'24' Reboot Has A New Lead Actor

1/26/2016 9:07am EST
'Straight Outta Compton' Star Corey Hawkins To Play Lead In '24'
Actor Corey Hawkins, most known for playing Dr. Dre in the film "Straight Outta Compton," has landed the lead in FOX's "24" spin-off.

Kiefer Sutherland played the original counter-terrorism expert Jack Bauer from 2001 to 2010. He also appeared in 2014's event series "24: Live Another Day." He made it clear that he was not interested in reprising the role.

The reboot will focus on military hero Eric Carter, who is instrumental in preventing one of the largest-scale terror attacks on U.S. soil. FOX described his character as "strong and smart" with a rough upbringing.

The series, with the ...

FOX Confirms 'Prison Break' & '24' Are Coming Back

1/16/2016 8:34am EST
TCA Buzz: FOX Moving Forward With 'Prison Break' And '24'
It's official: FOX is moving forward with its plans to resurrect more cancelled TV shows, formally ordering a new Prison Break "event series" and a pilot for a new 24 that won't star Kiefer Sutherland. The network made both announcements Friday at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller (pictured above) will reprise their roles as Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield in the new Prison Break, so fans can start theorizing as to how Michael apparently didn't die at the end of post-series TV-movie The Final Break.

No other cast members are confirmed...

'VANish' Star Tony 'Candyman' Todd Gives Insight On His Amazing Career!

2/24/2015 12:20pm EST
Sometimes the hardest job for an actor immediately associated with a single standout character is to move past such a notorious notable and keep working. Fortunately for character actor Tony Todd, who is of course most recognized for his arresting work as former slave Daniel Robitaille turned hook wielding legend "Candyman," it’s truly been a success story. Having done some seriously stellar work both before (see "Platoon," "Lean On Me" and the Tom Savini version of "Night of the Living Dead" to name a few) and after ("The Crow," "The Rock" and of course the "Final Destination" films!) th...

6 Great Canceled TV Shows That Came Back From the Grave
Ted Sarandos, chief content officer over at Netflix was quoted last month as saying that another season of Arrested Development on the streaming service was a question of "when" at this point. That's not surprising considering Arrested Development was essentially the first major show to film exclusively for the network after the company opted to bring it back from the dead after its three year network TV run came to an end.

While the Netflix angle is what made AD's rise from the grave so notable, it's not the first show to get re-greenlit after getting canceled. Here are six other great TV...

'24' Co-Stars Defend Kiefer Sutherland Following Freddie Prinze, Jr. Attack

7/30/2014 9:21am EDT
'24' Co-Stars Defend Kiefer Sutherland Following Freddie Prinze,
Even though Freddie Prinze, Jr., didn't have a pleasant experience working with Kiefer Sutherland on "24," other co-stars apparently did.

Earlier this week, Prinze, Jr., revealed to ABC News that he almost quit acting after working with Sutherland on the hit FOX series. He slammed the lead actor's professionalism and claimed he was forced to remove his shoes in scenes with Sutherland so he didn't tower over him.

On Monday, Sara Gilbert and Aisha Tyler defended Sutherland on their daytime talk show "The View," and fellow "24" star Louis Lombardi has also come forward to lend his support.

9 TV Shows We Were Instantly Hooked On

9 TV Shows We Were Instantly Hooked On
There are a lot of great television shows, but there aren't many that are immediately addictive. Most shows take a few episodes before they find their characters or their most interesting story. Every once in a while, though, there's that show which grabs you right away - and that's what we're celebrating this week.

Here's our short list of nine shows that turned us into fans before the end credits rolled on their first installment. See if you recognize any of them, and leave your own picks at the end of the article.

24: We were sold on 24 before we ever saw the pilot. Created by Joel Sur...

'24: Live Another Day' Finale Recap And Review: '10:00 PM - 11:00 AM' - Two Deaths And A Cliffhanger

7/15/2014 8:29am EDT
'24: Live Another Day' Finale Recap And Review: '10:00 PM - 11:0
Here we are: the 24: Live Another Day finale. The conclusion to the event series we waited months for and have bitten our nails over for weeks. Thirteen hours of story time condensed into forty-five minutes of air time. The final end to the 24 saga, or is it? This show goes out the way it came in: a mixed bag of great things and not-so-great ones, not quite reaching its former glory but still damned entertaining.

Picking up exactly where we left off, Audrey realizes that her friend isn't dead, just bleeding to death. When she tries to move to help her, the sniper does the obvious thing an...

