Lambert, Blige, Hudson: Standout Voices That Don't Need The Help Of Autotune

July 24th, 2009 10:52am EDT
Adam Lambert
With the now widespread use of autotune, it is very difficult these days to find people in entertainment that can actually sing well. (I'm looking at you, Kanye West) Here are a few people from the last 30 years whose music you can still listen to-whose voices don't have to be altered.

Christina Aguilera

It is amazing to think that such a big voice can come out of such an itty-bitty body. Her very first hit, Genie in a Bottle did not fully show off her vocal range, but with singles like Reflection, later hits like Ain't No Other Man, and her rendition of James Brown's This is a Man'...

Five Reasons Why Richard Marx & John Mayer Are Alike

May 11th, 2009 10:04am EDT
Though Richard Marx got his big break in the late 1980's and John Mayer got his in early 2000's (nearly 15 years later), if we were able to do a 'quantum leap,' we could easily pop each man into one another's career. John would leap into 1987 (the year of Richard's self-titled debut album), and Richard's music career would begin in 2001 when John's hit making album "Room for Squares" was released. Surely, both men would still have great success and receive just as many accolades because their musicality is that amazing.

Check out five top reasons why these two gentlemen of music can ...

March 27th, 2008 12:54pm EDT
Chikezie Eze
Syesha Mercado and Chikezie Eze stood next to each other on stage, clutching what was left of their possible time on "American Idol." Both veterans of the bottom three, Syesha managed to dodge another bullet, sending Chikezie packing his bags.

The former Los Angeles International Airport baggage handler took the exit with his usual grace and utmost charm. After his Tuesday night's performance of Luther Vandross' "If Only For One Night," Chikezie seemed shaken by the judges' responses. In choosing his song, the California native said the song touched his heart unlike any other duri...

She reveals, "It's a water bed covered in terry cloth, so none of this stuff is going to get destroyed by the steam. I sleep in here for three hours and then I go into my bedroom. Luther Vandross was actually the one who told me about the humidity being helpful to the voice and skin and everything."
