October 3rd, 2011 8:54am EDT
Queen
Queen's rock anthem "We Are The Champions" has been named the catchiest song of all time in a new scientific survey.

Musicologists at Goldsmiths University in England spent months researching what makes a song memorable and they have determined the Queen song beats "Y.M.C.A." by the Village People as the most easily memorized tune.

Sum 41's "Fat Lip," "The Final Countdown" by Europe and The Automatic's "Monster" also made the top five.

Village People
Gay icons the Village People have reacted to plans to abbreviate the YMCA chain to "The Y." The group had a massive hit with the club franchise's name.

They stated, "We are deeply dismayed by today's announcement from the YMCA that they feel a name change and a rebranding are in order after 166 years. Some things remain iconic and while we admire the organization for the work they do, we still can't help but wonder Y."

The group clicked first in England with the single "San Francisco (You Got Me)" in 1977, then reaped stateside honors with "Macho Man" in 1978. "Y.M.C.A." and "In the Nav...

Writer's Viewpoint: Disputing An Iconic Song List

January 30th, 2009 2:14pm EST
Beatles
It takes a cataclysmic event to derail Overrated/Underrated from its usual Friday spot. Currently the Oscars have been serving as that disruptive force, but this week interruption comes from the most unlikely source: a sports columnist from the Kansas City Star.

This is because Joe Posnanski has suggested on his blog that we stop voting artists into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame and shift our focus to Hall-Worthy songs. Songs he deems "Iconic". His criterion for including a song on the ballot is that it be "A song that represents a set of beliefs or a way of life. So, I see these s...

Tokio Hotel
Okay, so Starpulse ran an article on February 21 titled "Guyliner: Hot Or Not? You Decide," but we left a number of big names off of that list-- enough, in fact, to make a second list of more men who publicly wear the dark penciling around their eyes.

Some find it sexy and attractive, while others find it downright disgraceful; but in either case there are plenty of guys doing it lately. While our first article may have taken a positive slant on the issue at hand, this writer is only creeped out by these men who are obviously more concerned with their image than anything else. Some a...
