Virginia Tech: Anatomy of a Rampage
Katie Couric hosts a special "48 Hours" focusing on the Virginia Tech Massacre. Bob Orr looks at how investigators pieced together to determine who the killer was and looks and how they are piecing together information about him to determine what caused him to gun down the school. Erin Moriarty interviews the owner of the gun shop where Cho Seung-Hui purchased the gun. Peter Van Sant puts together the time line of the events and Katie Couric covers the the special memorial service at Virginia Tech.
Nightmare in Napa
Leslie Mazzara and Adriane Insogna were roommates living together with a third friend, Lauren in Napa, California. On Halloween night 2004, an intruder fatally stabbed Mazzara and Insogna. Lauren heard the intruder and fled, calling the police. Investigators found cigarettes outside the house and blood on the blinds where the intruder entered. The police got DNA samples from over 200 men acquainted with Leslie and Adriane, but could not find the killer. Then when they matched the blood and saliva on the cigarette, the police went public with the knowledge that the killer smoked the cigarettes in hopes of scaring the killer out of hiding. It worked. They found they killer, the husband of Adriane's best friend, Lily when he sent a suicide note to his parents. They caught him before he killed himself and convinced him to go to the police.
Murder on the Cape
When Christa Worthington is found murdered in her home the entire male population of Cape Cod becomes suspects. Susan Spencer investigates the events leading up to Christa's death. She had been having an affair with a married man, Tony Jackett and had his baby. Christopher McCowen, Christa's trash man becomes the number one suspect. McCowen is convicted, and Jackett tries to get custody of the child, Ava.
Tracey Humphrey manipulates his wife Ashley into murdering Sandee Rozzo, a former model and body builder.
Beyond the Boardwalk
Harold Dow investigates the deaths of four women found alone a drainage ditch in Atlantic City. Dow looks at the suspect the police have come up with and the way the families are dealing with the deaths.
Searching For Secrets
Erin Moriarty reports on the disappearance of Taylor Behl. Police discovered that Ben Fawley was one of the last people to see Taylor before she disappeared and he became a suspect almost immediately. His story had holes in it, he was significantly older and interested in Taylor. As the investigation continued the police discover the sexual relationship Ben had with Taylor. Ben Fawley made a deal with the prosecution and got the second degree murder and child pornography charges dropped.
The Ghost of David Coffin
Megan Lee arrived in her boyfriend's neighborhood in time to see his house burn down. Firemen told Megan that they had found his body inside, but it appeared he was already dead before the fire. Megan's estranged husband was also attacked on the same day. The police arrest Megan's estranged husband, Scott Davis and a jury convicts him.
Murder in the Fast Lane
Speed racer Mickey Thompson and his wife were leaving their home when they were killed by two hooded assailants. Bill Lagattuta looks into the investigation and conviction of Michael Goodwin.
The Puppet Master
Heather Grossman and her husband were shot in a drive-by shooting in 1997. Police identified the shooter, but learned that he had been paid to pull the trigger. Ron Samuels, Heather's ex-husband was arrested and convicted of planning the attack and paying the shooter. He is appealing the sentence. Meanwhile, Heather is now a quadriplegic.
To Catch a Killer
Four people are murdered in their factory and the third business partner is the prime suspect. The suspect fled the country, but was apprehended and brought back to the US. He stood trial and was convicted for the four murders.
Murder on Lockhart Road
Richard Schlesinger reports on the murder of state trooper David Camm's wife, daughter and son. David became a suspect early on, but police struggled with the evidence at the murder scene. David Camm was convicted and after serving 5 years, DNA evidence on Kim's sweatshirt pointed the finger at another suspect, Charles Darnell Boney. Boney was convicted for the murder of Kim. And then David Camm had to stand trial for murder again, this time facing conspiracy charges as well. The conspiracy charges were dismissed, but he was again convicted of murder. Both men are serving sentences in separate facilities.
Susan Spencer investigates the murder of Retha Stratton who was killed by Wesley Wayne Miller, a young man the town would never have expected. Susan looks at how Miller targeted cheerleaders at Castleberry High, raping them and then escalating to murder. Miller served his term and has been released.
Love and Lies
Peter Van Sant investigates the murder of Jennifer Corbin. She was found by her 7 year old son. The police quickly turned their investigation to her husband Bart. The couple had been arguing frequently and the police uncovered information revealing Jennifer had been having an Internet affair. As the investigation continues, the police link it with a what they believed was a suicide 14 years prior.
The Biggest Gamble
Erin Moriarty reports on the disappearance of 27-year old Christie Wilson. Christie disappeared after leaving a California casino with an unidentified man. Police tracked down the man, Mario, but he claims Christie left to go back and get her cell phone. The police also looked into Christie's abusive boyfriend Danny as a suspect. The prosecutor's settled on Mario as the guilty party and prosecuted him using evidence that proved Christie was actually in his car even though he denied it. When he was convicted, Christie's family and friends hoped he would reveal her location, but volunteers are still searching for her body.
