Keith Richards Confirms Rolling Stones Tour - 51 Years On

Keith Richards has confirmed The Rolling Stones will hit the road for a 50th anniversary tour - 51 years after they formed.

Fans of the iconic rock band have been desperate for a series of concerts to celebrate the group's half-century landmark this year, and even guitarist Ronnie Wood expressed hope they will tour soon.

Richards has now confirmed they do plan to play live again - but it's unlikely they'll be able to schedule gigs until 2013.

Rolling Stones Considering 50th Anniversary Tour

The Rolling Stones are in talks to stage a 50th anniversary tour in 2011, according to drummer Charlie Watts.

The rocker, who will turn 70 next year, admits the supergroup can no longer afford to make distant plans, and so they're talking about an extensive, perhaps final, world trek sooner rather than later.

Watts tells Le Parisien, "We said that if we do something, it will be next year or the year after... We've reached an age where you can't look too far into the future."

His co-founders Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will both turn 70 in 2013.

Rock veterans the Rolling Stones have blasted retirement rumors - guitarist Keith Richards has revealed the band is poised to return to the studio to record a new album.

The group is currently resting between tours and have been rocked by allegations about bandmate Ronnie Woods' battles with addiction and tabloid coverage of his romance with a waitress 40 years his junior.
