But first, how about a little “Fifty Nifty United States”… “From 13 original colonies!”

1/20/2015 7:31pm EST
Weird Al Yankovic
Weird Al Yankovic is set to take the globe by storm in support of his latest album, "Mandatory Fun," with a "Mandatory World Tour."

The funnyman announced his 2015 tour on Tuesday, revealing that he'll kick things off in Las Vegas with a five night run at Planet Hollywood from May 12-16.

The comedian will then spend the next four months touring North America, playing dates in the U.S. and Canada before heading over to Europe for eight dates.

Weird Al's latest album became his first No. 1 release, topping the Billboard 200 chart in July, also making it the first comedy album to land the t...

10 Songs Featuring ‘White’ In Their Title
Sometimes one word provides common ground for numerous, unrelated songs. Yes it sounds crazy and probably is, but if the old genre-divided playlist has grown old, it’s time to shake things up. The possibilities that happen courtesy of a randomized playlist using one word as the inspiration is nothing short of magical. Hence why this playlist, formed by songs featuring the word ‘white’ within their titles, is truly something…

1) Michael Jackson, “Black or White” (Dangerous)

Honestly, how can you leave ‘the king’ off of any list, particularly if he has a song that fits? “Black Or White”...

Weird Al Yankovic Parodies TV Theme Songs, Pushes 'Game Of Thron
There were few highlights to a rather uneventful and, frankly, boring 2014 Emmy Awards ceremony Monday night, but about halfway into the show, 'Weird Al' Yankovic took the stage for three-and-a-half minutes for a parody medley of the theme songs of hit shows "Mad Men," "Scandal," "Homeland," "Modern Family" and "Game of Thrones," the latter of which was the focus of the skit and co-starred Andy Samberg as the show's now deceased young king Joffrey Baratheon.

Dancers dressed in outfits the likes of the ones on the show surrounded the singer as he pleaded for writer George R.R. Martin to hur...

'Weird Al' Still Shocked By First Number-One Album, Says He Didn't 'Pull A Beyonce' With Videos

7/25/2014 2:44pm EDT
Weird Al Yankovic
Weird Al Yankovic still can't believe that his latest album, "Mandatory Fun," has debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200 chart.

"It's still hard for me to wrap my head around that. It means a lot to me," the comedian said in a recent interview, according to Reuters.

"I didn't think [a number-one album] was an option for me," he told TIME magazine. "I thought there was a glass ceiling for comedy albums. The last time a comedy album topped the Billboard charts was over half a century ago."

That album was Allan Sherman's "My Son, the Nut" in 1963.

Last week Yankovic told National Publi...

This Week in Music : Weird Al Takes 'Mandatory Fun' To The Top

This Week in Music : Weird Al Takes 'Mandatory Fun' To The Top
“Weird Al” Yankovic did the unthinkable this week – debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200! That’s right, Weird Al’s latest album Mandatory Fun sold a robust 104,000 copies. Sure for other artists 104,000 copies might not be the ‘end all be all,’ but considering last week no albums surpassed the 100,000 copies mark and that comedy albums don’t generate those kinds of numbers, Al’s doing big things.

Jason Mraz was expected to put some pressure on Weird Al for top honors, and he did, coming up just short at 102,000 copies with Yes!. Even so, 102,000 copies is fantastic in the current market....

Watch 'Weird Al' Yankovic's 8 New Videos, Which Have Had Over 46 Million Views As New Album 'Mandatory Fun' Tops Chart

7/23/2014 10:42pm EDT
Weird Al Yankovic
Weird Al Yankovic has landed nearly 50 million views of his eight new videos, which he began debuting in support of his latest album, "Mandatory Fun," which dropped last Tuesday.

The videos have boosted the sales of the album, landing the comedian/singer his first ever number one record on the Billboard 200 chart, selling over 103,000 units.

Yankovic kicked off a week of promos last Monday with "Tacky," a parody of Pharell Williams "Despicable Me 2" soundtrack "Happy," and followed it up with a spoof of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," a song that focuses on the improper use of grammar cal...

