2015's Most Underrated Songs

25 Most Underrated Songs Of 2015 (So Far)
Not every record ends up being a hit. In fact if you think about it, only a select few songs end up with the distinction of hit status. The songs featured on this list are terrific, but none of them have been profound in the commercial department. Arguably, the best way to describe these songs are ‘underrated’ – they are the ‘unsung heroes’ of the year as well as their artist’s respective album. All deserve the same respect if not more than the hits, but they can always bask in their critical acclaim. These are the most underrated songs of 2015…so far.

The underrated songs chosen are ...

Will Fans Enjoy Jamie Foxx’s New Album?

5/20/2015 2:42pm EDT
Review: Jamie Foxx Keeps Things Sensual On ‘Hollywood’
How does one characterize Jamie Foxx? The best way to describe Foxx is as multitalented. He is one of few actors – an Academy Award winner by the way – who can convincingly play dramatic roles as well as comedic roles. Furthermore, Foxx is one of few actors who has nailed the ‘musician’ thing – he’s a classically trained pianist with golden pipes.

After a five-year hiatus between albums, Foxx returns with his most sensually driven lengthily titled album yet, Hollywood: A Story of a Dozen Roses. Has the 47-year old Foxx lost his swag? Nope, not in the least – perhaps he overdoes the ‘sw...

15 Bass-Loving, Bootylicious Songs!

15 Songs That Are Truly 'All About The Booty'
One great thing about music is that it can reflect things the people relate to, whether its more important issues or shallower ones. On the shallower side, numerous songs have been recorded with a certain part of the anatomy in mind. The 15 songs that grace this list all celebrate being about “that bass,” otherwise known as the behind, booty, or butt. Judging by all the different synonyms, there are numerous ways which the beloved portion of the anatomy can be referenced. Most on this list tend to take the, um, more lustful route.

1) Meghan Trainor, “All About That Bass” (Title, 2015...

Wale Vs 'Furious 7' Soundtrack For No. 1 Spot

Wale Takes ‘The Album About Nothing’ To Top of the Billboard Cha
The title of rapper Wale’s latest album is an unfortunate one – The Album About Nothing. From a critical standpoint, The Album About Nothing is another captivating effort from the MC who has compelled the world with three previous LPs. From a commercial standpoint, Wale claims his second consecutive number one album, following 2013’s The Gifted. While The Gifted performed better, Wale’s impact at 100,000 units is impressive given seemingly less aggressive promotion compared to The Gifted (single “Bad” was a sizable single at the time).

Wale led a number of ‘impactful’ new releases, th...

Review Of Wale's Fourth Studio Album

4/7/2015 10:58am EDT
Review: Wale Impresses On ‘The Album About Nothing’
An artist must be bold and fearless to title an album The Album About Nothing. That’s exactly what MMG rapper Wale does on his fourth studio album. The rollout for The Album About Nothing was rather reserved and somewhat enigmatic. That enigmatic sentiment can be felt throughout the course of The Album About Nothing, an effort with notable differences from The Gifted. Adding to both enigma and concept – the use of Jerry Seinfeld vocal samples – go figure!

“The Intro About Nothing” sets the tone, with Wale spitting agilely, backed by soulful, production. He’s ‘stretched’ more on the c...

Wale And Ludacris Lead Albums To Check Out
Ah, March 31st is turning out to be quite a big new release day – by no means is March ending like a ‘lamb.’ Arguably, there is not a surefire juggernaut release the likes of Kendrick Lamar dropping this week, but there is a healthy dose of big names ending March on a high note. Led by Wale and a comeback album by Ludacris, here are seven newbies to check out this week!

1) Wale, The Album About Nothing (Atlantic)

Wale returns with his fourth studio album, The Album About Nothing. Nothing follows up Wale’s 2013 LP The Gifted, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The Album About...

The 51 Best Albums Of 2013 - What Made Your List?

Daft Punk
Ranking the very best albums of any year is incredibly difficult; there are always misses. 2013 was filled with some triumphant musical moments, though not all of their parent albums were necessarily ‘worthy’ of being considered the best of the year. Because of various factors, this list has its surprises and like any album reviewed, its triumphs and flaws. One thing’s for sure – the top ten to fifteen albums are pretty close to the cream of the crop from my perspective. Here are the 50 (+1) best albums of 2013!