'24: Live Another Day': Tzi Ma On Playing Jack Bauer's Worst Enemy

7/14/2014 2:05pm EDT
Since he first appeared in season four of 24, Cheng Zhi has been that character fans have loved to hate. And now that Cheng has reappeared as the big bad in 24: Live Another Day, we're just one episode away from seeing if Jack can finally beat him. But the man who plays Cheng, veteran actor Tzi Ma, is much more likeable than his on-screen persona. Actually, let's not beat around the bush - he's awesome. We connected with Tzi before tonight's finale to ask him about his 24 experience and the surprising role he's playing next.

"He's actually a very different guy now," Tzi said of Cheng, the ...

Philip Winchester And 23 More Awesome '24' Guest Stars

7/14/2014 12:04pm EDT
One of the most awesome things about 24: Live Another Day is Philip Winchester.

For the last two episodes, the Strike Back star has been serving one of President James Heller's military advisors, and we're loving it. For one, as anyone who's seen the Cinemax show knows, Winchester is one of the most criminally underrated actors out there at the moment. He makes the entire political side of the story cooler just by being there to argue about threat levels and nuclear superiority, and he's one of the rare actors who can make all that jargon actually interesting to hear.

Secondly, his appear...

'24: Live Another Day' Recap And Review: '9:00 PM - 10:00 PM' - One To Go

7/8/2014 9:33am EDT
'24: Live Another Day' Recap And Review: '9:00 PM - 10:00 PM' -
When we left 24: Live Another Day, Jack Bauer's worst enemy was trying to start the next international war. In this next-to-last episode, we discover that he's even ticked off at his own country now, that you can't keep a good actor off camera, and that Audrey and Mark's marriage is probably doomed. Or at least, Mark is doomed. And no one much cares.

Hey, this week we actually get to see Philip Winchester and not just hear him. Someone please give this man a gun and let him go save some lives. He's definitely needed, because there's a Chinese carrier sinking, and Jack and Kate are still en...

'24: Live Another Day' Recap And Review: '8:00 PM - 9:00 PM' - Welcome Back, China

7/1/2014 8:25am EDT
'24: Live Another Day' Recap And Review: '8:00 PM - 9:00 PM' - W
With only three episodes to go - and one massive time jump ahead in the series finale - it's time (no pun intended) to start wrapping things up on 24: Live Another Day. The writers accomplish this by reaching back into their toy box by bringing back another old adversary, and setting up a new storyline that might be hard to definitively close by season's end.

Jack reveals to a shocked Kate that her boss is one of the bad guys, and that he's currently on the run with the control device that can do a lot more than just commandeer drones. Cut to Navarro, who's officially setting up a meeting ...

'24: Live Another Day' Recap And Review: '7:00 PM - 8:00 PM' - Violent Demises

6/24/2014 9:06am EDT
'24: Live Another Day' Recap And Review: '7:00 PM - 8:00 PM' - V
At the end of last Monday's episode, 24: Live Another Day revealed a very 24 twist when it blew up a major character, if not plotwise, then certainly in title. It's not so surprising, then, that the show now makes another very 24 move and follows that up with a "Well, not exactly..."

This week's action begins with everyone at the embassy watching news coverage of the blast that they all now know killed President Heller. The Prime Minister (hey, Stephen Fry still works here!) tries to comfort Audrey, before Caroline (Miranda Raison still works here too) questions whether or not Margot will ...

'24: Live Another Day' Recap And Review: '6:00 PM - 7:00 PM' - Death From Above

6/17/2014 9:07am EDT
'24: Live Another Day' Recap And Review: '6:00 PM - 7:00 PM' - D
Last week, 24: Live Another Day leveled a hospital and finally found something awesome for William Devane to do. How do you follow that up? With an episode that ends in a significant character's demise (if albeit a bit underwhelming) and pulls out a couple familiar tricks from the bag sure to delight loyal fans.

While Kate brings Simone to the CIA's medics - and under the watchful eye of boss slash mole Navarro - the rest of Team Rocket...uh, I mean the terrorists are packing up. Margot informs her son that she was contacted by President Heller, who has agreed to her demands. "I didn't thi...

'24: Live Another Day' Recap: '5:00 PM - 6:00 PM' - Love Is A Battlefield

6/10/2014 8:23am EDT
After last week's partly shocking, partly cliched installment of 24: Live Another Day, it was up to the show to either maintain its momentum or keep going back down the road on which we've been before. With an episode that involves blowing up a hospital and some serious family issues, it definitely leans toward the former.

