January 18th, 2011 9:10am EST
George Lucas
Funnyman Seth Rogen was left stunned by a recent encounter with his moviemaking hero George Lucas because the "Star Wars" director spent 20 minutes telling him the world would end in 2012.

Rogen was left speechless when Lucas and Steven Spielberg joined a movie meeting he was a part of - but the encounter has left him worried his life will be over next year.

He recalls, "George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is gonna end in the year 2012, like, for real. He thinks it.

"He's going on about the tectonic plates and all the ...

George Lucas banned Carrie Fisher from wearing a bra while shooting her role in the Star Wars films.

The actress found fame playing Princess Leia in the phenomenally successful movie series, which gained her legions of loyal fans. Fisher now reveals she was ordered to ditch her bra on set to ensure the shoot stayed true to life.

She tells the New York Daily News, "Whatever I would have put on (underneath the costume) would have shown through. It was very fine material."

"I asked George to explain it to me and he said, 'When you go into space, you're weightless and then your body expan...

Since her intense breakout role in 1994’s “The Professional,” Natalie Portman has been one of the most respected and versatile actors working in Hollywood. Her filmography spans over 15 years but is as impressive and solid as Audrey Hepburn’s or Meryl Streep’s, two actresses to whom she has rightfully been compared.

It makes sense that Portman has become one of the most talented performers in Hollywood considering the amazing list of directors with whom she’s worked:

Luc Besson (“The Professional”)

Michael Mann (“Heat”)

Ted Demme (“Beautiful Girls”)

George Lucas Sues Jedi Mind Control Company

August 24th, 2010 9:33am EDT
George Lucas
George Lucas has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against a technology company for allegedly hijacking a "Star Wars" reference to market 'mind control' products.

Lawyers representing the sci-fi franchise's creator fired off a cease-and-desist letter to bosses at Jedi Mind Inc. in May last year, demanding they stop using the name of Star Wars' famous mystical space age knights.

The head of the company, which makes futuristic computer headsets that use brain waves to run software applications, allegedly agreed to phase out the Jedi Mind trademarks, but representatives for the movie gian...

Harrison Ford reprised his role as the heroic archaeologist in 2008's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," which hit cinemas nearly 20 years after 1989's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."

Ford has since confirmed movie bosses Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are working on a follow-up, but he's adamant he will only sign up if he likes the story.

Former America's Next Top Model winner Adrianne Curry endured a nightmare end to her weekend after accusing a "drunk pervert" of molesting her at a Star Wars convention in Orlando, Florida.

The brunette beauty, a self-confessed fan of the sci-fi franchise, was among the hundreds of devotees who flocked to the Star Wars Celebration V event on Saturday, where creator George Lucas unveiled a never-before-seen clip from Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

However Curry, who attended in a skimpy costume, claims her celebrations came to an abrupt end after an unknown man reached up her ...

George Lucas
Star Wars actor David Prowse has been banned from attending any events connected to the sci-fi franchise after reportedly "annoying" creator George Lucas.

The star, who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, reportedly fell out with Lucas when the filmmaker used another actor when the iconic character was unmasked.

Prowse has also been accused of leaking plots relating to Vader's death, while the actor alleges he has not been paid a fair share of profit from the films.

The 75 year old, who has recently beaten pancreatic cancer, has been told he cannot attend any "Lucas...

Harrison Ford Talks 'Star Wars' For Charity

May 21st, 2010 11:13am EDT
Harrison Ford
As an entertainment journalist, I’ve interviewed Harrison Ford four times and never heard him talk about Star Wars. For 30 years, he saved that for charity. Now, George Lucas sponsored the Empire Gives Back initiative, where anniversary screenings of the second film in the saga would be screened for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

In Los Angeles, Ford attended the screening on May 19 and participated in a Q&A for the audience. That particular show raised $40,000 for St. Jude’s. “I want to thank you all for being here and I want to thank George for his generous impulse,” Ford said. “...

George Lucas celebrates the 30th anniversary of his landmark sequel by opening his vault of rare and never-before-seen photos for an upcoming book, and this week's issue has the exclusive excerpt. Star Wars hit theaters on May 25, 1977, and it was unlike anything anyone had ever seen. EW explains why The Empire Strikes Back remains the ultimate Star Wars film.

Is CGI Technology Enough Of A Reason To Remake 'Clash Of The Titans'?

March 31st, 2010 9:08am EDT
Clash of the Titans
As audiences get set for the update of "Clash of the Titans," many hardcore fans of the classic fantasy film are letting loose with that familiar cry of heresy. Sure, digital effects can look more "real" than the rubber and clay monsters created by legendary stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen for the 1981 original, but better? "Better" is a subjective term.

Ask "Star Wars" geeks which Yoda they prefer. When Luke Skywalker landed on Dagobah in 1981's "The Empire Strikes Back," the Yoda he encountered was a foam and latex puppet, voiced and manipulated by Frank Oz. The "real" Jedi Master ...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Cop Out,' 'The Crazies' & More

February 22nd, 2010 9:53am EST
Cop Out
Friday I caught Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese's latest collaboration "Shutter Island." I was not blown away by it, but I did not think it was a terrible movie either. Since I have not read the novel on which it is based, I'm at a bit of a disadvantage to comment on whether it was a faithful adaptation; however as a thriller it kept me guessing for most of the film.

It does a good job of planting the seeds of doubt and conspiracy with you, as you start to piece together a series of bizarre dreams DiCaprio's character experiences. The most annoying aspect of the movie I thought ...

And his death in Los Angeles after a brief illness has shocked Star Wars creator Lucas, who will "always be grateful" for Wiga...

George Lucas Loses Battle Over
George Lucas has lost a copyright battle with a prop maker over a collection of replica helmets from the Star Wars films.

The director's company, Lucasfilm, sued British businessman Andrew Ainsworth, who created the original Stormtrooper helmets for the 1976 sci-fi epic, after he began selling replicas made from the original mould used for the hit movies.

Officials at Lucasfilm filed a $20 million lawsuit against Ainsworth in the U.S., which successfully blocked the sale of the helmets, and had hoped for the same ruling in Britain.

However, the U.K.'s Court of Appeal dismissed t...

Starpulse Writer Gets Schooled On Vampirism With New CW Show

The Vampire Diaries
I'm pretty much a vampire virgin. Any cuts on my neck came from bad shave jobs, not the teeth of a pale, blood-seeking eternal being. I just don't get this sudden vampire craze that's seducing the nation. I've never read "Twilight" (really, sparkling guys are considered sexy?) or an Anne Rice novel. I'm not quite sure what a Sookie Stackhouse or Lycan is, and the last vampire movie I saw in theaters was Mel Brooks' misguided 1995 farce "Dracula: Dead and Loving It."

Clearly I'm missing out on something, and if I want to maintain my position as a knowledgeable pop culture enthusiast I de...

Coming-Of-Age Films That We All Remember

Making the transition from adolescence into adulthood is a critical phase in an individual's life. This coming-of-age period, which has been coined "emerging adulthood" by Clark University research professor, Dr. Jeffrey Arnett, is characterized by identity exploration, self-focus, instability, a belief in boundless possibilities, and feeling in-between. According to Arnett's theory, in industrialized societies the types of experiences that people have who are in their late teens to mid-20's have changed dramatically over the past 50 years. Instead of being quick to make that walk down the ...
