Beginning her modeling career in her hometown of San Diego, Calif., by working for local newspapers and department stores, supermodel Stephanie Seymour was on her way to becoming one of the world's top models at the tender young age of 14. She was born on July 23, 1968, and after winning the Elite Look of the Year contest, she was old enough to move to New York to pursue a professional modeling career.
After appearing on the cover of Cosmopolitan, her big break came in 1991, thanks to Playboy magazine. At 22 years old she sought them out in hopes of landing a photo shoot, which she easily did. The pictorial set her up for constant work. Soon after, she appeared on the cover of Vogue, which set her up for runway work in Europe and in the United States. In 1993, she once again graced the pages of Playboy, this time in the Valentine's issue.
She endured a brief relationship with Guns 'n' Roses frontman Axl Rose, appearing in the band's videos for "November Rain" and "Don't Cry" before moving on and dating actor Warren Beatty. By now, Seymour was gaining popularity and she soon appeared on the covers of the 1994 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Elle, and Self magazines. She also began working in print ads again, this time for the famous catalogue of intimate apparel giant Victoria's Secret. It was there that she gained most of her recognition.
In addition to her magazine spreads, Seymour has been the face of L'Oreal cosmetics, Chanel and Versace. She published a book in 1998, "Stephanie Seymour's Beauty for Dummies," in which she reveals both her own and professional secrets. In 1995, she married publisher Peter Brant and settled down in Connecticut. The couple has three children together.