The seventh hour opens with everyone picking up the pieces - literally, as Simone is taken to the hospital after being hit by that bus, the MI5 officers are milling about following their bust-up of Jack's operation, and Kate is recovering from being tortured. She won't h...

'24: Live Another Day' Episode 6 Recap: '4:00 PM - 5:00 PM'

6/3/2014 10:17am EDT
'24: Live Another Day' Episode 6 Recap: '4:00 PM - 5:00 PM'
First of all: isn't it wild that we're already halfway through 24: Live Another Day? After the months we spent waiting excitedly for Jack to come back, how time flies. But some things stay the same, including something that you're either going to love or hate.

We open in the immediate aftermath of last week's major explosion, finding out pretty quickly that Navarro and Erik are still alive, but that a bunch of other CIA agents are not so lucky. The ambush doesn't go over well with anybody on the political side of things, and Prime Minister Davies gets even more upset when his aide Caroline...

'24' Season 9.6: Expendable In-Laws

6/2/2014 10:20pm EDT
24: Live Another Day
Another top-notch, jam-packed episode - 9.6 - of 24 just on tonight.

President Heller has finally come to his senses and entrusts Jack with saving London from the drones. But the Brits, unsurprisingly, don't share Heller's faith in Jack, especially since they know that Heller is not in the greatest shape mentally. Truth is, I was surprised that they allowed an American CIA operation on their soil last week, so their intrusion tonight ties up one important loose end, even as it spells trouble for Jack and Kate.

They're an excellent team, Jack and Kate. We of course already how good Jack...

'24: Live Another Day' Episode 5 Recap: '3:00 PM - 4:00 PM'

5/27/2014 10:06am EDT
'24: Live Another Day' Episode 5 Recap: '3:00 PM - 4:00 PM'
We're rapidly approaching the halfway point of Jack Bauer's return, and so far 24: Live Another Day has been as turbulent for the audience as it has for Jack. The show's been up, it's been down, and now it's starting to get crazy with drones everywhere and Benjamin Bratt finally getting out from his office. Just when you think you know 24, then an episode like this happens.

Picking up where we left off, the smoke is literally still clearing after the U.S. Embassy shootout, and Jack is being taken into custody while his new quasi-ally Kate Morgan is playing dumb beside him. She leaves him t...

'24: Live Another Day' Episode 5: Jack And Audrey

5/26/2014 10:30pm EDT
24: Live Another Day
The 9th season of 24 is now operating at peak performance, which means it's as heart pounding, complex, and peopled with compelling and multifaceted characters as it ever was, at its best. Among the best scenes and developments tonight in 9.5:

Audrey and Jack, and Jack acting as the perfect gentleman, with Audrey in his arms and their lips nearly touching. Hats off to Kim Raver for the best performance I've ever seen her give, not only in earlier seasons of 24, but other shows like Third Watch, Revolution, etc.

Her father, President Heller, continues to be just a little behind the 8-...

'24: Live Another Day' Recap: '2:00 PM - 3:00 PM' - Episode 4

5/20/2014 10:20am EDT
'24: Live Another Day' Recap: '2:00 PM - 3:00 PM' - Episode 4
24: Live Another Day has been a slow starter, but in the fourth hour - if you're keeping count, that's one-third of the way through this ninth cycle - it finally picks up some steam. Getting back to the kinds of things we've come to expect from this show, like tense speeches and the random removal of body parts, this finally feels like the 24 that had us addicted years ago, although it still has room to improve before it gets to truly engrossing levels.

Picking up exactly where last week left off, Jack strong-arms (literally) his way into the U.S. Embassy in London with the CIA behind him....

24 Season 9.4: Brass Tacks and Strong Women

5/20/2014 12:19am EDT
24: Live Another Day
The 9th Season of 24 really got down to brass tonight, in its 4th episode, as all kinds of relationships coalesce and hit the fan. And significantly, the three most major players other than Jack are women, and that does not include Chloe.

Kate proves what we've been seeing in her since the beginning. She's the smartest of all the governmental operatives, including her superiors, and she comes to believe Jack and his warnings about a massive terrorist on London using U.S. missiles. She's daring, dynamic, and risks her life to save Jack in the best scene of this season so far, and what w...

'24: Live Another Day' Recap: '1:00 PM - 2:00 PM'

5/13/2014 10:14am EDT
'24: Live Another Day' Recap: '1:00 PM - 2:00 PM'
When Jack Bauer made his triumphant return last week, 24: Live Another Day wasn't without its flaws, but it was still pretty damn enjoyable. The season's third episode tones down the action that propelled the first two hours, and treats us largely to backstory for characters who are still not quite convincing, except for the show's trademark habit of making the final few minutes count for something.

