Zac Efron: I Needed A Social Lubricant

July 30th, 2014 3:13pm EDT
Zac Efron Reveals Rehab Struggles On 'Running Wild With Bear Gry
Between rappelling down cliffs and eating bugs, Zac Efron revealed quite a bit about his ongoing struggle with addiction to Bear Grylls on the new show Running Wild with Bear Grylls.

Bear and Zac were relaxing by a fire when the survivalist asked the actor about the difficulties growing up famous. "It was so quick. It was shocking, you know what I mean?" Zac said, before Bear asked him directly about rehab. Zac Efron went to rehab last April, reportedly for drug and alcohol issues.

"The challenging part was never the work – it was sort of the in-between work," Zac revealed. "The social as...

Zac Efron Goes Shirtless – Then Jumps Off A Cliff With Bear Grylls!

July 21st, 2014 7:01pm EDT
Zach Efron
Zac Efron is a fan of all things Bear Grylls – so when the survivalist asked Efron to join him for the premiere of his new show Running Wild with Bear Grylls, the actor asked for "the biggest, baddest adventure." Sure looks like that's exactly what he received.

In a preview video for the NBC series, Efron and Grylls are looking down the face of a cliff in the Catskills Mountains for a scenario where they must get to the bottom. After taking off what clothes they can and placing them in backpacks to keep them dry, Grylls "commits" to the plan by tossing their packs over the cliff!

Celebrities That Turn 40 In 2014

January 1st, 2014 11:00am EST
Leonardo DiCaprio
Happy New Years everyone and welcome to 2014!

It's that time of year for our annual "who is turning 40" this year extravaganza. Truth is, lots of people do, but we'll just keep it to the more famous variety of peeps in the world.

Doing some simple math, 40 years ago would make it 1974.

For those of you who weren't around that year, the mantra of 74' and the world was energy crisis -gasoline was a little hard to get and lines at gas stations were blocks long. Because of the crisis, our then President, Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon imposed a 55 MPH speed limit on highways. That wasn't the re...

'Get Out Alive Eith Bear Grylls' Review: 'Leave No Man Behind'

July 23rd, 2013 8:54am EDT
Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls
Bear Grylls stressed mental strength in the third episode of Get Out Alive. Alicia and Spencer were sent home because they ran out of cheerfulness. Nearly every other team turned on them. I wrote about mental strength vs physical strength in last week's review because I felt sad about Esmerelda's departure--she was basically catatonic this week. Anyway, Get Out Alive does follow teams trying to survive in the wild by following Bear's set of instructions. Bear emphasizes physical and mental well-being. Teams usually follow Bear's instructions somewhat poorly. Physical well-being and mental f...

Premiere Review: 'Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls' Is Man Vs. Wild Lite

July 9th, 2013 10:12am EDT
Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls
Discovery and Bear Grylls parted ways a little less than two years ago. The final Man Vs. Wild episode aired November 29, 2011. Man Vs. Wild was Discovery's more exciting program of survival experts tasked with surviving in exotic places for a week. Les Stroud's series was consistently better. Any one who wanted to learn how to actually survive in the wild watched Survivorman; any one who wanted to see possibly crazy stuff watched Man Vs. Wild. Bear Grylls would skydive, swim in artic waters, eat ANYTHING he could find, climb rockfaces, make a toboggan out of the carcass of a wolf in Siberi...

Discovery Channel Fires Bear Grylls Over Contract Dispute

March 13th, 2012 4:00pm EDT
Man vs. Wild
Bear Grylls is leaving Discovery Channel after six years on the air. According to an exclusive story by The Hollywood Reporter, Grylls and Discovery could not agree on appearances in two other unnamed projects.

Grylls' show, Man vs. Wild, premiered in 2006 and has been a hit ever since. Celebrity cameos included Jake Gyllenhaal, Will Ferrell and Ben Stiller. Grylls' online fandom grew when he began to eat and drink from natural sources - the most extreme being liquid squeezed from elephant dung and infamously drinking his own urine.

The show also created a debate on the new "survival real...

August 5th, 2011 3:30pm EDT
Bear Grylls
Survival expert Bear Grylls' son proved he's following in the TV adventurer's footsteps after rescuing a friend who fell into a river.

The Man Vs. Wild star's seven-year-old son Jesse managed to pull the little girl out of the water and drag her to safety.

Grylls explains, "They (the children) were in a little base in a stream and she fell in. And - I wasn't there, you know, and the story grows and grows every time he tells me - but he did rescue her and he was proud as punch to have dragged her out."

However, Grylls, who is also dad to sons Marmaduke, five, and four-year-old Hucklebe...
