A.M. Roundup: 'Wizard Of Oz' Munchkin Margaret Pellegrini Dies, 'Big Brother' Recap, Percy Jackson Saves NOLA

August 8th, 2013 10:33am EDT
Wizard Of Oz
Previously on Big Brother: Howard and Candice tried to get Amanda out of the house, but logic was too much for the fragile brains of the houseguests. Howard was evicted during Racist #1’s HoH and Racist #2 was immediately made HoH. One guess who she targeted? Jessie stood up for herself and all the viewers who were sick of Amanda. (recap)

The production of new action adventure movie Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters served as a major clean-up operation for one of New Orleans, Louisiana's most beloved amusement parks after director Thor Freudenthal chose to turn The Six Flags Jazzland attracti...

Big Brother Episode 18: Amanda Versus The Accurate Edit

August 8th, 2013 12:22am EDT
Big Brother 15
Part One: The Rat, The Alligator, and The Showmance Power Play

Previously on Big Brother: Howard and Candice tried to get Amanda out of the house, but logic was too much for the fragile brains of the houseguests. Howard was evicted during Racist #1’s HoH and Racist #2 was immediately made HoH. One guess who she targeted? Jessie stood up for herself and all the viewers who were sick of Amanda.

We flashback on GM’s ridiculous nomination speech where she uses every negative insult she knows can make it on television. (She’s the one who was fired for using the N word on the show, so we know s...

Big Brother 15 Episode 15: Riddles, Paranoia, and The Land of Dinosaurs

August 1st, 2013 12:35pm EDT
Big Brother 15
Part One: Howard Is A Riddle Wrapped In Clichés

Previously on Big Brother: Amanda only had eyes for Howard, Aaryn somehow survived death’s door, Helen got an undeserved mastermind edit, and Aaryn had the world’s worst nomination speech.

Howard thinks that Elissa was one of the people to convince Aaryn to put up Howard. As a reminder, Elissa not only refused to put up Howard a few weeks ago, she also despises Aaryn with the passion of a thousand burning suns. Howard is not very astute. Helen jumps up and down at the nominations with Aaryn like she’s a 14 year old cheerleader. Gina Marie i...

Big Brother Episode 14: Monsters, Misinformation, and Memory

July 29th, 2013 12:30pm EDT
Big Brother
Part One: Terrible Gameplay Rears Its Ugly Head

Previously on Big Brother: a viewer advisory card appeared as further proof of the worst cast in Big Brother history, Aaryn was the most hated person in the house so of course she didn’t have a single vote to evict her, Elissa told Aaryn to get a life, and then the monster won HOH.

I didn’t watch the last episode, but I’m glad this episode’s pre-credit’s bumper was Aaryn saying “I don’t understand why you don’t like me.” It’s not like she tried to ostracize Elissa from the house the first two weeks.Helen’s mastermind DR’s continue to be the ...

Big Brother Episode 12: Mudrakers, Strippers, and Rumors

July 25th, 2013 4:30pm EDT
Big Brother
Part One: A Nervous Mistake

Previously on Big Brother: The houseguests were reminded to expect the unexpected, Amanda was obsessed with Howard to an alarming degree, and Judd went the safe route by nominating Kaitlin and Aaryn.

Aaryn uses the word of the season (besides flabbergasted) “sketchy.” It’s sketchy that they have such poor command of the English language. Judd told Aaryn that she twists words in the nomination speech, but once she asks him about it, he backs out and lets her off easy. Aaryn cries. Too bad they didn’t bottle those tears. I’m sure some BB fans would use it to fend...

Big Brother Episode 9: Intimidation, Thy Name Is Amanda

July 18th, 2013 10:30am EDT
Big Brother
Tonight’s episode of Big Brother was on the boring side but it gave us two great moments: Elissa standing up for herself against Amanda and the reoccurring appearance of the bear shirt. Now on to the episode…

Part One: Shaking and Scrambling

Previously on BB: The Mean Girls lived up to their name, The Moving Company was revealed, and Helen turned out to be a major disappointment.
Kaitlin doesn’t like the “stupid sympathy hugs” after the nomination. I’m guessing Kaitlin doesn’t like a lot of things that human beings do.
Aaryn thinks she’s nominated because she’s a “straight shooter” and a ...

