'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Extended Trailer Shows Agent Coulson's Return, Hints At Superhero Cameos

May 15th, 2013 12:07pm EDT
Agents of SHIELD
The funny thing about comic book characters is that they rarely stay dead for long.

Agent Phil Coulson, despite getting stabbed in the back in The Avengers and dying in the arms of Nick Fury, has returned to the world of the living and will play a huge role in the upcoming TV series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

At first it was believed the series would take place before the events of The Avengers, but it becomes clear that this is post-New York invasion when an interviewed agent describes himself as "Clearance Level 6" and explains that he knows Coulson was killed.

That's when Coulson...

It's Fashion Fail Time! That means we take a break from letting you know how good all of your favorite stars look to show the other side of fashion: the fails! This week, we get warmed up for the big one: The Oscars. The Oscars are going to bring all sorts of fashion fails, so let us whet your appetite.

Singer Paloma Faith has eccentric fashion, and above she displays her crazy cat lady look. At least she put her Bedazzler to good use.

At least Katherine Jenkins had someone paint her burlap sack before she wore it.

Joss Whedon: 'I'd Direct 'Star Wars' If I Wasn't Directing 'The Avengers' Sequel'

January 14th, 2013 6:07pm EST
Joss Whedon
Joss Whedon would love to work on the next installment in the Star Wars series, but he has an enviable problem: He's already working on the sequel to The Avengers.

Whedon mused to CNN, "I'm as angry as you should be. When I heard [about 'Star Wars'] I was like, 'I wonder ... no, I really can't do that. Oh, I already have a job.' I wouldn't clear the 'Avengers.' I'm having so much fun with that sequel right now, just with the script, that I couldn't imagine not doing it."

The Avengers sequel, which is thought to have nemesis Thanos at its center (he's shown during a credits sequence), is d...

5 Best and 5 Worst Live Action TV Series Based On Comics

August 30th, 2012 4:07pm EDT
The Walking Dead
Expectations are high for Joss Whedon's SHIELD live-action superhero series. While animated series based on comics have flourished ever since Batman: The Animated series broke onto the scene in the early 90s, live-action shows based on comic books are hit-or-miss. They require a larger budget to showcase super powers and outlandish costumes and mutants. Despite this, we were able to point out the five best live action TV shows based on comics - and managed to cut down the worst to five.

The Best:

1. The Incredible Hulk: This TV took its comic book source seriously, and the show profited...

When my friend Jesse Blaze Snider had great things to say about Kimberly Cole during our recent interview, I was curious to meet her. I have a great respect for him, so if he admired her, I figured she was a person I ought to meet.

Beyond that, though, she has a wonderful personality that defines the word "bubbly." She's an avid socia...

'The Cabin In The Woods' Turns The Horror Genre On Its Head

April 14th, 2012 10:00am EDT
'The Cabin In The Woods
'The Cabin in the Woods,' written by Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer & Avengers) and Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) who also directed, is one of the most clever horror films I've seen in a really long time.

Without giving too much away, here's the scenario: Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods and really horrible things start to happen to them. But trust me, it's not what you think or what you've come to expect from your classic horror film.

For me, the highlight of the film involves a group lead by Bradley Whitford and Richard Jenkins and if I told you their involvement it w...

Cabin Woods photo
On the one hand I applaud the attempt by both co-writers Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon to reinvigorate the horror genre by mocking certain conventions and creating all new ones. But in its wry attempt to be a step ahead of typical slice and dice fare, "The Cabin In The Woods" at times comes off as too clever and as a result never feels like its letting the audience in on the joke.

The set up is pure "Evil Dead" cabin retro, with four young and naïve kids heading out to an isolated log hut to do a little partying. The initial addition is in the form of a gang of suit and tie desk jockeys w...

My high hopes for the fourth “American Pie” movie were dashed after I saw “American Reunion.” There was plenty of 90s nostalgia and some of the trademark humor that you love from the franchise, but on the whole the film was pretty depressing. For more of my thoughts, check out the full review.
