Sade Returns After 10 Years With 'Soldier Of Love', Out Feb. 9
"Soldier of Love" is only the sixth studio album the band Sade released during their 25 year career, and the first since "Lovers Rock" in 2000. For Sade herself, as the lynchpin of the group's songwriting effort, it's a simple matter of integrity and authenticity. "I only make records when I feel I have something to say. I'm not interested in releasing music just for the sake of selling something. Sade is not a brand."
The call went out in 2008 for the group to re-convene at Peter Gabriel's Real World studio, near Sade's home in the countryside of south west England. It was the first tim...

This Week's Movie Buzz: See It, Rent It, Or Skip It?
Last week, I chose to see "Public Enemies," which is a decision I definitely do not regret. Johnny Depp is electric as John Dillinger, oozing the charm and finesse of the real life American bank robber and folk hero. Christian Bale also does a solid job as the FBI agent Melvin Purvis, a man singularly obsessed with catching Dillinger.
My main complaints are that the movie does not develop the roles of the other gangsters very well, and at points that the cinematography leaves something to be desired. There are some really shaky handheld shots, which are nauseating. Other than that, ...

'American Idol' Showdown: Adam Should Win In A Landslide
It's interesting the way Ryan Seacrest framed last night's battle of the American Idol finalists, painting a major contrast between the two contestants. His list of the differences between the two singers was not simply a clashing description of two people, but a sort of rallying cry for the sections of the country each guy supposedly represented.
In one corner, Ryan gave us the clean-cut country boy from the "real" America who would just love to get your votes. In the other corner, we met the freakish glam rocker from that hedonistic land of California who does his best to com...

'American Idol' Recap: Anoop & Megan Must Go
Random Thoughts While Waiting for the American Idol Contestants to Start Singing:
-It's amazing how four judges can combine to say absolutely nothing in the show open.
-What a strange theme. Why not just say, "pick whatever song you want"?. How does one define a 'popular' download? Conspiracy people!
-Just when you thought the product placement couldn't get any more shameless - Seacrest uses it to promote his own show!
-Wow, Ryan Seacrest plays drops of Simon Cowell and the "American Idol" theme on his show. Local FM Radio now seems like a bastion of creativity and w...

Music Picks From The Stars Of 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters'
Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters hits cinemas April 13 and if you're like me, you gotta wonder what the four main characters of rock to in their boom boxes. What follows is an odd eclectic mix of tunes - from Carl's big hair rock to Master Shake's collection of tunes about promiscuous women.
Carl:
Jailbreak - AC/DC
If you go to jail, why stay there? Get some friends with guns and dynamite to get you out.
Mr. Roboto - Styx
There's more to this song than meets the eye. He's like, in this jail for kick ass rockers, and he kills this robot and hides inside th...
