Tom Brokaw Says Cancer Is 'In Remission'
Legendary newsman Tom Brokaw revealed his cancer is in remission.

"A year ago my future was more uncertain than I cared to acknowledge but now I face the New Year with very encouraging news," he wrote in a letter NBC News.

"The cancer is in remission and I will shortly go on a drug maintenance regimen to keep it there."

Brokaw revealed in February that he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. This meant cancer cells were overtaking healthy, disease-fighting cells in his bone marrow.

Newsman Tom Brokaw Reveals Battle With Multiple Myeloma
Former NBC nightly news anchor and current special correspondent Tom Brokaw has been diagnosed with cancer.

The iconic newsman shared the news on Tuesday that he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma back in August of last year and that he and his doctors are optimistic about his treatment.

Brokaw, who has worked for NBC for 48 years, said in a statement, "With the exceptional support of my family, medical team and friends, I am very optimistic about the future and look forward to continuing my life, my work and adventures still to come.

Beloved newsman Tom Brokaw has spoken out to assure fans he is OK after he was admitted to the hospital on Thursday.

The 72 year old was taken away in an ambulance after feeling light-headed on the set of TV series Morning Joe in Charlotte, North Carolina.

However, the former anchor of NBC Nightly News has since taken to Twitter.com and blamed the health scare on a sleeping medication mix-up, writing, "All is well. Early AM (morning) I mistakenly took a half dose of Ambien and made less sense than usual."

Brokaw has been in Charlotte to cover the Democratic National Convention.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has faced his toughest TV interview as Governor of California after veteran newsman Tom Brokaw insisted he'd be fired if he ran a company the way he runs the state.

The Terminator star was taken aback when Brokaw got tough with Schwarzenegger's leadership qualities during a taped interview for political news show Meet The Press.