'Weird Al' Yankovic Lands First Ever Number-One Album On The Billboard 200 With 'Mandatory Fun'

'Weird Al' Yankovic Lands First Ever Number-One Album On The Bil
Weird Al Yankovic His scored his first number one on the Billboard 200 with new album "Mandatory Fun."

The comedian/singer released his 14th studio album last Tuesday and the new disc sold over 103,000 copies to land the top spot.

"Mandatory Fun" marks the first time a comedy album has topped the chart in over a half century. The last to do it was Allan Sherman with his 1963 release, "My Son, The Nut."

Fueled by parodies of Pharrell Williams' "Happy" and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," "Mandatory Fun" may actually be Yankovic's last traditional record album, as the singer recently told N...

Music Review: Weird Al's 'Mandatory Fun' Is A Blast

Music Review: Weird Al's 'Mandatory Fun' Is A Blast
When Weird Al Yankovic says that the ‘fun’ must be ‘mandatory’ on his latest album, he doesn’t lie. Mandatory Fun is exactly what it says it is – while and after listening, you must have fun! The parody king definitely delivers the goods across 12 tracks. There’s no ‘fails’ to be found, but some songs ring ‘golden’ from the jump.

“Handy” is a brilliant way to kick things off, with Yankovic parodying #1 hit “Fancy” (Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX). Among the most memorable lines include “I got 99 problems but a switch ain’t one” (verse two) and “Yeah check my big staple gun, my socke...

Weird Al Is 'Handy,' In Response To Iggy Azalea's 'Fancy'

PR Photos
Weird Al's fourth new music video this week is out, and he wants everyone to know how Handy he is.

Set to the tune of Iggy Azalea's hit Fancy, Weird Al brags about how good he is with household fix-it-ups. Wearing a blonde wig and fake mustache, he raps, "I'm so handy, you already know / I'll fix your plumbing when your toilet overflows / I'm so handy, I'll bring you up to code / When your dishwasher's about to explode."

It's Weird Al's fourth of eight videos he plans to release to promote his newest album Mandatory Fun, which was released Tuesday. He previously released music videos fo...

"Weird Al" Yankovic Says 'Mandatory Fun' Is His Last Album

7/16/2014 8:01pm EDT
Weird Al Yankovic
"Weird Al" Yankovic says his latest album, "Mandatory Fun," which was released Tuesday will likely be his last - but that doesn't mean he's retiring.

The comedian/singer says that thanks to YouTube it just isn't practical to put out full length albums anymore because of the way the video sharing site has made it simple for anyone to make their own parody videos, so his 14th studio disc is likely his last.

Yankovic has no bitterness or hard feelings about it though.

"Actually, I don't view it as a competition at all," he tells NPR. "I think it's wonderful that there's a level playing fiel...

'Foil,' Weird Al's Parody of 'Royals,' Isn't Entirely About Food – Watch The New Music Video

7/16/2014 11:43am EDT
Weird Al
Weird Al is known for his musical parodies involving food (Eat It and Fat are classics), so Lorde should be honored that her hit Royals is the only song on his new album Mandatory Fun that takes a culinary turn.

In the third music video released in as many days by Weird Al to promote the album, the musician teamed up with College Humor to produce Foil which appears to extol the virtues of using aluminum foil to protect leftovers. However, there's a much more important use and in involves the Illuminati and New World Order.

"Oh, by the way, I've cracked the code / I've figured out these ...

Weird Al Is Tired Of Your 'Word Crimes'

7/15/2014 1:03pm EDT
Weird Al Is Tired Of Your 'Word Crimes'
In his second music video in as many days (and #2 of the eight he will release over eight days), Weird Al is taking on the poor grammar he has seen on the Internet.

In a parody of Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, titled Word Crimes, Al goes full "grammar Nazi" on people who use numbers in words and "it's" incorrectly. We'll toot our own horn and mention we also correctly guessed this parody when we saw the track list.

