Patrick Swayze's former co-stars Jennifer Grey, Whoopi Goldberg and Rob Lowe have paid tribute to the movie star, who died on Monday following a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

The actor, 57, passed away surrounded by his family in Los Angeles. He was diagnosed with the aggressive disease in 2007, and announced his plight in early 2008, remaining defiant throughout by undergoing chemotherapy treatments while still shooting his TV show The Beast. Patrick Swayze's 'Beast' Canceled

A&E drama "The Beast" will not return for a second season, according to Daily Variety.

The show had a rough start because Patrick Swazye was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The actor was unable to promote the series during a Television Critics Association panel in January after he was hospitalized for pneumonia.

Ailing actor Patrick Swayze has prompted fears he's close to the end of his cancer battle, after reportedly turning down life-saving lung surgery.

The Dirty Dancing star was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year and has undergone regular bouts of grueling chemotherapy treatment since, in a bid to beat the deadly disease.

24's female U.S. president Cherry Jones is recovering in the hospital after undergoing surgery to have her gall bladder removed. The 52-year-old actress, who plays President Alison Taylor in the current season of the hit drama, was forced to skip a press conference for the show on Tuesday, when her illness was announced.

24 producer Howard Gordon revealed Jones has undergone a Cholecystectomy, adding, "But she's OK."

Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze has defied critics by smoking while battling pancreatic cancer.

Swayze, 55, was diagnosed with the condition in April, prompting claims he had just months to live. But the star responded well to treatment at California's Stanford University Medical Center, and has since returned to work.

However, new photographs of Swayze filming new TV series The Beast show him smoking cigarettes in between breaks.

Health organizations advise cancer sufferers to give up smoking.
