Genres: Alternative Rock, Pop Punk, Punk Rock

Yellowcard is an American pop punk/alternative rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1997, and based in Los Angeles, California since 2000. The original members were vocalist Ben Dobson, guitarist/vocalist Todd Clary, guitarist Ben Harper and drummer Longineu W. Parsons III.

Yellowcard released their debut album, “Midget Tossing,” in 1997 via DIY Records. This album, along with their next two albums, 1999’s “Where We Stand” and 2001’s “One for the Kids” failed to garner any success on the Billboard charts. Also, no singles were released from any of these albums.

However, in 2003, they achieved success with the release, “Ocean Avenue.” The album charted within the Top 30 of the Billboard 200 Albums chart. It featured the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 single in the album’s title track. This single was certified gold by the RIAA, as well as the follow-up single, “Only One.” The album was then certified platinum in July 2004.

Their fifth album, “Lights and Sounds,” was issued in 2006 and was an even bigger success on the Billboard 200, peaking within the Top 5. While not charting a Top 40 single on the Hot 100, the album’s title track reached #50 on the chart, as well as becoming their highest chart entry on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks (now Alternative Songs) chart.

They then released “Paper Walls” in 2007 peaking at #13 on the Billboard 200. The lead single, “Light Up the Sky,” peaked at #32 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 Tracks chart. Shortly thereafter the band took a two-year hiatus starting in 2008.

Yellowcard reformed in 2010 and released, “When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes,” in 2011. The album reached #19 on the Billboard 200. “For You, and Your Denial” was the album’s first single, peaking at #100 on the Billboard Hot 100.

There next album, “Southern Air,” was released in 2012, featuring the single, “Always Summer.”
