Whitesnake Drummer Leaves Band Following Injury

January 6th, 2013 4:07pm EST
Whitesnake
Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy has quit the group less than a week after breaking his collarbone in a mountain bike accident.

The rocker, who has also worked with Billy Idol, Ozzy Osbourne and Foreigner, was forced to bow out of a Las Vegas concert with his band The Moby Dicks on New Year's Eve after severely injuring his clavicle.

And it appears his recovery time has prompted Tichy to consider his future as the man behind Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale.

He reveals he wants to focus on his supergroup Something Unto Nothing, which he formed with Canadian rocker Sass Jordan and his...

Whitesnake To Help Re-Launch Looted Record Store

March 8th, 2012 8:23am EST
Whitesnake
The stars of Whitesnake will make a special appearance at a London record store later this month to re-launch the shop after it was looted in riots last summer.

Members of the rock group, including guitarist Doug Aldrich, bassist Michael Devin and drummer Brian Tichy, will attend the reopening of Rockbottom Music in Croydon, south London, seven months after it was targeted in the civil unrest which swept across England in August.

The shop was looted and damaged by fire and subsequently underwent a massive refurbishment, but it won't be open again to the public until April after sufferin...

Collateral Damage From Robert Plant's Decision To Nix Zep Reunion

December 25th, 2008 5:00pm EST
Led Zeppelin
Since the surviving members of Led Zeppelin reformed last December for a one-off show to pay tribute to late Atlantic Records founder and legend Ahmet Ertegun, the man who discovered and brought us some of the most talented artists of all-time (seriously, we really could use another Ahmet right about now-- but since the almighty dollar overshadows the need for actual talent we can forget that) and gave a handful of folks in England the greatest holiday gift ever, there has been a weekly story about the band going on tour. And not going on tour. But wanting to tour. And not wanting to tour. ...

AARP Tour: Bands That Shouldn't Be Touring Anymore

June 24th, 2008 10:25am EDT
Steely Dan
Sometimes it seems like a band just doesn't know when to quit. Just imagine how many times you've heard some classic rock DJ try to pawn off front row tickets to Steely Dan, or how many advertisements you've seen for a free REO Speedwagon show at the naval base followed by fireworks and the Glen Hill retirement community brass band. While I'll admit that the willingness of these groups to play every major outdoor amphitheater each summer showcases their tenacity, it doesn't exactly work wonders for their dignity. After a while, playing to half-empty audiences of drunken suburbanites has to ...

On The Road Again: Music To Make The Trip More Enjoyable

April 16th, 2008 3:38pm EDT
Sum 41
Imagine driving across the country with nothing but the great open road in your future. Going through barely-there towns and the desert, the road is full of possibilities (as well as seedy hotels and exorbitant gas prices). What makes the drive go by quicker? Music. It's essential for any kind of driving - whether you're on your way to the grocery store or to visit your friend's summer place up north. It's important that your playlists and CDs feature a mix of your favorite songs, and the music you pick can set the theme of your entire trip.

Here are just a few songs to add to your ...

Can Guitar Hero Top Itself?

April 10th, 2008 2:30pm EDT
Guitar Hero
When the first Guitar Hero was released for the Playstation 2 in November 2005, it was met with both critical acclaim and a lot of buzz: a video game that substituted a simulated guitar for the standard controller? Why, it was unheard of! The game sold a modest 1.5 million copies and was popular enough to launch an entire franchise that has only gotten better with time.

Take, for example, the setlists. The original game, with a mere 47 songs, was composed of almost entirely cover versions. Guitar Hero II, on the other hand, contained 64 songs, four of which were actually recorded by th...

And The Sexiest Music Videos Are...

March 4th, 2008 2:45pm EST
Shakira
What's hotter than your favorite music artist, model or actress shaking her booty, or pelvis for that matter, in a music video? We compiled a list of some of the sexiest music videos that get our pulses pumping and thumping:

5. Jennifer Lopez, "I'm Glad" (2003)

Video Concept: An homage to the 1983 film Flashdance, only with lots more junk in the trunk.

Okay, I admit it. I'm a huge fan of "Flashdance," and I watch it each and every time I come across it. She's "just a steel town girl on a Saturday night," welding by day and moonlighting as an artistic stripper, and I'm sucke...

Music Spotlight: 80s Hair Bands

January 2nd, 2008 10:15am EST
Twisted Sister
Hair. It's a four letter word that made a big impact on bands during the 80s. During that time, Aqua Net super hold hairspray was a household name and big-bodied hair was the goal for some rockers. Bands such as Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and Twisted Sister took big hair to a whole new level.

Short black locks and long blonde hair could only point to a band that doesn't follow the rules so well. Twisted Sister, fronted by Dee Snider, flaunted his thick, blond tresses during such anthems as, "We're not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock." Not only did he have big hair, his band...

Music Picks From The Stars Of 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters'

Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters hits cinemas April 13 and if you're like me, you gotta wonder what the four main characters of rock to in their boom boxes. What follows is an odd eclectic mix of tunes - from Carl's big hair rock to Master Shake's collection of tunes about promiscuous women.

Carl:

Jailbreak - AC/DC

If you go to jail, why stay there? Get some friends with guns and dynamite to get you out.

Mr. Roboto - Styx

There's more to this song than meets the eye. He's like, in this jail for kick ass rockers, and he kills this robot and hides inside th...

David Coverdale, Whitesnake Hit The Road In 2006

February 23rd, 2006 7:05pm EST
Whitesnake
Legendary front man David Coverdale is bringing Whitesnake back on the road in 2006 with an entirely new perspective of his 30-year multi-platinum career. "I'm on a mission," says Coverdale laughing. "It's an appropriate time to be playing good, uplifting, positive rock 'n' roll." With their blend of hard rock, soul, blues, and balladry...a healthy dose of priapic posturing and good time fun, Whitesnake is pretty much on it's own in today's grim, unsmiling climate.

The band will be touring Europe extensively in support of a New In Concert DVD/CD, "LIVE...In The Still Of The Night"...Bo...

Now the first single-disc retrospective of the band led by David Coverdale and Whitesnake's first official DVD live set both debut in early 2006. The CD, The Definitive Collection, produced with the full participation of Coverdale, and the DVD, Live.In The ...
