Virginia Coalition is a rock band from Alexandria, Virginia, who met in the early 1990s through their music class at T. C. Williams High School. Former songwriter and lead guitarist Steve Dawson left the band in late 2003 to spend more time with his wife, Jaime Nolan, and the couple's first daughter. Dawson was a significant contributor to the band's first three albums, singing lead vocals on approximately half the band's released tracks. In September 2006, Dawson joined VACO for two hometown shows at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. In February 2007, VACO announced the departure of another founding member, John Patrick (drums/vocals).
