Emily Maynard Is The New 'Bachelorette'!

January 18th, 2012 4:00pm EST
Emily Maynard
Last summer, Emily Maynard tweeted that she didn't "want to be the Bachelorette" on the then upcoming season of ABC's hit series of the same name - but that was just after appearing on the 15th season of The Bachelor, which culminated with an engagement to star Brad Womack. The couple went through a very rocky engagement and subsequent breakup just six months after filming ended (Emily accepted Brad's proposal in November 2010, but the public didn't find out until the show's season finale the following March), and Emily wasn't interested in putting herself through the whole process again.

Group Date
After a slow start, the second episode of The Bachelor delivers: there are catfights and competition, a change of scenery, two one-on-one dates, plenty of steamy-hot tub moments, one very awkward group date, and of course, rivers of tears from Jenna the Blogger. In other words: we get what we tuned in for!

The girls are plucked from the LA and whisked to Sonoma, California, Ben’s hometown, and more commonly known as wine country. After the requisite ‘ooh’s’ and ‘aah’s’ over their new digs, Ben announces he has a date card – for Kacie, the administrative assistant from Tennessee.

"These women looked at him like a prize," says host Chris Harrison. "Like this celebrity." One of the contestants arrived on horseback another sent her 72-year-old grandmother hobbling over on crutches to profess her ...

Not to worry - this season brings out a hopeful new Ben, one who emphasized his intentions to find real love, a willingness to commi...

HU Column: It Smells Like Roses?

April 18th, 2011 8:58pm EDT
Hollywood is a great place and the parties that I’ve had the chance to attend are sometimes the biggest events on the calendar every year. I’ve done a lot of parties in my years on the entertainment beat. If it’s movies, television or video games, events they all know how to throw some of the biggest parties.

I will always say that as long as the event has food and liquor, reporters will sign up to cover the party or the event without a problem! To tell you the truth I’ve done the same and sometimes that’s almost the only reason it’s worth attending some events. Especially...

Hollywood Unwrapped: Reality Rocks Expo

April 15th, 2011 9:13am EDT
Last weekend, the world of reality television came together to celebrate everything that is reality television. I must say that we just lost a few more brain cells because of the launch of Reality Rocks Expo. It just shows us that enough people like reality television enough that they would agree to pay $35 dollars to go see their favorite reality performer. I refuse to call them stars because in full reality, they have not done anything to get the star treatment that they are.

It’s not like sleeping with as many women or men in a big house rigged with lots of cameras is going to m...

'Bachelor' Bachelorettes Let Loose On Season Villain Michelle Money – Reality TV Highlights, March 6-12, 2011

March 12th, 2011 3:09pm EST
Michelle Money,
“Bachelor” fans wait all season for the truth to spill out during each season’s Women Tell All special, and this season’s special was no exception; although, the truth that came out may not have been the truth viewers were expecting.

Yes, the women came down hard on Michelle Money for all the cruel things she said during the season, but it wasn’t really the things she said that bothered them; what bothered the women was that the Michelle that got to know in the house was NOTHING like the woman they saw in episodes. They felt confused by her two personalities and were beyond hurt that she w...

'Bachelor' Recap: Michelle's Meltdown (And The Women Tell All)

March 8th, 2011 11:20am EST
The Bachelor
Let’s be honest. After a pretty awesome tease for the requisite ‘Women Tell All’ episode of “The Bachelor,” the last thing we wanted to do was listen to Brad rehash his journey from most hated man in America to whatever he is today. Nonetheless, Brad is what we got. He likes getting slapped across the face, fangs, “Fangs,” and a good game player. He dislikes embalmers. He feels better about seeing the women on this tell-all than he did the last time. The concept of the recycled bachelor will always be absurd.

There are gross parties with Bachelor/Bachelorette alums advertising a second se...

'Bachelor' Recap: Wife Material

March 1st, 2011 1:08pm EST
Last week’s hometown visits helped “The Bachelor” eliminate professional embalmer and future head of the funeral home, Shawntel N. Did anyone ever doubt that Brad would follow in the footsteps of previous “Bachelor (ette) s” (Jason Meznick and Ali Fedotowsky) who quickly ended their relationship with a contestant whose hometown visit included a brush with death (pet cemetery and taxidermy)? Cool as Shawntel was, she wasn’t making it out of the subsequent rose ceremony alive.

This week was a bit trickier to determine. We’ve seen Brad have his ups and downs with all three potential brides-t...

Brad has only six ladies left to reject before going home and asking #1 ‘Bachelor’ Blocker, Laurel to marry him again. 'The Bachelor' Recap: Waking Up In Vegas

February 1st, 2011 1:22pm EST
The Bachelor
Last week, ABC's promo department sparked controversy on 'Bachelor' message boards and drew ire from outraged commentators who were appalled to see Emily on a date at the race track. After all, the sweet single mom had lost her race-car driving fiance in a plane crash less than a week before finding out she was pregnant with his child, and this date seemed specifically designed to exploit her grief. Is "The Bachelor" really that tasteless and insensitive? Um... this isn't exactly a revelation, is it?

Before we get to Emily's inevitable discomfort, let's rewind to the beginning of the episo...
