In an extension of the world last seen in "Life on Mars," a police psychologist from 2008 wakes up to find herself in 1981 after being shot and left for dead by drug dealers. There she encounters and begins working for Detective Chief Inspector Gene Hunt. While solving crimes, they regularly butt heads, since his archaic ideas about women come into continuous conflict with her intelligence and confidence.
