You know the feeling. Everyone at the office talks about how great (insert TV show here) was, and you don't watch it. By the time you figure out how good the show is, it's too late to catch up.

Well, there's still time to watch some of last season's popular shows on DVD, Netflix, on demand or online, particularly if they're only half-hour comedies or 10-episode seasons.

TV Report Card: Grading 10 Season Finales

May 25th, 2012 12:07pm EDT
Revenge Cast
Season finales are essentially the Hollywood version of final exams. They have to shock and awe and entice viewers into returning after four arduous months of dead air. From births and deaths to break-ups and OMG-worthy shockers, I’m grading 10 season finales. The SPOILER ALERT is implied.

Reckoning, Revenge’s thrilling season ender saw Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) not only confront her father’s killer in a satisfying and strangely sweet final fight, but surrender to her feelings for ruggedly handsome bartender, Jack. It wouldn’t be “Revenge” without infuriating twists and double-c...

TV Ratings: Grammys On Top

February 14th, 2012 9:22pm EST
54th Annual GRAMMY Awards
The Grammy Awards attracted a stunning 39.9 million viewers on Sunday, the second-biggest tally in the award show’s history. A number of factors likely contributed to this, not the least of which is Whitney Houston’s death over the weekend. Jennifer Hudson’s soul-stirring rendition of “I Will Always Love You” was a highlight. But that’s no discredit to the red-hot Adele, who took home six awards and gave a show-stopping performance of her own.

Nothing came close to the Grammys’ ratings territory, but ‘American Idol’ held fairly steady from last week, capturing the third and fourth slots of...

A flood nightmare put actress Kat Dennings on the path to Hollywood after her art school dreams were destroyed by a leaking water pipe.

The Thor star was considering becoming a professional artist when the incident left her reconsidering her options.

She tells Bust magazine, "I knit, I paint, I draw, I was gonna go to art school for classical illustration. I was getting a portfolio together. Every piece of art I'd ever made was on the floor where I was living. I go away for a while, come back, and a pipe had burst or something. It was flooded. Fall TV: The So-So, The Bad And The Ugly

October 28th, 2011 11:00am EDT
The X Factor
Thanksgiving is a few short weeks away, and before you slice into those turkeys, let’s take a look back at the new TV shows that are thriving and those that don’t have a Thanksgiving prayer. We’ll break it down by category.

Modest Hits

(We would have had a full-on “Hits” category, but there are certainly no runaways so far.) FOX’s ‘New Girl’ can be deemed a first-season success. The Zooey Deschanel comedy was the first fall series to earn a full season pickup, and for good reason: Its ratings are better than lead-in ‘Glee’ and it’s frequently tops on Tuesdays in 18-49. To date it’s ave...

Fall is one of my favorite times of year, and it’s not because of everything from, lattes to cakes, is pumpkin-flavored and stores are stuffed with caramel apples. NEW SHOWS

“2 Broke Girls” CBS Mondays 8:30 P.M. EST

“2 Broke Girls” is a snappy, odd couple sitcom about Max (“Thor’s” Kat Dennings), an uber-sarcastic and cynical waitress who takes in Caroline (Bet...

Whitney Cummings
Stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings is getting her own show on NBC this fall. Like the great stand-up comedian sitcoms Seinfeld and Roseanne, it is simply named Whitney.

Cummings plays Whitney, a woman in a long term relationship with Alex (Chris D’Elia) and no plans on marriage.

If you live in a big city, you probably see lots billboards stating some of Cummings’ comedic observations about relationships. Over the summer, she met with the Television Critics Association to explain her views on humor and sitcoms. The pilot episode has her try to spice up their sex life by playing a slutty nu...