20 Best Rap Albums Of 2013

12/29/2013 9:00am EST
Marshall Mathers LP 2
2013 has been an exceptional year for rap album releases.  Some were hot, while others were far from it – cold as Antarctica. Still overall, there were plenty of releases to be proud of, no questions asked. Below, you’ll find my ‘MIA’ (or called it in) list as well as my top 20 rap albums of 2013. This excludes mixtapes and previously released material FYI.

1) Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP 2
Aftermath

Eminem set out to prove he’s still the illest MC, epitomized by his vicious performance on the epic “Rap God”.  Ultimately, Eminem accomplishes his task of affirming his ‘god status’, sou...

50 Best Rap Songs Of 2013

Kendrick Lamar
Ranking favorites from throughout the year is one of the most time-consuming and arduous things to do.  All of the rap songs on this particular list of rap songs from 2013 all stood out to me in some regard.  Are they ordered correctly – most likely not.  Is there complete analysis of each provided below or even a sound reason why they were selected… um…well now… Basically, provided is a statement of a thought, a reaction, or possibly a reason why I though each song was special.

1) “Blood On The Leaves”

Review: MMG 'Self Made, Vol. 3': As Money Pours In, Originality Drops A Smidgen

Let’s just cut to the chase… this is the third Maybach Music Group compilation.  That’s a statement in itself.  While the saying is that “third time’s charm”, this particular installment actually seems to be less enthralling than the previous installment. Sure, there is plenty of gangsta to respire here, but this time there is a lack of that surefire juggernaut like “Power Circle” or the coolest funeral arrangement tune “Bury Me A G”.  Maybe Rick Ross spent a little too much time counting his bread, but this feels much more like a compilation.  Oh well.

Self Made 3 opens with “Lil Snupe In...

Wale Has First Chart-Topping Debut With 'The Gifted'

7/4/2013 11:46am EDT
Wale
Rapper Wale has scored his first number-one album on the U.S. charts, landing the top spot on the Billboard 200 with his new album, "The Gifted."

The album sold 158,000 copies in its first week of sales, topping J. Cole's June 18 release "Born Sinner," which holds on to second place in its second week on the chart. Wale's last album, "Ambition" (2011) peaked at number-two and bested his new release by selling 6000 more copies.

Kanye West's masterpiece "Yeezus" falls two spots to number three.

Rounding out the top five are the unfortunately-named Christian rock band Skillet, who debut at ...

Jerry Seinfeld Explains Collaboration With Rapper Wale

1/21/2013 9:36am EST
Jerry Seinfeld
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld's collaboration with rapper Wale came about because his wife loves the hip-hop star's music.

The pair joined forces to work on Wale's fifth record, The Album About Nothing, and Seinfield admits he didn't understand why the rapper wanted to work with him.

In an interview with DJ Omega, the open-minded star reveals that he discussed the project with his wife, Julia, and confesses that she was the driving force behind the musical pairing.

He says, "Wale called me, he came to my show and we hung out a little bit. He wanted me to do something with him. I didn't unde...

Twitter Attacks On Wale: How Twitter Users Are Like Rappers

6/15/2012 1:48pm EDT
Wale
I like Wale. I can’t say that I am a die-hard fan, but his apparent talent of putting words together in a rap song is something to rave about. Since releasing his mix tape “More about Nothing” in 2010 and signing with Rick Ross label Maybach Music Group in 2011, Wale began gaining fanfare that he never had, and it was apparent when he released his second album Ambition which had a huge turn around in terms of sales compared to his first album Attention Deficit.

But as we all know, and as clichéd as it comes, success comes envy. With that said, no rapper has gotten more backlash on the Twit...

A rap gig featuring Fabolous, Waka Flocka Flame and Wale was thrown into bedlam on Monday night after a staging area collapsed.

The stars performed at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom at a birthday party for Power 105 radio DJ Prostyle, but a problem occurred when all of their entourages gathered backstage.

A ramp collapsed under the weight and a staging area buckled, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.

A source tells the publication more than 400 people packed the backstage area, adding "(There were) 12 dudes (on the ramp) that weighed 300 pounds each and an extra ...