The music video is completely graphical, so don't expect the celebrity cameos we enjoyed in yesterday's Tacky release. Still, it gets the song's point across.

Weird Al sings...

7 Albums to Check Out: This Week in Music

7 Albums to Check Out: This Week in Music
After an extremely quiet week of new releases last week (July 8), This week, July 15, has more ‘weapons’ in its arsenal. Yes, the basketball team has more highly touted, long-range shooters – in other words, there are more albums with bigger chart potential. There isn’t one huge star itself, but definitely some experienced musicians who’ve previously tasted success. Here are 7 albums to check out this week.

1) Jason Mraz, Yes! (Atlantic)

Yes! Marks pop singer/songwriter Jason Mraz’s fifth studio album. Yes! Follows Mraz’s high-flying 2012 LP, Love Is a Four Letter Word. Love d...

Weird Al Kicks Off Eight Music Videos In Eight Days With 'Happy'
To celebrate the release of his latest album Mandatory Fun, Weird Al is releasing eight music videos in eight days – and we got the first one right here: his awaited parody of Pharrell's smash Happy, simply titled Tacky.

We correctly guessed last week, after seeing the track list, that Tacky would be his take on the Grammy-winning song. Now Al has also aped Pharrell's music video, but with some of his favorite celebrities.

Eric Stonestreet, Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Jack Black, and Kristen Schaal all appear along with Al in the music video, which is done in one continuous take. They al...

New Epic Rap Battle Of History Pits Two Scientific Geniuses Against Each Other

6/16/2014 5:00pm EDT
Isaac Newton
That's right, a new ERB is out, and this time it's Isaac Newton (played by Wierd Al Yankovic) versus Bill Nye.

Scientifically and mathematically inclined people will get the most laughs out of this particular episode, but as always, they include fun little historical tidbits you may recall from your high school history class or through pop culture. It's pretty good, per usual, not quite as strong as their Rick Grimes vs. Walter White, which was probably their best offering so far this season. Still, Weird Al brings a new voice to the show and it's definitely a well spent 3 minutes of your...

Brittany's 'The Voice' Blog: My Day At Season 2 Auditions

9/6/2011 10:00am EDT
The Voice
Here's the latest on and around NBC's The Voice: auditions for Season 2 wrapped last week in Los Angeles, and yours truly was there. Here's my audition-day dish.

It's been hard for me to talk about Season 2 auditions, because I haven't been at any of them (although Nakia did give some insight on the Houston round in a previous blog). That changed on August 30, when they arrived at the Los Angeles Forum. Now, I should note that this blog is going to be from the first person and not a news report...because I wasn't there to cover the auditions. I was there to audition.

I can tell you what...

Weird Al Yankovic Releases Music Video For Lady Gaga Parody 'Perform This Way' - Watch It!

6/20/2011 4:00pm EDT
Weird Al Yankovic
Weird Al Yankovic has released the video to his Born This Way parody Perform This Way on YouTube today. Watch it below!

For a while it appeared the parody would not happen: Despite not having to seek out permission due to copyright laws, Weird Al always contacts artists for their blessing. Apparently a manager fielding his calls made Weird Al jump through several hoops before ultimately saying no. After Weird Al wrote a story about it on his blog, Lady Gaga gave him permission to go ahead and release the track on his CD Alpocalypse, which hits stores tomorrow.

Within the video, Weird Al...

Lady Gaga Shoots Down Weird Al Yankovic's Parody Of 'Born This Way' (Listen Here) UPDATED: She Approves!

4/20/2011 7:25pm EDT
Weird Al Yankovic
Weird Al Yankovic added his classic touch to Lady Gaga's hit single, "Born This Way," poking fun at the eccentric singer's sense of style - like meat dresses and giant eggs - in his parody, titled "Perform This Way."

But according to a post titled "The Gaga Saga" on Weird Al's blog this morning, Lady Gaga refused to approve the song for release after hearing the final cut.

The comedian explained how he always asks artists for their blessing before putting a parody of their song on one of his albums, but that in this case things were a little different. He wrote that Lady Gaga's manager sa...
