Barry White, the Maestro of Love, wears the crown well on this romantic set. "Sheet Music," with its memorable lyrics and music, depicts White's bedroom bravado but unfortunately went unnoticed in many markets. "I Believe in Love" has a soulful groove and cool hand claps; the verses work, but the chorus is less than riveting. Beginning like Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," "Ghetto Letto" evolves into a funk piece Barry White style with weaving horns and pulsating polyrhythms. A sorry calypso attempt ("Rum and Cola") is the only low point. White rediscovers his groove on "She's Everything to Me," a slow recited floater that along with "Love Makin' Music" would fit on a Love Unlimited Orchestra album. Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
