American supermodel, actress, author and entrepreneur Kathy Ireland was born on March 8, 1963, in Santa Barbara, Calif. Kathy attended San Marcos High School and began modeling when she was discovered by a scout from Elite Modeling Agency at age 17. In 1989, she appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue as well as on the 1992 and 1994 covers. Her acting career includes parts on the television shows "Melrose Place" and "Touched By An Angel" and major roles in the films "Loaded Weapon," "Once Upon A Christmas" and "Necessary Roughness." She also has lent her voice to the animated series "Fantastic Four," "Duckman" and "The Incredible Hulk." Kathy has written the children's books "What Do Mommies Do?," "An Angel Called Hope" and self-help book "Powerful Inspirations." She is also a certified fitness instructor. She is the founder, CEO and chief stylist for Kathy Ireland Worldwide Product Empire and also owns a clothing line at K-Mart. Kathy lives in Southern California with her husband Dr. Greg Olsen and their three children Erik, Lily and Chloe.
Actress and swimsuit model Kathy Ireland began her modeling career when she was still in her teens, signing with Elite Model Management while she was still in high school. The bombshell had no trouble finding regular work, but her big break came in 1984, when the 21 year old was featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. It would be the first in 13 consecutive appearances in the annual pin-up edition of the magazine. She would also grace the Swimsuit Issue's cover three times, along with a host of other magazines.
Ireland parlayed her celebrity into a movie career, beginning in 1988 with the widely panned Alien from L.A. She would go on to appear in a number of other films, like Loaded Weapon 1, Necessary Roughness, and Mom and Dad Save the World, and lent her name to an extremely successful KMart clothing line.
