People Who Are Awesome: "Archer" & "Bob's Burgers" Star H. Jon Benjamin

April 30th, 2011 5:08pm EDT
Archer
I feel confident in saying that H. Jon Benjamin is the king of voice-over actors.

At this present moment, he's the star of not one but two animated series: the funniest comedy on TV, FX's Archer, and quirky freshman entry Bob's Burgers on sister network FOX. This summer, Comedy Central has given him a third series - the sketch comedy show simply titled Jon Benjamin Has A Van. As if that's not enough, he's still Carl the convenience store clerk on Family Guy, too. If you're into animated comedy, chances are you hear Benjamin (pictured here between Archer co-star Aisha Tyler and creator Ad...

Sarah's Cinema Musings: Creative Film Marketing

July 28th, 2009 9:48am EDT
District 9
Film studios have a long history of using alternative, memorable and sometimes guerrilla marketing to promote their films. One of the most famous examples is Alfred Hitchcock's now iconic film, Psycho. The Blair Witch Project also made waves, and Cloverfield's viral campaign took marketing to a new level, paving the way for more questionable advertising. The bomb scare generated from Aqua Teen Hunger Force and The Dark Knight campaigns made filmgoers wonder where the line is in marketing. Is there a line? Should there be one limiting actions?

Check out two new campaigns for Joss Whe...

'Arrested Development' Cast: Where Are They Now?

March 7th, 2009 11:35am EST
Arrested Development
The family that chicken dances together, stays together. With the February 24 announcement that Michael Cera - the lone holdout - had finally signed on for the long-rumored Arrested Development movie, message boards went bonkers for Bluth bananas.

Cera is easily the most successful and visible post-Bluth. With SuperBad, Juno, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Sundance darling Paper Heart, this kid has perfected the tentatively awkward comedic timing that made you root for the love story of George Michael and his cousin Maeby.

Where have the Bluths been since we last laughed a...

Top Five Shows On Adult Swim

June 17th, 2008 9:27am EDT
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
A talking crime fighting ass, some fox reruns, and 15-minute shorts that are tailor made for the web and/or stoned people? You don't have to be a stop action animator, a 13 year old, or a stoner to love the funniest channel on television. For years Cartoon Network's adult swim has broken the mold on what is funny and pushed the limits of what is allowed. They are defining for a whole demographic what comedy is: as they said about Futurama (which they recently lost to Comedy Central), you wouldn't have even been watching it if they hadn't told you it was funny.

It's not like Adult Swim...

Shawn Pyfrom is amazingly astute and mature for a man of his age. At only 21, he already has some fine ideas and ideals. Starpulse talked to him recently about his past work, his current role as the gay Andrew Van De Camp in "Desperate Housewives," his upcoming movie, and more.

We heard that you just turned 21 in August. Happy Birthday!

Thank you. It's very exciting to be 21.

Why?

I would be lying if I said that I hadn't had a few drinks before then, but every time you go to a place that features alcohol, like a bar, club, or restaurant, it's nice to be able to get a dri...
