Katie Price Biography
Birth Name: Katie Price
A self-made pop culture phenomenon, Katie Price was regarded as either a heroine or a humiliation in her native U.K. Born May 22, 1978, in Brighton, East Sussex, England, Katrina Amy Alexandria Alexis Infield shot to fame as a topless model known as "Jordan" before eventually reclaiming her name "Katie Price." One of the all-time most successful "Page Three girls," Price's extensive plastic surgery skyrocketed her fame and popularity, bringing in boatloads of modeling, hosting and reality TV jobs. To the surprise of many, Price turned out to be a marketing and self-promoting genius, building her own multimillion-dollar empire based on sales of her ghostwritten autobiographies and novels, her multiple reality shows, and her lucrative fashion and beauty merchandising lines. Price saw her profile boosted even higher when she met singer Peter Andre on "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!" (ITV, 2002- ) and the two married and released an album of duets, 2006's A Whole New World. After they divorced, she married UFC fighter Alex Reid, but the two soon split as well. Price drew controversy for putting her children in the spotlight, specifically her eldest son, Harvey, who had physical, emotional and mental challenges, but many supported Price for bringing attention to special needs children. An icon to many while an embarrassment to others, the buxom Price sharply divided feminist critics, with some dismissing her as a vacuous fantasy object while others celebrated her as a savvy, self-made businesswoman.