July 10th, 2013 4:09pm EDT
Julie Chen
Big Brother host Julie Chen has spoken out over the racist and homophobic comments a handful of this season's HouseGuests have made on the show via its live internet feed.

Chen made an appearance on The Talk Monday morning, explaining that the comments made by houseguest Aaryn Gries about Asians were the ones that really hit the hardest.

"When I first found out that Aaryn, who is a 22-year-old girl, made anti-gay, anti-black and anti-Asian comments, I have to be honest, the Asian ones hit me the most," Chen says. "I heard about her describing Asians as 'squinty-eyed' and 'go make a bowl o...

Clawson's employer, Union Pacific Railroad, has now begun the process of terminating the employment of the 31-year-old train conductor over his bigoted comments on the show.

"The values represented by Spencer Clawson's comments during the Big ...

CBS Airs Offensive Comments From 'Big Brother' Contestant Aaryn Gries

July 8th, 2013 5:59pm EDT
Aaryn Gries
Three of the HouseGuests on this season of Big Brother came under fire last week for their bigoted remarks on the show's live feed at, which lets fans see everything that goes on in the house 24 hours a day.

Producers aired parts of the live feed on the show this week, and during Sunday night's episode footage of contestant Aaryn Gries mocking Asians and African Americans, as well as throwing in a gay slur for good measure, made the final cut.

Gries (whose first name, ironically, reminds us of a word that's often used synonymously with racism) referred to gay HouseGuest Andy Herre...

July 8th, 2013 10:21am EDT
Arryn Gries
CBS series "Big Brother" has come under fire for the numerous racist comments a couple of its houseguests have made in the show's 24/7 live feed on the internet. Houseguest Arryn Gries mocked Asians, African Americans and a gay contestant on the show with some off-color language; and fellow contestants Spencer Clawsson and GinaMarie Zimmerman have also made some racist comments. Sunday night, CBS aired Aaryn's segment during the show. Wait a minute -- her name's Aa-ry-n?(story)

July 4th, 2013 9:16am EDT
Big Brother GinaMarie and Aaryn
Two contestants, aka "Houseguests" on CBS reality series "Big Brother" have come under fire for making racial comments that were aired during the show's 24/7 feed online. Aspiring model Arryn Gries and pageant coordinator GinaMarie Zimmerman had a conversation that involved numerous racist and homophobic comments. When the show ends that they rejoin the outside world they'll find that they're both out of a job. Also, neither of the two were evicted during Wednesday night's show, where David was the first person booted from the house. (story)

July 3rd, 2013 10:25pm EDT
Aaryn Gries
Texas modeling agency Zephyr Talent is dropping Big Brother season 15 contestant Aaryn Gries from her contract after the houseguest on CBS's hit show made racial and homophobic comments on camera during a recent episode.

“Aaryn, season 15 cast member of Big Brother, revealed prejudices and other beliefs that we (Zephyr Talent) do not condone,” the talent agency's Facebook page reads. “We certainly find the statements made by Aaryn on the live Internet feed to be offensive. Any views or opinions expressed in personal commentary by Aaryn, either on any live feed from the House or during the ...

Pamela Anderson Joins Britain's 'Big Brother'

September 11th, 2011 4:30pm EDT
Pamela Anderson
Actress Pamela Anderson entered Britain's Big Brother reality TV show on Friday night for a five-day stint on the program.

The new series of the show, in which competitors are 'locked' in a house together, kicked off on Friday, and 14 contestants entered the compound.

They were given a shock when the shutters into the garden were lifted - and the former Baywatch star was unveiled as their new housemate.

Anderson showered her new pals with hugs and kisses and told them, "We're gonna have so much fun. I'm here for a few days but I'm having so much fun I might stay longer."

