Paramore to launch festival at sea

Rockers Paramore are set to hit the high seas with Tegan & Sara on the inaugural Parahoy! Cruise next spring (Mar14).

Paramore singer Hayley Williams confirmed reports suggesting her band was the latest to plan a festival at sea on Thursday (22Aug13).

The five-day event will depart from Miami, Florida on 7 March (13) and sail to the Caribbean.

They won't be the only cult rock act inviting fans to join them on a cruise next year - Weezer set sail with Cat Power and Toro Y Moi in February (14).

Acts are set to be added in the coming weeks for both at-sea events.

Zombie-loving rockers Weezer will take over the Comic-Con International event in California in a celebration of The Walking Dead.

The band will attend the convention in San Diego, California to help mark the 10th anniversary of Robert Kirkman's popular zombie comics, which inspired the horror TV series starring Andrew Lincoln.

Weezer will perform at a Walking Dead-themed party on Friday night, and they will also hand out special posters depicting themselves as zombies.

Former Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh predicted he would die in Chicago, Illinois just weeks before he passed away in a hotel room in the city on Saturday.

The 40 year old was discovered unresponsive at the Raffaello Hotel over the weekend. Officials have yet to release his cause of death as they await the results of toxicology tests.

However, in an eerie twist, Welsh wrote a post on his Twitter.com account two weeks before tragedy claiming he had dreamt he would die in his sleep in Chicago after suffering a heart attack.

Former Weezer Bassist Mikey Welsh Found Dead In Hotel Room

Former Weezer star Mikey Welsh was found dead in his Illinois hotel room on Saturday.

Welsh was set to check out of the Raffaello Hotel in Chicago, but when the 40 year old failed to, staff members entered his room to find him unconscious and not breathing, according to the Associated Press.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on Sunday. The cause of death is pending toxicology tests. Police spokesperson Laura Kubiak has confirmed there is nothing to indicate foul play.

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has asked fans to get creative for a new computer art contest he is judging.

The rocker is teaming up with electro music producer Deadmau5 to preside over the Adobe Imagination Challenge.

The competition requires entrants to use Adobe computer software to produce an inspiring work of digital art showing the "power and depth" of their imagination.

The panel will pick five winners to receive $10,000, while 36 others will receive $550 for their submissions.

Rockers Slipknot will share their upcoming set at Britain's Sonisphere festival with fans all over the world by streaming the gig over the internet.

The band will take to the stage at the rock event at England's Knebworth House on Sunday and the gig will mark the band's first U.K. show since the death of bassist Paul Gray last year.

Rockers Weezer have refused to cancel a gig in Alabama after the state was hit by a series of tornadoes, vowing to bring "love and rock" to the area.

Storms swept across six southern states over a 24-hour period, beginning on Wednesday, and the worst damage occurred in Alabama, where over 200 people perished.

Weezer: 'We'll Retire For $20 Million'

Weezer have responded to an online campaign to stop them from releasing another album, insisting they'll retire if anti-fans come up with $20 million.

James Burns wants to silence the band by paying them off and he's embarked on a bid to raise $10 million to split the group. Burns claims the Buddy Holly rockers have failed to live up to their 1996 album Pinkerton and he's taking his crusade online to find followers around the world.

The band is taking the campaign in its stride - with drummer Patrick Wilson joking they'll consider an inflated offer.

An anti-Weezer fan has launched an online campaign to stop the band from releasing another album - and he's hoping to raise $10 million to silence them.

Weezer star Rivers Cuomo has been cleared by doctors to leave a New York hospital - following a freak bus accident that left him with a punctured lung and three broken ribs.

The singer was admitted to Albany Medical Center after a crash en route to a show at Boston University's Agganis Arena in Massachusetts on Sunday.

Emergency crews were forced to break into the bus to rescue Cuomo, who was trapped in the wreckage and could not move or speak because of his injuries.

Rockers Weezer have entered into a bizarre new deal to produce their own blanket brand. The band's new 'Wuggie' - a blanket with sleeves - will be available in stores later this year.

The Beverly Hills hit-makers have teamed up with the creators of the popular Snuggie quilt for the project.

Weezer announced today a North American tour in support of their top ten album Weezer (referred to as the Red Album).

Starting September 23 at the Tsongas Center in Boston, the band will embark on a five week tour including dates in New York City at Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles' Great Western Forum. Disturbed Indestructible On U.S. Album Charts

Rockers the Disturbed have scored a third number one album in America after taking new release Indestructible to the top of the charts.

The album 252,000 units in its first week on release to put David Draiman's group in the company of Van Halen, U2, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, Staind and System of a Down - the only other rock acts who can boast three successive number one debuts with studio albums.