Jack and Chloe find the corpse of Derek Yates, easily deducing that it was Yates' lady friend Simone that did him in, and they set off in pursuit of her. At the same time, CIA would-be hotshot ...

'24: Live Another Day': Shades of Disloyalties

5/12/2014 11:15pm EDT
24: Live Another Day
A fine 24: Live Another Day episode, which drew well on its London locale, with Jack ranging from the Tube to the Parliament Building, where U.S. President Heller was attempting to address it. But as is often case with 24, the best parts of the hour concerned the shades of loyalty and disloyalty of all the major players and their associates.

Chloe, for example, is loyal to the max to Jack. But not so her dour-faced boss or head of her hacker group - who looks like he's just sucked a lemon - and indeed undermines Chloe's attempt to get Jack into the Parliament by making his fixed-up crede...

'24: Live Another Day': The Sheer Intelligent Adrenaline Is Back

5/6/2014 3:38pm EDT
24: Live Another Day
Jack is back on 24: Live Another Day and the first two hours look as good or better than ever.

In the first hour, Jack allows himself to be captured by the CIA's London branch - he's a wanted "terrorist" - in order to save Chloe, who's in custody herself as an Edward Snowden-type hacker of Defense Department files. The CIA branch features three notable people: Kate (played by Yvonne Strahovski of Dexter fame), Steve (played by Benjamin Bratt of Law and Order and Private Practice), and Gbenga Akinnagbe of The Wire and more). The star power is definitely there, and Kate looks to be the most ...

'24: Live Another Day' Recap: '11:00 AM - 12:00 PM/12:00 PM - 1:
When 24 departed our screens four years ago, it was bittersweet. One of TV's best dramas was ending - but it concluded on its weakest season. The idea of bringing it back, then, was exciting for both the show and for the institution of television alike. Could the writers restore our faith after that subpar final adventure? And would the return give hope to other previously completed shows that they, too, could write one more chapter? (NBC didn't waste much time in following after FOX, deciding to revisit Heroes.) There's a lot riding on Jack Bauer's shoulders here, on-screen and off.

The s...

Producers Evan Katz & Manny Coto Talk '24: Live Another Day'

Producers Evan Katz & Manny Coto Talk '24: Live Another Day'
It's the day we've all been waiting for since last year: the return of 24. Before Jack Bauer begins his ninth really bad day tonight on FOX, BFTV had the opportunity to quiz 24: Live Another Day executive producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto about the process of returning one of TV's best series to our small screens after a four-year break. Here's what they had to say about what you're about to see.

Firstly, even though we're only going to see half the episodes that we're used to, the series isn't ditching its real-time aspect that made it so innovative almost 15 years ago. "This is a real-t...

Jack Bauer Returns In '24: Live Another Day'
Jack Bauer is returning to television after a few years off.

Today FOX revealed details for the limited series 24: Live Another Day, which will follow Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer as he deals with another tense 24 hours.

Also returning to the series are Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe), Kim Raver (Audrey) and William Devane (James Heller). Additions to the cast include Chuck star Yvonne Strahovski, Gbenga Akinnagbe, and Judy Davis.

The series was revealed during the Television Critics Association press tour. Despite the recent reveal, the show will premiere this year on May 5th with a two-ho...

TV Characters We'd Want As Our BFF

7/13/2013 10:03am EDT
King of the Hill
Countless scenes in FOX's King of the Hill showed Hank Hill and his three best friends standing around in the alley, drinking beer and talking about whatever they wanted to. It got us thinking: which TV characters would we want as our BFFs? Here's BFTV's list of the top 10 fictional folks we'd like to be best friends with.

Before you check out our picks, let us set them up for you with the rules of the game:

1) The King of the Hill test: is this character really someone you'd want to spend hours in the alley with?

2) No more than one character from the same TV series

3) No more than one...

'24' Returning To TV For A Limited Run

5/11/2013 8:49am EDT
Jack Bauer 24
Jack Bauer looks like he's coming back to save the world – for a limited time that is.

FOX's hit action series 24 is returning to the small screen for a limited 12-episode run.

Reports recently surfaced online suggesting Kiefer Sutherland's famous counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer would be heading back to TV, and now executive producer David Fury has confirmed the news.

He posted a link on his Twitter.com page on Friday directing fans to a Deadline.com article about the supposed revival, and wrote, "Yep, I'm pulling double duty along w/ (with) (new pilot) TYRANT. Whoo & Hoo!"