Jeffrey MacDonald: Time for Truth
Jeffrey MacDonald's family was murdered in 1970 and Jeffrey was convicted and is serving time. He still claims he's innocent and now has a new wife who also believes in his innocence. MacDonald is still waiting for new evidence to prove his innocence.
Caught in the Crossfire
Charla Mack and the judge who gave her custody of the children and ordered her ex-husband to pay child support are murdered. Troy Roberts investigates the murders. Charla's husband, Darren is behind bars for the murder and the grandparents are battling for custody of the couple's daughter.
Janet March disappeared nearly 9 years ago, and her husband, Perry was the prime suspect for her disappearance. Bill Lagattuta reports on the events leading up to her disappearance and the conviction of Arthur and Perry March.
Death of a Dream
An aspiring Broadway dancer, Catherine Woods is murdered after she moves to New York from the Midwest. Catherine continued living with her boyfriend, David after they broke up and she began dating another man. The boyfriends find out about each other. One night, David comes home to find Catherine dead. Paul and David became the main suspects of the police. Paul was convicted and is awaiting an appeal.
Scientology: A Question of Faith
Paranoid schizophrenic Jeremy Perkins murdered his mother, Elli Perkins. Peter Van Sant investigates: Could this death have been prevented if Jeremy's parents belief in Scientology hadn't kept them from getting him treatment for his psychological disorder?
Memory of Murder
Peter Van Sant looks at the murder of Peter Porco and the attempted murder of his wife Joan Porco. Investigators claim that when they arrived on the scene, Joan identified her son Christopher as the killer. Christopher was convicted and is awaiting sentencing but Joan denies ever implicating him.
Troy Roberts reports on the double murder of Sabrina Gonsalves and her boyfriend, John Riggins. Twenty-four years after the murders, new DNA evidence implicated a convicted rapist, Richard Hirschfield. Richard is on trial now.
Blood and Money
Andrew Kissel, a successful man hoping to make his mark in real estate in Greenwich was murdered; the only murder on the books for the rich community of Greenwich for the year. Ironically, his brother Robert was also murdered shortly before Andrew. Robert's wife Nancy was convicted for her husband's murder in Hong Kong and is appealing the charge.
Murder on His Mind
Stephen Stanko was convicted for murdering his girlfriend and raping her daughter. Stanko's lawyer claims that he couldn't control himself due to a lack of impulse control in his brain. During the trial the lawyer presented PET scans to prove insanity, but the jury rejected the theory. Stanko is currently facing the death penalty, but must also stand trial for the murder of Henry Turner for which he faces another death sentence.
Bill Lagattuta reports on serial killer Bill Bradford who found his victims at open modeling shoots in California. An interview with "CSI: Miami" star Eva La Rue who met Bradford at one of those functions.
Belinda Trahan breaks open the search for millionaire Jim Sullivan, who was wanted for murdering his wife Lita Sullivan.

Power, Passion and Poison
Republican politician, Kathy Augustine is found unconscious in bed by her fourth husband, Chaz Higgs. Initially, it was believed to be a heart attack that killed her, but as the police began to investigate they discovered that she was poisoned. After her death, Higgs tried to commit suicide, but police turned their investigation to focus on him. As the investigation continued speculation developed that Kathy and Higgs might have killed Kathy's third husband. Police could not find any evidence that he was poisoned. Chaz Higgs was convicted and is serving his 20 year sentence, but he has appealed his conviction.
Murder Comes Knocking
Maureen Maher reports on the murder of Jarrod Davidson who was gunned down at his home. He was going through a custody battle with his ex-wife and his in-laws were convicted of his murder.
Aspiring actress Ashley Barnett dies while on a cruise trip with her boyfriend who was attempting to detox. The case is still open and authorities are trying to determine if Ashley's death was accidental or if someone tricked her into taking the methadone that killed her.
Ethics and friendship come into conflict when an informant discovers their best friend has gotten away with murder.
Musician and country song writer, Randy Hardison is murdered in Nashville. Peter Van Sant takes a look at the events leading up to his death and into the life of the suspects, Ronnie and Catina Skipper.
Secrets in the Sand
Harold Dow reports on the murder of April Barber. April was murdered on the beach while walking with her husband, Justin. Justin claimed that an unidentified assailant attacked them and he was shot four times and fell unconscious. When he woke up he found April shot and floating in the water. As the police investigated the case they discovered that although Justin was shot, none of his wounds were life threatening and his story about what happened did not add up. He became their main suspect and they eventually charged him with murder. He was convicted and was sentenced to life without parole. His family has hired a private investigator to re-investigate the murder and prove Justin's innocence.
