In the civil rights movement, three workers were murdered in Mississippi during the "Freedom Summer," and Anchorage, Alaska was hit by a massive earthquake.

'Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.': The Best New Show Of The Fall Season

September 25th, 2013 9:57am EDT
Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Today is good: a Joss Whedon series is back in primetime.

Unlike his last two series, Firefly and Dollhouse, no reports of the network ordering a re-shot pilot hit the Deadlines and TVLines of the internet. Joss Whedon directed one of the biggest movies of all-time (2012's The Avengers); now, he pretty much runs Marvel Studios. He polishes Captain America and Thor and oversees the biggest brand of Marvel right now--The Avengers. Critics and bloggers didn't doubt Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would get ordered to series. Critics and bloggers wondered when they'd get to watch the first episode. Jos...

August 25th, 2013 8:41pm EDT
Joss Whedon
Writer and filmmaker Joss Whedon has become the latest celebrity to quit Twitter after insisting the constant back-and-forth with fans was taking up too much of his day.

He explains, "The moment I joined, oh my God, what a responsibility, this is enormous work - very fun, but it really started to take up a huge amount of my hea...

Scattered Thoughts About Joss Whedon's 'Much Ado About Nothing'

July 5th, 2013 3:36pm EDT
Joss Whedon
I watched Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing over a week ago and didn't write a review, so I wrote scattered thoughts about it instead because I admire both Joss and William Shakespeare.

-The story about Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing production can found anywhere on the internet. Whedon got his friends together, some cameras, and filmed a wonderful adaptation of one of William Shakespeare's better comedies. Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing stood as thee adaptation of the play, in my opinion. His Benedick and Emma Thompson's Beatrice are wonderfully portrayed;...

June 7th, 2013 11:03am EDT
Much Ado About Nothing
Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing, starring his friends, opens in select cities today. Whedon's Sunday afternoon Shakespeare readings have been going on since the days of Buffy. Various actors gathered at the Whedon home to read various Shakespeare plays, which must've been delightful. Now that Joss has adapted a play with his friends for the cinema, what's stopping him, besides an insanely busy schedule that includes a TV series, comics, keeping an eye on various Marvel projects, and that little Avengers sequel, from directing stage productions of Shakespeare twice a year? He can get hi...

January 14th, 2013 6:07pm EST
Joss Whedon
Joss Whedon would love to work on the next installment in the Star Wars series, but he has an enviable problem: He's already working on the sequel to The Avengers.

Whedon mused to CNN, "I'm as angry as you should be. When I heard [about 'Star Wars'] I was like, 'I wonder ... no, I really can't do that. Oh, I already have a job.' I wouldn't clear the 'Avengers.' I'm having so much fun with that sequel right now, just with the script, that I couldn't imagine not doing it."

The Avengers sequel, which is thought to have nemesis Thanos at its center (he's shown during a credits sequence), is d...

The Best:

1. The Incredible Hulk: This TV took its comic book source seriously, and the show profited...
