James Cameron's re-release of sci-fi epic "Avatar" was a flop at the box office over the weekend, as "The Last Exorcism" held on to a thin lead over bank heist movie "Takers."

The horror film came out on top, debuting with $21.3 million in earnings, followed closely by "Takers" - the crime drama starring Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Matt Dillon opened with $21 million.

But the figures were so close, experts have warned the films could make a switch in the number one and two spots ahead of Monday's final weekend results.

Meanwhile, Cameron's 3-D special edition of "Avatar," which i...

He tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I'm talking about a future when you don't have to put 3D on the the movie poster anymore, the same way that you don't put 'in color' on posters anymore. Imagine that point in time, when 3D is just ...

Van claims the "demeanor," "attire," "motions" and "powers/rituals" of the Na'vi characters, as well as the "settings" and "scenes...

James Cameron Slams 'Clash Of The Titans'

4/23/2010 3:00pm EDT
James Cameron
James Cameron is calling for movie bosses to put together a special organization to regulate the quality of 3D films - following the "stupid" decision to add effects to Clash Of The Titans.

The director embraced the technique when making his hugely successful sci-fi epic Avatar, and he's been championing 3D movies ever since. And he is convinced industry officials need to form a new organization to publicize and protect 3D films - because poor quality effects will harm the new genre.

Cameron says, "What I'd love to do is put together some kind of a forum with the DGA (Directors Guild of...

James Cameron's 'Avatar' is now the highest grossing film of all time, and the eagerly awaited DVD and Blu-ray of the film is being released today. No wonder it's a hit with audiences of all ages, across the globe!

He tells the New York Daily News, "I certainly feel a personal sense of responsibility (over environmental issues) because I made a movie on these issues. Why? Because th...

A Look At The 'Predator' Franchise

4/20/2010 11:10am EDT
Predators 2010
There are few science fiction horror franchises as popular and well known as the Predator series. It came out only a year after James Cameron's equally well received series Aliens began, and the two franchises inspired dozens of films, TV shows, comic books, and horror novels afterward. Man vs. the wild became man vs. an alien creature, and the predator specifically is one of the most terrifying monsters to ever cross the big screen. Intelligent, powerful, and stealthy, the Predator hunts down humans or aliens alike and killing them with a single minded intensity. Starpulse.com decided to t...

What We Were All Thinking - The Full Starpulse Oscars Recap

3/8/2010 1:50am EST
Oscar Feature
Tonight's Oscar ceremony is probably the most re-designed ceremony in Academy history.

Just look at all the changes. 10 Best Picture nominees, two hosts, no Best Song performances, more dance, a supposed streamlined show, and, weirdest of all, a request for no "thank yous" during the acceptance speeches.

Plus, a few of last year's tweaks will remain. They're sticking with the abhorrent practice of having five actors come out and sing the praises of the year's present crop of nominees (at least only in the Leading categories this year), and the producers are insistent on further expandin...
