Rapper Tupac Shakur reportedly auditioned for a starring role in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace before his death in 1996.

The California Love hitmaker ventured into acting during the last few years of his life, and he was close to landing what could have been the role of his dreams - as Jedi Master Mace Windu in the 1999 installment of the epic space opera franchise.

In a recent interview for the fan website 2Pac-Forum.com, former Death Row Records engineer Rick Clifford reveals Shakur told him he was up for the iconic role.

A new behind-the-scenes blooper reel from the very first Star Wars film has been unearthed, and the short clip reveals that stormtroopers are a little clumsier than just bumping their heads and being bad marksmen.

The found footage is part of Lucasfilm editor J.W. Rinzler's new enhanced e-reader version of his 2007 book "The Making of Star Wars", which he discovered in the company's archives while researching material for the book's electronic update.

The Force will soon be strong for The Butler star David Oyelowo and Freddie Prinze, Jr. - the two stars have signed on to be part of George Lucas' new CGI-animated Star Wars TV series.

The actors have joined the cast of Star Wars: Rebels, which is currently in development at Lucasfilm Animation for cable network Disney XD.

Vanessa Marshall, Taylor Gray and Steven Jay Blum will lead the voice actors in the series, which will make its debut at the end of 2014, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fire damages building on George Lucas' estate

A building on movie mogul George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch estate in northern California was damaged by fire on Tuesday morning (03Sep13).

Reports suggest a broken electric motor in a ceiling fan was the cause of the blaze, which began at around 4.30am local time.

No one was injured in the fire, which was quickly contained.

Marin County Fire Battalion Chief Mike Giannini described the damage as minimum to moderate.

Star Wars creator George Lucas has become a new dad at the age of 69 after welcoming a daughter via surrogate.

The filmmaker and his new wife, Mellody Hobson, became parents to little Everest Hobson Lucas on Friday (09Aug13), according to the Huffington Post.

The baby is the couple's first biological child; Lucas is also father to three adopted children - Amanda, 32, Katie, 25, and Jett, 20.
