'Scrubs' Is Back!

January 6th, 2009 10:02am EST
Scrubs
Last winter NBC announced that they would not be picking up Scrubs for an eighth season. When a bizarre fantasy world episode concluded the season that was shortened by the writers' strike, fans were left with a bad taste in their mouths. Could this really be the end of the fun dramedy that we had grown to love?

Slowly, the rumors began to circle that the actors had been asked to come back to work to make more episodes. Die-hards held out hope, and it became a reality when ABC announced that they would be airing a new season of Scrubs in January 2009. ABC Studios has actually...

September 26th, 2008 10:20am EDT
Jerry Oconnell
Is there such a thing as a show-a-holic? A glimpse at the TV guide shows certain names keep cropping up time and time again attached to new shows. Could certain actors be addicted to starring on TV? And will they do anything to keep working whether the show is a quality one or not?

Isn't addiction classified as doing something to the point of excess, even after the point at which the person knows it's not healthy for them anymore? If the answer is yes then there are a few actors working today who show signs of needing serious career detox and rehab.

Case in point: the new TNT ser...

This fall, a handful of new shows will take their shot at finding their audience. So, what is it that makes a show successful? What makes them fail? When it comes down to it, a show will have to have good writing for people to want to keep watching it, but it is getting the viewers to watch in the first place that is the challenging task. Of course, there are many different strategies to attract viewers and stay on the air, an...

Fox 2008-09 Schedule Is Solid, Surprisingly Straightforward

May 16th, 2008 12:03pm EDT
Eliza Dushku stars in Dollhouse
Usually this is the time of year when people are left scratching their heads, futilely trying to comprehend the four or five schedules that Fox has just unveiled for the upcoming season. This year, however, the folks at Fox have left the confusion of a year-round schedule to NBC, instead choosing to go with a much more conventional (and less headache inducing) Fall/Spring plan.

Fox has been doing fairly well recently, and it is safe to say that "American Idol" is no longer the only show keeping the network afloat (although it doesn't hurt, declining ratings and all). Therefore, it is...

Andy Kindler
Where we last left off with Andy Kindler... Okay, I know three verses to "Philadelphia Freedom" and that’s all I know about Philadelphia. "Philadelphia Freedom, I love you. Yes, I do." Do you want to hear my other Philadelphia joke?

Yes.

Philadelphia? Nice cream cheese.

I’m liking it.

Alright, I just want to let people know. A lot of people are wondering, “If I invite Andy to my small po-dunk town will he be able to do jokes about my town, specifically?”

The answer is yes.

Yes, name any city in the country and I’ll do a joke about it. Any city.

Grading The TV Networks: It's Report Card Time

February 6th, 2008 2:31pm EST
Ugly Betty
The last two television seasons have had it all. We've seen everything from the birth of a broadcast network (the CW) to the most debilitating industry work stoppage in 20 years. Now it's time to take a closer look at each of the five major broadcast networks and see what they are doing right, what needs improvement, and where they stand.

Like any true report card, we won't be judging the networks on any one category alone. Although overall ratings are a factor, they are not the only factor. Also, we will be looking at the time period from Fall of 2006 (when the CW debuted) to pres...

Jerry O'Connell has a new nickname on the set of his new show Carpoolers - Stamos. O'Connell's cheeky co-workers recently decided it would be fun to name O'Connell after his new wife Rebecca Romijn's ex-husband, ER star John Stamos.

O'Connell, who wed Romijn in the summer, says, "It's the big joke on my set. Everyone on Carpoolers refers to me as Stamos."

And Romijn finds her new husband's nickname amusing too: "I think it's pretty funny, too. And you know who's going to think it's the funniest out of everyone? Stamos. That's right up his alley."
