The project reunites Duchovny with NBC Entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt, who previously worked with the actor on both The X Files and Californication.

David Duchovny
Actor David Duchovny has banned his The X Files co-star Gillian Anderson from landing a guest role on his hit TV series Californication in an effort to preserve the memory of their FBI special agent characters.

The actors, who portrayed Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for nine years on the cult sci-fi show, reunited on Saturday (12Oct13) to discuss The X Files at New York's Paley Center for Media, and during the chat, Anderson revealed she's been repeatedly snubbed by her old pal on Californication, in which Duchovny plays a troubled, womanising writer.

She quipped, "Come on, I could have been...

Hank Is A 'Disasterpiece' in Californication

January 14th, 2013 11:23am EST
c
The hit Showtime series, Californication is back for its sixth season with an amazing lineup of guest stars (like Marilyn Manson) and more comedic dark struggles for Hank Moody (played by Golden Globe winner David Duchovny), whom we have unfortunately grown to love.

The first episode begins when Hank wakes up in the hospital after his ex, Carrie, unsuccessfully tried to kill him with a deadly ‘you broke my heart, you son-of-a b&*$%’ cocktail. Sadly, she also had a taste of her own medicine and will not be waking up ever again from her booze induced ride on the crazy train. Only in his drea...

Showtime Sunday Nights Return with 'Shameless,' 'House of Lies,' 'Californication'

January 13th, 2013 9:00am EST
Shameless
Showtime is the channel to be watching on Sunday nights. After the nail-biting returns of Dexter and Homeland, the premium cabler is now bringing the laughs with new seasons of Shameless, House of Lies, and Californication, starting tonight.

All three shows have some element of people behaving badly, whether it's Frank Gallagher's lack of parenting or Hank Moody's ever-growing list of flings. That concept works better for some shows than it does others. Season six of Californication is the same debauchery with a different theme. After trying the film world in season four, this time around ...

Q&A: 'Love In The Wild' Host Darren McMullen

August 10th, 2011 3:11pm EDT
Love In The Wild
Dating is hard enough, but then to throw nature into the mix seems downright insane. That's the premise of NBC's Love In The Wild. Backstage at America's Got Talent, the show's host, Darren McMullen, talked with me recently about the scary perils of nature and his interest in reality television (including our mutual affection for one show in particular!)

We've seen dating shows before, but this is a particularly weird concept for one.

Oh, I could probably think of a weirder one, but it's good. It seems to work. We have legitimate couples going on, which is more than can be said for a lot ...

It's the end of the road for Hannah/Belle (Billie Piper, who will always be Rose Tyler from Doctor Who to me). Now in charge of things since former madam Stephanie is behind bars, Hannah/Belle has to take a look at her life and decide what she wants out of it, especially since she's also entering into a romantic relationship with her best ...

Now that Californication's Hank Moody has been convicted of statutory rape, it's time for him to face the music.

Sunday's season finale (9/8c on Showtime) finds Hank (David Duchovny) awaiting his sentencing, and the outcome floors him. But you shouldn't necessarily expect the show's next season to resemble Oz.

With Hank's secret revealed, how much Californication is left?

'Californication' Season 4 Advance Review

January 8th, 2011 7:08pm EST
Californication
My Showtime preview concludes today with a look at season four of Californication, which debuts tomorrow on the premium network along with Episodes and Shameless.

A friend of mine once told me that she thought David Duchovny was a one-trick pony. I had to agree with her; I loved him in his now-iconic role as Special Agent Fox Mulder on The X-Files, but then I saw the absolutely dreadful Evolution and couldn't believe I was watching the same actor. Even in the second X-Files feature, he seemed at times to be simply going through the motions. To me, his performance here feels like a versi...

What Can We Expect To See In Season 4 Of 'Californication'?

January 6th, 2011 10:29am EST
Californication Season 4
So, “Californication” is returning soon, and everyone’s favorite blind-in-one-eye leading man David Duchovny reprises his role as the perpetually creatively-blocked novelist Hank Moody. And I bet you real money he’s going to be having sex with people this season. Lots of sex. That he’ll feel bad about later.

Actually, that’s the entirety of “Californication.” Hank Moody has sex, feels bad about it later, then does it again. But gosh if he isn’t just so darn loveable.

I know the show is about that cycle. I know the show is supposed to be about how Hank Moody is a sex addict, and how he’s t...

Remote Control Battle: TV Both Men And Women May Enjoy Together

Remote Control Battle
A Woman's Perspective: Remember when sitcoms used to make jokes about how men and women watch television differently? The sloppy, somewhat aloof husband character would always be zooming through the channels, flicking the remote faster than his perky, pretty, younger wife could keep up. She'd then snatch the remote and pause on each channel achingly slowly, narrating not only what was occurring in the scene on screen but also what she hoped or thought would occur next.

Not only did men and women watch differently, though, what they watched was always assumed to be different. Men had the...
