Most closely associated with his children's books, E.B. White was an American author who also wrote extensively for The New Yorker. A native East Coaster, White attended Cornell University in Ithaca and later set up shop in New York City, becoming a regular contributor to The New Yorker during its fledging era in the mid-1920s. Most of White's work in the following decades was for the magazine, but in 1945 he published his first children's novel, Stuart Little, about a young mouse's adventures in Manhattan.
