Gas was 29 cents a gallon and the average cost for a new home was $12,560.

Elizabeth Taylor-GLA-001997.jpg
Elizabeth Taylor has taken to her Twitter.com blog to defend pal Kathy Ireland from critics who accused the former model of drunken behavior on the red carpet at the Oscars on Sunday.

The reclusive movie veteran was appalled when members of the media attacked the jewelry designer and TV personality for her behavior as the co-host of a pre-Oscars TV special.

Ireland appeared to be overwhelmed on the red carpet as she interviewed stars like Zac Efron and Gabourey Sidibe and left many critics questioning her sobriety.

Kathy Ireland
Model-turned-actress Kathy Ireland has hit back at reports she was drunk at Sunday's Oscars, insisting she was just overjoyed and "grateful" to be invited.

The beauty drew comments from internet critics and bloggers as she interviewed stars including Zac Efron and Gabourey Sidibe during a pre-Oscars special on TV, with many viewers questioning her sobriety.

2010 Academy Awards Fashion: Best & Worst

March 8th, 2010 10:54am EST
Oscars 2010 Fashion
There were some definite hits and misses on the red carpet at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards last night. Zoe Salanda and Charlize Theron both opted for purple - Zoe in a Riccardo Tisci ruffled dress and Charlize Theron in a Dior breast-enhancing gown. Miley Cyrus looked quite grown up in a champagne Jennifer Packham ensemble that featured a corset-like top half.

Jennifer Lopez chose an off-white lopsided Armani Prive gown. Cameron Diaz also wore an Armani Prive, but she harkened back to Hollywood glamour in the gold beaded dress. Also opting for beads was Best Actress winner Sandra Bulloc...

What We Were All Thinking - The Full Starpulse Oscars Recap

March 8th, 2010 1:50am EST
Oscar Feature
Tonight's Oscar ceremony is probably the most re-designed ceremony in Academy history.

Just look at all the changes. 10 Best Picture nominees, two hosts, no Best Song performances, more dance, a supposed streamlined show, and, weirdest of all, a request for no "thank yous" during the acceptance speeches.

Plus, a few of last year's tweaks will remain. They're sticking with the abhorrent practice of having five actors come out and sing the praises of the year's present crop of nominees (at least only in the Leading categories this year), and the producers are insistent on further expandin...
