Walls of Jericho
Bound Feed the Gagged
Release Date: 1999 12 14
Label: Trust Kill
Rating:

The Bound Feed the Gagged is an album that exemplifies everything that is dominant about the combination of independent hardcore and heavy metal, as every song on the 11-track outing is an explosive carnivore of sound. Candace Kucsulain is a ferocious frontwoman with screams that leave a devastating impact, and further proves that sex is no foregone conclusion when it comes to aggressive music. The lyrics are surprisingly upfront yet equally subtle and cryptic, confronting personal demons with elegant brutality, propelling such songs as "Home Is Where the Heart Is" and "Why Father" to cataclysmic crescendos of heart-wrenching intensity. Many claim that Walls of Jericho are one of the best female-fronted hardcore bands of all time, yet they are surely more than the sum of their parts, and gender means nothing. Walls of Jericho prove themselves to be one of the best new faces to emerge from the late 20th century, period. Jason D. Taylor, All Music Guide