Tara Reid Loves London, Loves Showing Off Her Stomach

September 8th, 2011 8:19am EDT
Tara Reid
We spotted Tara Reid outside her British hotel last night in a hoodie with the slogan "I Love London" on it. For some reason the actress felt like baring her stomach for photographers.

Tara was recently evicted from the U.K. version of "Big Brother," which features stars locked in a house together. Last month the actress married Zack Kehayov in Greece.

She stars in the upcoming film "American Reunion," part of the "American Pie" franchise.

Q&A: 'How To Be A Gentleman' Star Mary Lynn Rajskub

August 26th, 2011 8:00am EDT
Mary Lynn Rajskub
Mary Lynn Rajskub has gone from hilarious comedienne to a cult favorite actress. You may have spotted her making people laugh in series like The Larry Sanders Show and Mr. Show. Or you may have seen her helping save the day as computer expert Chloe O'Brian on 24. Now she has a regular role on CBS' new sitcom How To Be A Gentleman. Rajskub plays Janet, the "bossy sister" of struggling advice columnist Andrew (David Hornsby). She dropped by recently to chat about her return to comedy and her long history of making us laugh.

Summer 2011 TV Highlights

May 24th, 2011 1:00pm EDT
True Blood
As much as you should be going to the beach, catching a hot concert or spending time with friends at outdoor barbeques this summer, there is also a lot going on indoors too. We’re talking about what’s going on inside on the television. Summer television shows aren’t always about the addicting and sometimes laughable reality programs since stations like TNT and USA have stepped up their game with shows like The Closer and Burn Notice. As much as we were anticipating the return of Mad Men this summer only to be disappointed by the news that the premiere is delayed until 2012, we found a few m...

Pamela Anderson Stars In The Indian Version Of 'Big Brother'

November 18th, 2010 12:26am EST
Pamela Anderson
Pamela Anderson is in Mumbai, India starring in their version of "Big Brother" entitled "Bigg Boss 4."

No, she's not featured in the show for its entire run, she's just making a three day appearance as a houseguest. She'll make a cool $500,000 for the short stay, too.

Anderson's cameo on the show comes with a purpose though, she's using it as a platform to promote her favorite causes, like PETA and teaching housemates about water purification.

She tells, "Life is short and I wanted to visit India soon. This is my first trip to India. I wish I could visit the Taj Mahal b...

9/2 'Big Brother' Recap: The Final Four Is Determined

September 3rd, 2010 9:56am EDT
After Thursday night’s episode of Big Brother, the final four has been determined and a winner will be crowned in a few short weeks.

Along with this weeks eviction, Thursday’s episode shed some light on what goes down in the Jury House, as Kathy, Rachel, Matt, and Brendon have been residing there for the past several weeks. After the usual recap which showed how we ended up with Ragan and Hayden on the block, Host Julie Chen turned our attention to the Jury House and each evicted houseguests arrival. Once all four were accounted for, Matt revealed to his fellow roommates that he lied about...

8/26 'Big Brother' Recap: Two Eliminated In Chaotic Episode

August 27th, 2010 9:20am EDT
Thursday night marked the most intense episode of the Big Brother season, as CBS crammed in an eviction, Head of Household competition, Veto competition, and yet another eviction into its one hour timeslot. With the “master manipulator” Matt on the block against his fellow Brigade member Enzo, the show started off with a brief recap on the week’s previous events. In his search to figure out why Ragan was giving him the silent treatment, it finally dawned upon Matt that Britney must have told Regan what he was up to. In a last effort to stay alive in the game, Matt attempted to turn the hous...

'Big Brother' Season 12, Episode 19: Twists, Eviction, And More Sabotage

August 20th, 2010 10:33am EDT
Big Brother
Thursday night’s edition of Big Brother provided the twists that made the show famous in the first place.

