Axl Rose has slammed his former Guns N' Roses bandmate Slash, branding him a "cancer better removed."

The rocker, the only remaining member of the band's original line-up, has dashed fans' hopes of a reunion with Slash and bassist Duff McKagan after lashing out at the iconic guitarist.

Rockers Velvet Revolver are close to finding a frontman to replace former singer Scott Weiland. The supergroup, featuring former Guns N' Roses stars Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, fired Weiland after a series of public band fights in April and have been looking for a new singer ever since.

The search stalled late last year after Liv Tyler's ex-husband, British rocker Royston Langdon, formerly of the band Spacehog, auditioned for the group - but McKagan insists there's new hope.

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has dashed fans' hopes of a possible truce with former bandmate Slash - insisting "one of the two of us would die before a reunion could ever take place.

Former Guns N' Roses star Slash is mourning the death of close friend and promising musician Heath Sammons.

Sammons, an aspiring performer and songwriter, passed away on Christmas Eve, after losing his battle with a rare form of bone cancer. He was 20 years old.

He became close friends with his idol Slash after the legendary guitarist treated him to a private jam session last June in Los Angeles.

Velvet Revolver star Duff McKagan has revealed he and his band mates are struggling to find a permanent replacement for fired front man Scott Weiland. Former Guns N' Roses rocker Slash has given the band's long-awaited comeback album the thumbs up.

The guitarist quit Guns N' Roses in 1996 after falling out with frontman Axl Rose while the pair worked on the LP - which has taken 14 years to hit stores. As Rose prepares for its November 24th release, Slash - now a member of super-group Velvet Revolver - responded positively when played a track from the disc on a Boston, Massachusetts radio station this week.

Lenny Kravitz has denied reports he's set to join supergroup Velvet Revolver. The singer fueled speculation he'll be Scott Weiland's replacement in the band after he joined Slash and his mates in the studio.

But Kravitz won't be fronting Velvet Revolver any time soon. He tells, "I know and love the Velvet Revolver guys but there is no truth to the story about me joining their band."

Kravitz isn't the only singer linked to the band - former Skid Row star Sebastian Bach and Spacehog's Royston Langdon have also been named as possible Weiland replacements.

Rocker Lenny Kravitz is rumored to be the new frontman of Velvet Revolver after being spotted in a studio with the rock group.

The Grammy Award-winning group have been hunting for a new lead singer after Scott Weiland was fired and went on to reunite with the Stone Temple Pilots in April. And Kravitz is the favorite to replace him.

Velvet Revolver have scrapped plans to turn their search for a new singer into a reality TV show. The rockers have been without a frontman since firing Scott Weiland at the beginning of April, and were toying with the idea of turning their hunt for his replacement into a TV talent contest.

Drummer Matt Sorum reveals several TV producers pitched the band the idea for the show.
