Matthew McConaughey
Matthew McConaughey has reprised his 1970s stoner ladies man character from cult movie "Dazed & Confused" for pal Butch Walker's new video "Synthesizers."

In the promo, which features Walker as a bartender, the movie star, as Wooderson, walks through a club miming the words to the tune, playing a trumpet and a mini-piano en route to the ladies restroom with two sexy escorts.

McConaughey landed his big break as Wooderson in Richard Linklater's 1993 film.

Walker was thrilled when McConaughey signed up for the video. He says, "When it comes to classic characters, Matthew McConaughey's Woode...

Pink
Can't wait for next week to arrive? Check out a sneak peek of P!nk's Funhouse before it hits stores.

Listen in full now on MTV.com's The Leak. P!nk co-wrote each song and worked with everyone from Max Martin to Tony Kanal (of No Doubt) to Butch Walker on what she calls her "most vulnerable album to date." With its mix of sad, thoughtful love songs and fun, upbeat, feisty rock anthems, P!nk achieved exactly what she wanted to on Funhouse.

"It feels good to get people not just emoting and releasing all that energy, but getting angry and motivated too. It's group therapy."

Starpulse Asks: Where Have All the Songwriters Gone?

October 26th, 2007 3:49pm EDT
Paramore
Pop tunesmiths are a baker's dozen. After the late-90s surge of uber song doctors such as Desmond Child and Diane Warren (known for that Titanic song), Justin Timberlake found his "SexyBack" and his own writing voice following years of whistling Max Martin dixie. Heck, even Britney Spears penned tunes from her Britney effort. (This year's tepid train wreck "Blackout" features a pitiful two songs co-written by the popstar.)

But what goes around comes around. A mere glance at the contemporary pop offerings finds only a chapbook of singer-songwriters. Ms. Warren's cheeseball balladry has ...