The magical Diamond Power of Veto, which contestant Matt won when he selected to open Pandora’s Box, couldn’t have come at a more opportune time, as Brendon placed Matt on the block during Wednesday’s episode in an effort to defend the honor of his evicted love Rachel. No one in the Big Brother compound knew that Matt held the Diamond Power of Veto, so many houseguests were torn between voting for Matt or for his fellow alliance member Lane.

The episode began with Matt feeling out his...

Top TV, July 12-16: 'Real Housewives Of New Jersey,' ‘The Hills’ & More

July 12th, 2010 2:36pm EDT
Just when I was re-gaining my addiction to the over-the-top drama of “The Hills,” I realized it was time to say goodbye. That’s right, “The Hills” stars are finally ready to move on with their lives; although, it is doubtful any of them will move too far out of the spotlight.

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” – Monday, BRAVO

lovers have seen a lot of screwed up stuff, much of it coming from the Jersey women, but I can’t help but get excited when thinking about Monday’s episode. A fight; two grown women chasing after one another; possible revenge from Jaqueline’s daughter; cop cars; and ...

'Big Brother 12' Rips Off 'The Mole' - Premiere Recap

July 9th, 2010 10:01am EDT
Big Brother 12
The CBS reality mainstay "Big Brother" entered its twelfth season Thursday night. And this year, the customary "twist" is similar to the premise of the fallen reality show, "The Mole."

Of the thirteen house guests, one is a "saboteur," acting as the producer's antagonist to prevent the other contestants from winning challenges, or to generally "wreak havoc," according to host Julie Chen. The contestants weren't informed of this until after they moved into the "Big Brother" house.

Chen says the saboteur may work against an individual or the entire group. He or she is eligible to reign a...

What To Watch: Summer 2010 TV

May 14th, 2010 10:44am EDT
Summer TV 2010
There used to be a time when summer television was all reruns and special events, like baseball games and the occasional Olympics. Then it became a reality television zone, giving life to such mind-numbingness as CBS’ Big Brother, a show about thirteen insipid individuals put in a house and made to play inane games and “back door” each other for a chance at a half a million dollars. More and more, though, networks are scheduling new shows for the summer block that are quirkier, non-formulaic, and even character driven. What was once a wasteland is fast becoming a haven for smaller, niche sh...

Anna David On 'Reality Matters'

April 5th, 2010 1:58pm EDT
Anna David Reality Matters
What do you get when you give a dozen writers who are hooked on reality television a pen and paper? Reality Matters. The book, edited by Anna David, is a brilliant compilation of essays by various writers coming clean about the reality shows they can’t stop watching. Why do we love this genre? Why are we glued to the TV every week as if our lives would end if we didn’t see who The Bachelor picked as his bride-to-be, or which wannabe star got the boot on American Idol? The book explores such shows like The Real Housewives of New York City, The Hills, Married by America, Project Runway, The O...

Weekly Reality TV Roundup

September 14th, 2009 9:50am EDT
Let's take a look at some highlights of what reality TV had to offer us last week as we move into a new week of reality antics.

The Rachel Zoe Project (Mondays Bravo 9PM CST).

Rachel Zoe has become one of my favorite reality stars. She is very cool, smart, funny and she likes to have a good time. This week Rachel was in charge of Anne Hathaway at the Oscars but she left her assistant Brad in charge. Although he struggled at last season's Oscars Brad did just fine this week and he was humbled at the opportunity Rachel gave him.

In between a chaotic Oscar week and drama with assis...

Reality Roundup: 'Jon & Kate,' 'Hell's Kitchen' & More

September 8th, 2009 9:27am EDT
Anne Hathaway
Although Reality TV is supposed to be real it is actually intended to help people escape reality and laugh at other people's misadventures. The trashier the concept the better the show, except some of those VH1 shows are obnoxious.

I am more about shows like "The Real World," "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance," or my new favorite show "Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock Hotel."

If you missed any of your favorite reality shows last week, I am here to give a short synopsis of what went down:

Jon & Kate Plus 8 (Monday 8 p.m. CST TLC)

Everyone's favorite family, the Gosselins, had some fun a...
