 18-49 demo with a 2.2 rating. ‘NCIS’ was tops again, while ‘American Idol’ performed quite strongly, particularly on Wednesday.

‘The Big Bang Theory’ performed well for CBS, making it the most-watched comedy and the third-most watched scripted program after both ‘NCIS’ shows. ‘Person of Interest’ and ‘The Mentalist’ also placed in the Top 10 for the network.

NBC had to settle for 20th place for ‘The Voice,’ its only program to crack the overall Top 20. ABC, meanwhile, found success with ‘M...

TV Ratings: Hoops Are Tops, 'Person Of Interest' Stays Strong

April 11th, 2012 10:08am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
Boy, this was a pretty uneventful Ratings week. The NCAA finale was tops, not surprisingly. In a sea of repeats, ‘American Idol’ fared well, while CBS’ ‘Person of Interest’ continues to climb, and was in fact the network’s top-rated scripted show last week.

On the reality side, ‘Dancing With the Stars’ continues to perform fairly well, and is obviously a boon to ABC. The network didn’t have much to cheer about, aside from ‘Castle’ riding the former show’s lead-in. And NBC has cause to be worried about ‘The Voice,’ which continues to fall. Once competitive with ‘American Idol,’ this week it...

TV Ratings: 'NCIS' Tops, 'Mad Men' Sets Record

March 29th, 2012 10:10am EDT
Mad Men
The return of fresh episodes of ‘NCIS’ vaulted CBS to the top of the ratings heap this week, but every network had something to cheer about. For the first time in who knows how long, each network had at least one show in the Top 7. You might guess that NBC’s top entry was ‘The Voice.’

FOX, of course, had two editions of ‘American Idol’ in the Top 5, and the return of ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ while down from the last installment, was the Number 2 program for the week. Its performance propelled ‘Castle’ into the Top 10. Likewise, FOX’s Kiefer Sutherland drama ‘Touch’ eked out a spot i...

USA's Fairly Legal returns for its second season tonight with one big ace up its sleeve: co-star Michael Trucco.

When is a series regular a secret weapon? When he's doing fantastic work and still playing second chair. Yes, Fairly Legal belongs to the character of Kate Reed (Sarah Shahi), but there's something about her not quite ex-husband that sticks.

As played by Trucco, Justin Patrick is that hard-working, dedicated Assistant District Attorney that you'd want fighting for you in court, and he's also the voice of reason in his complicated relationship with Kate. In a conventional legal ...

Wishes Of A Television-aholic: 'Castle'

This television-aholic loves shows that construct their own unique, heightened reality with eccentric characters and a moving combination of drama and angst and comedy. This is why I have been a fan of ABC’s “Castle,” starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, since the very beginning. The cases can be hokey, clichéd and easy to solve, but "Castle" is all about the will-they-won’t-they chemistry between the two romantic leads.

Last season, Richard Castle, my favorite fictional crime novelist played to whimsical perfection by Fillion, confessed his love to his partner, Detective Kate Bec...

Who Aced The 2010-11 TV Season? (Hint: It's Not NBC)

June 4th, 2011 3:30pm EDT
The Voice
The 2010-2011 TV season is officially over. The ratings are in. If there is one surprise, it’s that last year’s top five shows were all up in viewers this year. With hefty viewer erosion in recent years, that’s nothing short of a miracle.

Most other veteran shows, however, saw a drop-off in viewers. There are some exceptions, however, such as ‘Modern Family,’ which saw very healthy ratings in its second year, particularly in the 18-49 demo.

The stats didn’t change much from last year. CBS won the season in total viewers with 11.6 million. It’s the eighth time in nine years the netwo...

It’s almost May Sweeps, and season finales will be upon us faster than the networks can cancel soaps. Let’s break it down, network by network, of what succeeded – and what flopped – this TV season.

NBC

Let’s start with the weakest network. After the ‘Jay Leno Show’ debacle last season, NBC is still scrambling to find original programming that will net decent ratings.

‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’ has proved a disappointment, as evidenced by its massive overhaul and return to floundering ratings. The comedy ‘Outsourced’ is on the bubble, and shows such as ‘Chase’ and ‘Undercovers’ bombed ...
